is splinter cell the most underappreciated series ever made?

so far, the splinter cell series over the yearsbeen just as if not more consistent than the metal gear solid, final fantasy,mario, zelda and halo. so in my opinion its been underappreciated and underrated.

I think that the originals are appreciated, but Double Agent was that black sheep in the family that everyone can't forget about.

I've always preferred Splinter Cell over the Metal Gear Solid series, simply because I can't be assed to sit through all those tedious codec transmissions and the long ass FMVs. I beat the original MGS, but after that the series really lost my interest. What kind of badass hides in a box? Double Agent was definitely the worst SC in the series, but it still wasn't a bad game by any means. Can't wait for Conviction to drop.

The sheer fact people take the cardboard box joke this seriously is hysterical. It's simply an ongoing joke in the series.

Also, you can skip the codec calls if you really want. If you prefer Splinter Cell > Metal Gear, the lack of story development you get from skipping them might be what you've been looing for all along ;) .

Not even close. I don't know about series, but Freedom Fighters is the most underappreciated game I can recall of the past couple of gens. Even smaller games like Shadow of the Colossus got the praise they deserved, if not the sales.Hahadouken

NO Double Agent was trash, and Conviction is insulting. It's just probably a good game. The Series is not underappreciated. jg4xchamp

as far as stealth gameplay goes i always liked Splinter Cell more than MGS, which was always super-light on stealth and focused more on story and boss fights

they perfect the superspy / stealth formula with chaos theory, then thoughtlessly butchered it and released double agent changing many successful aspects, not least the character of sam himself (who wants to go from playing as an ice cool, unflappable super spy to a drunken, damaged man in mourning?). then they tried to turn it into assassins creed (hobo sam? wtf?) and then have further bastardized that winning formula with conviction.*

they had the blueprint to an amazing game and formula, yet felt they had to tinkler with it. then they went on and destroyed far cry. ubisoft :evil:
