Actually it has sold nearly 6.5 million. If Sony can reach 8-9 million by years end which I think they will they will be right in inline with 360s numbers. 360 didn't reach 9 million sold until Feb. of this year.

Wait, so you're going to claim that the drop to $500 that didn't even last for a month was a permanent price drop? :roll:

It was there to clear out 60gb's to clear way for the 80gb models, nothing more. The only official price cut was the one that just happened when the 80gb went to $500 and the 40gb model was introduced at $400. And who cares...it's increasing sales. And the PS3 was still $600 for over 90% of the time of it's first year. So, yes, my statement is still correct.

It wasn't selling well due to the $600 price. But, considering its price, it wasn't that bad of sales. That's all i meant. A $600 console could've sold alot worse than 6 million in its first year.

maybe after the holiday season it might...but it also doesnt have a killer app like Geow so im not surprised

Despite what people say I don't believe that Microsoft sold 10 million at the end of last year, I mean come on they are struggling to sell half of that this year with big name games such as Halo 3, Bioshock Mass Effect yet last year they happen to sell 10 million with only GeOW.

In actual fact 360 only managed to sell around 7-8 million at the end of last year with no competition for the first 10 months of last year, Sony on the other hand has sold up to 6 million PS3's this year with a hell of alot of competition. If 360 was released a year after PS3/Wii then it would have died due to heavy competition. You have to hand it to Sony, they have been through alot and they are still putting up a fight in all 3 major territores, if you ask me I say PS3 is doing just as good if not better then 360's first year and better then 360's 2nd year. Next year PS3 will be a bigger threat to 360and take way 360's home field advantage since PS3's big name franchises will come to lend a hand as well as new faces.

The PS3 is about a 2-3mil short of the x360 in it's 1st year.

When you actually study PS3 Sales vs PS2 Sales, you will find out just how poor the PS3 is performing.

Not at all, actually. MS announced at the end of December '06 that it had sold 10.4 Million 360s. The PS3 is sitting pretty at4-5Million units sold - it has a TON of ground to cover if it hopes to match the 360 in the one year mark. I doubt it will, however.Erkidu

Thats why they lowered their sales projections for the first half of 07 from like 15 Million to 12-13 Million

Since retailers first have to sell there newly shipped stock before they'd receive new stock
