yes it would , sony is quite good at marketing, allthough it might be a combination of factors.

But I doubt it would get this kind of buzz factor if sony wasn't behind it.

Nintendo always has game droughts. After Smash there will be another year long drought until Metroid (if it even releases next year). PS4 will dominate Switch over the holidays with Spiderman and RDR2. Smash isn't going to sell to anyone that didn't already buy a Switch for Kart, Odyssey and Zelda.

There's no "news" because its a shallow cash grab game. They've already showed too much and let everyone know its a glorified port of the mobile game being sold for full retail price. Hence why people are cancelling their preorders. This was the game Nintendo was banking on so hard this holiday and its already a flop.

Nintendo consoles are excellent as complementary consoles

There have been 3 Spiderman games to sell over 3 million copies and these were just Activision movie cash in games. Imagine what a Spiderman game that's actually good is going to sell.

When I looked at the sales figures it wasn't 3 million, at least not each. So I suppose you're talking all sales combined, and that's not very successfull.

But you're right this spiderman might sell well, but if I was a betting man I wouldn't bet this would beat god of war for instance, not even close to be honest.

If you combine all the SKUs for Spiderman The Movie 1 and 2 they are at 7+ million each. Even a Game Boy version sold over 1 million copies. There is a lot of interest in Spidey games.

yeah but that wasn't last gen, last gen a lot of interest died for spiderman. Bck in the early 2000's spiderman was big with the spiderman movies as well.

and I know what you're going to say, activision makes bad spidey games, but web of shadows scored pretty high, allthough those sales could have been taken a hit with all the heavy hitters that released back then , like gta IV, dead space and what not.

I was actually a big spiderman myself back in the early 2000's, and I love spiderman from 2002, but like I said the formula didn't appeal to me anymore in the xbox 360 gen (the amazing spiderman movies and his role in avengers didn't help a lot either though) and to me the formula didn't seem to have changed much.

But if it really is going to be as good as you say it is, then I eat all my words and go buy a playstation.
