I am amazed that they put this thing out to die. Then again, they did that with the PSVR 1 as well. What say you fellow SW friends? Are you regretting your purchase? If you don't have one, were you still planning on buying one?

I feel like maybe they should just have focused on trying to get us some first party games in 2023 instead.

I still have alot of faith in VR. But the approach of a already limited library, segmenting it up into their little fiefdoms has been poo.

Even if VR were to get no support at all, modders keep it going.

They should just add PC support for it so that it can reach a bigger audience as it is a good headset. I don't see VR growing much more than it has based on the current limitations. Unless somebody comes out with some major breakthrough, we are going to have to wait for some Matrix-like shit for full immersion.

Most people with VR headsets still prefer to play games the traditional way and the headsets end up collecting dust.

The first two tweets make good points. But including a JayRock tweet in the OP is dumb.

Sony is **dumb**. They release what is probably the best headset on the market, the PS VR2, and don't officially support PC, rendering the thing almost useless beyond a few solid games. The PSVR 1 was a colossal piece of ass-shit. That thing....ugh. Nice design in some respects, but the tracking, software, power supply all sucked horrendously, to say the least. I did get a lot of playtime with my jarhead bros on Firewall Zero Hour, though. That was the only saving grace.

The PSVR2 is a solid headset, and there are some great games for it. But yeah, support from Sony is scant at this point. But then, Sony first party has not been great lately, in my opinion. The main reason I'm getting a PSVR2 is for the Firewall sequel, which is going to be dope as hell. But if you don't want CS:Go in VR, then dunno what to tell you.

Can't wait to hear what DF has to say about this, especially John Linneman on their next Direct Weekly. This news will upset John as he really loves PSVR2.

As i said many times before it was even released, you will never get a single quality title for this thing. Its made for shitty low budget indies, and that's your $550 experience, low budget garbage that is sold on steam for $5.

Stop being so obtuse. Taking the third tweet out of the OP would make the thread something worth talking about. Putting a Xbox fanatic with a minuscule following compared to the industry vets makes no sense.

PSVR2 has no games. It has no clear future. The marketing has been non existent. There was FAR more support for their first headset. Sony put the thing out to die.

Have absolutely zero interest in the PSVR2 myself one way or the other but that’d be pretty crazy for Sony to drop support for it already. 😅

Beyond that, it is clear that your obsession with Xbox and its fanatics have gotten the best of you. After all, it is the reason you are a third gen alt.🙃

Back to the thread, PSVR2 needs to be released of its PS5 constraints.

@kvallyx: this is the problem with vr, there isn't really a support base for it with traditional model that Playstation uses. You need people to buy the product and the games for developers to show interest in making more games.

Something like gamepass would make more sense for VR. Microsoft could bring in VR titles in to their rotation and this would create more exposure and more sales for VR systems.

The socialist approach just works better for things like VR

I hope not. But VR Manufacturers and game devs need to straighten up a bit here. It's a very niche market and locking things down further does VR no favours.

Sony should add PC support to the PSVR headset AND bring their existing VR games to the PC. It would make more sense at this stage to get more revenue from their VR games.

Likewise, PC VR devs should also look to support PSVR2. E.g. Valve should bring HL:A to the PS5 also. Sony permitting, The Index should also be up and running on the PS5 (really sony should also push to support any VR headset that can technically work with the PS5).

VR in general needs to be more accessible (so cheaper headsets) while also pushing the state of the art in more expensive headsets. It also, as a market, needs more content to justify the outlay.

VR is an amazing way to experience some games but the business side of it is making a mess of it at the moment.

TC has already admitted that he thinks VR is a gimmick and he also doesn’t own a PSVR 2. I wonder why he isn’t posting articles from Eurogamer about all the great coming to PSVR 2? it’s because he doesn’t actually have interest in it 🤣 there is nothing that has been any different since the system was marketed.

@ghostofgolden: why can't you argue it? This socialist approach is very common with government funding for building roads, train tracks, internet, water, electricity, military, space tech and so on.

MS can be the government and support the VR. There also needs to be more cross support for pc and Xbox. I read about meta making some kind of agreement with Xbox to bring VR, but that was last year and no new information since then.

Not sure why so many on here are so against VR. It's a great medium to use in addition to traditional gaming. I was just playing Roblox on my quest 2 which was really cool. Anyone still playing racing games on a flat screen is really missing out. I can't even go back to that after playing in VR, it feels so fake. PSVR 2 came out like 3 months ago. Not sure what everyone is expecting.

There seems to be no buzz around it since it's release. That's a red flag.

Sony should've had invested that money into building a proper successor to PSP/Vita than waste it on PSVR2

Instead they halfassed the PSVR2 marketing and software support and are doing an even more halfassed approach to a handheld with their streaming only handheld.

I will never understand the PlayStation hype or how they are doing so well…

Not gonna happen unless Sony supports OpenXR on PSVR and PSVR2. Sony themselves are to blame for going with their proprietary standard when the rest of the industry all adopted OpenXR.

It would make sooooooo much more sense to hedge their VR strategy on PC than hedging their exclusive games on PC with ports year later ie A Rift Apart coming out recently.

Yep, GT7 VR is a totally different experience and has been highly regarded, even by the media. Oh look, it’s a first party game! Also, Horizon Call of the Mountain was a from the ground up first party game.

The third party support is also excellent with RE8 Village being totally immersive, and RE 4 Remake VR on the way. Exclusives like CR Smash, Synaspe, and Firewall Ultra. But, but, this doesn’t fulfill the doomsday narrative that the people who don’t have the system want to spread!

@SolidGame_basic: Yeah, the third party support is decent, admittedly. For me though, Firewall alone is worth the price of admission. It's one of my most anticipated games in a long time. I put an absurd amount of hours into the first Firewall. I expect to put 500+ hours into the sequel.

@SolidGame_basic: A mode for GT7 and a Horizon game that is 8hrs short 🤣

What other first party games does Sony have in the pipeline solid?

You will most likely avoid this post because it doesn't fit with your narrative.

@last_lap: Does it matter? My guess is more than MS released this year. How many first party games has MS released exclusively for the Series consoles? None that I can think of. Yet you don't say they stopped supporting the consoles. Sony has a ton of support from third parties. I don't expect them to invest a lot of resources for a device that's sold a fraction of what PS5 has. I'm happy with ports from Meta and other PC VRs. And as a racing fan yourself, you really should try a racing setup with wheel and pedals and VR. I hated racing games until GT7 with this setup. Between a PS5, PSVR 2, Logitech g29 wheel with pedals and shifter and a cage to mount it on, I dropped at least $1500. But well worth it. That's how good it is.

Sucks b/c by all accounts it was a great piece of hardware at a pretty reasonable price (relative to what's out there), it just doesn't have a lot of content which is too bad.
