Is PS3 version of Crysis 2 the best looking PS3 game? (POLL)

Many people here on SW seem to think that Crysis 2 is the best looking game on consoles. Considering that the difference between PS3 and 360 versions of the game is barely noticable, I wonder whether PS3 owners (i.e. ppl that actually played some of the best looking PS3 exclusives) think their version of Crysis 2 beats the best PS3 exclusives graphically.

I personally dont.. but my opinion means nothing because some reviewers say otherwise and im a h4rdc0r3 ps tr1pl3 f4nb0y!campzor

I also personally honestly think that its not. Compared to Killzone 3, Crysis 2 on consoles has lower resolution textures, worse framerate, worse animations, looks blurrier, etc. etc.

It's very close to being the best but imo Uncharted 2, GOW3 and KZ3 are still slightly more impressive.

You're right...many but not "all". Also I believe on the site we are on and the reviewer agree with the opinion that it is not the best looking on consoles.

That's good to know. For a second there it seemed like your head blew up because you didn't like my opinion that many also share.

Technically Crysis 2 is more advanced than any other game on any console and considering what Crysis 2 manages to do it really is NOT even close.

From a technical perspective, yes by a long shot. No other game has wow'd me as much graphically on my PS3. Although I'm also the guy who says GT5 and KZ3 have unimpressive graphics.

Play the game, and almost all objects that are like 20 feet's away are non existence until you are like 15 feet's, then magical boxes appears, shadows appears.... Don't get me wrong I love the game, Its really fun, but this technical issues really"bugs" me.

Where are all these Crysis 2 graphics threads coming from? It's not the best looking game on console. Xbots seem to think it's the best thing ever just because it's the only graphical powerhouse on X360. Uncharted 2, God of War 3, and Killzone 3, heck even Killzone 2 all look better than Crysis 2. C2 is not even HD and isn't stable. How is it even considered to be the best of the best? Even Lens of Truth declares Killzone 3 the winner of the two.

Final Fantasy XIII tops both the PS3 and 360 versions of Crysis 2. And every other game on consoles.

first of all, about the differences between the 360 and ps3 versions, one version does some things better than the other and vice versa. they're completely even as said by lens of truth and digital foundry.

but secondly I need to play the game to make my final judgement, however It's going to be hard giving crysis 2 the title due to all of its issues. But zomg the lighting is fantastic looking :D

honestly I can overlook the game being sub HD since all of crysis 2's post processing effects and awesome lighting (which is the reason for the sub HD resolutions) just cover up that fact.

as far as performance... yeah that's something that can't be overlooked and the other games have the clear edge in that area.

When a game maxes out at 27-28 frames per second and dips down into the low/mid 20's then it takes away from it a bit, if Crysis managed 30 frames *ALL* the time and full 720P then it would probably be PS3 graphics king IMO.

I think the difference maker with Crysis 2 is the lighting engine is so much better than anything on consoles before - the more "natural" looking lighting is the one thing that really separates it from Killzone 3 and others. Also impressive given it's a much more "open' shooter than some of the more scripted/linear shooters or a hack and slash like God of War.

On the down side texture quality is not nearly the best, it's not full 720P (albeit that's difficult to tell anyway) character detail and animations are merely average, there is pop-in on the console versions, AI is horrid, and the framerate is not nearly as smooth as the best PS3 exclusives. Uncharted 2 has a locked 30FPS that never fluctuates, God of War 3 runs up to 60 frames, Killone is 30 frames, etc. All the while those games run at full 720P and have minimal or no texture draw-in compared to Crysis. So it's a bit of a mixed bag. I would say that right now Crysis 2 is up there, but the next run of PS3 exclusives will probably surpass it because they will utilize more advanced lighting closer to the level of Crysis 2, and at the same time they likely won't cut corners with resolution, they will actually manage a full 720P resolution with competely stable framerates and better AA..

not really. the lighting is dynamic but it's just bloom. it's been done before and is remarkably similar to the lighting in killzone 3. the difference here being, is that everything that should emit light does. that's why it's so impressive, not the actual lighting technology but all the sources of light - weapons, explosions, fire, leds, street lights, everything. but it's definitely not natural looking lol but I really like the stylized look to the lighting :)

I think i like Uncharted 2 more. And im comparing that to the PC version of crysis 2.

I think it is certainly in the top 3.

I think Killzone 3 looks slightly better, but Crysis is defintiely right behind it.

How can we even tell if one game looks better than another. I mean obviously some games just plain look better. But it's hard to tell when you compare games like killzone and crysis 2. They all have different parts that look good and parts that look not as good. It also makes it hard that they have very different art styles. dkdk999

No, not even close.

It's a good looking game, but the low resolution, jagged lines, and unstable framerate, doesn't give the game any justice. It plays well, yes. I have no problems with the game, just finished it last night, and it's one of my favorites this gen. But certainly, in terms of graphics, not the best looking.
