Is the $200 sku of the X360 the reason it sells so well?

If you consider the cash it takes to buy both systems it's no wonder the Xbox is winning.

On the X360's first day available it had a $300 sku ($200 less than a 20gb PS3 at launch)

That logic fails when you consider the fact that the ps3 outsold it since it launched.

It's a party in a box.

It's slick and fun to use.

Goes beyond just being a "console."

Every person who has sat down at my 360 has bought one.

The PS3 is in fact beating the 360 in the EU.

Anyway, the $200 SKU isn't driving the 360 forward. Its the marketing push with CoD [which is actually brilliant on their part] and probably the gigantic marketing push with the Kinect [which, if you actually care about games, SUCKS].

Its pretty much common knowledge that the 360 only outsells the PS3 in NA. Europe is always close between the PS3 and 360 but the PS3 takes the cake.

Microsoft hits a lot of different demographics with the Xbox. Sony markets towards the core gamer and no one else really. Voice control is a neat little gimmick that will sell a lot of Kinects, but using a controller to navigate is faster than trying to talk like a robot.

You can make all the excuses you wish. It makes no difference to me. Bottomline is the PS3 is out selling the 360. Use whatever reasoning you need to help you sleep at night. ;)AmazonTreeBoa

That's simply not the way it works, either in business or in common sense. It makes no sense to compare total sales of two products that have had different lifespans, as that is just O'Reilly style spin to try to drive an agenda.
