Is the $200 sku of the X360 the reason it sells so well?

That's simply not the way it works, either in business or in common sense. It makes no sense to compare total sales of two products that have had different lifespans, as that is just O'Reilly style spin to try to drive an agenda.

but i think most of the people like the online play so the buy a 360 and put 4.99$ for monthly fee but thats just my guess

Price and exclusives are the two main factors for purchase i think,the ps3 (according to ign's recent article) states the ps3 has far more exclusives than the 360,but it does cost more (although in the uk at least the 250gb xbox and 160gb ps3 are almost the same price). I have only owned a 360 of this generation of consoles (played around with my uncles wii before and really enjoyed super mario galaxy and zelda twilight princess) I think once the ps3 hits 199bucks/149 sterling with it's list of must own exclusives that it will be impossible for me as a gamer not to purchase it because it has so many exclusives that it forces me to wish to own one.blacktorn

That's the nice thing about late in the console generation.

The machine is cheap, and there is a huge backlog of stuff you can get for $10-$20.

It's gonna be a PS3 apocalypse at my house. I might get a Sharpshooter.

2013 will be a PC year for me. SWTOR. Guild Wars 2 and a whole bunch of RTS that I don't like playing on consoles.

no I think the 50 and even 100 dollar gift cards to move 360 units are what give them massive sales over the holidays.

It is the amazing quality of exclusives that drive sales more than anything

Also it is the only choice for games like Skyrim, Crysis 1-2, Witcher 2, Mass Effect 1 etc on consoles and the only one with good JRPGs this generation

Most of the people I knew who bought it over PS3 chose so because of the early library advantage (took a few years for PS3 to even feel like a competitive platform imo), price and Live (majority of console gamers, this was their first time delving into online gaming).

By now, most people already have an established library with their 360, they see no reason to switch or go buy a PS3 to play UC and MGS4.

In the real world where people don't look up exclusives to buy a PS3, most people don't know about the differences in library. A lot of people are still shopping solely in GameSpot and EB games. What they see in the store, is what they believe what the system has.

The 360 is the most connected box. Thats why America loves the 360 yet the PS3 usually outsells the 360 everywhere else. Nonstop-Madness

You may laugh at this, but Kinect is selling like crazy for casuals, people just love Dance Central 2. I've had some fun times playing this game with friends, drunk as hell but having a blast. With real live people not some 12 year old screaming at you over your headset.

That's because Sony had done tons of price cuts on the PS3 a LOT more since launch just to even stay competitive with the Xbox 360 out of desperation. ;)

Go ahead. Ignore the truth. Fact is, if the PS2 wasn't so hugely successful & if Sony were to still have the PS3 at $600, PS3 would've been dead after it's first year on the market.
