No offense but neither you or the ps3 guy can read, or you both are too busy trying to be argumentative to actually read what I said..

So let me break this down for ya..

If you go to the store and buy one PS3($400) and one Blu-Ray movie($30.00)... thats $430, keep that in mind. I can go to the store and buy one Xbox 360 Pro($300) and one DVD($10) and my DVD will look as good as the Blu-Ray movie will. and for only $310

Let me explain why, from what I said, and I did say this...

You buy your $400 ps3 with its composite cables, hook it up to your ANY type of TV(can be HD, doesn't matter) and put in your fancy Blu-Ray movie(we'll say Dark Knight cuz its a cool movie)... and guess what.. its going to display in 480i.. no matter how fancy of a TV you have,. Now, lets say I hook up my 360 pro(which I have) with its component cables and put in my $10 movie(don't matter which one) and its going to display in atleast 480p(if I'm hooked up to a HDTV,which I am). Now thats out of the box, no extra expenses(minus the TV, but it doesn't matter).

So, which is the better value out of the box?

dotWithShoes

With your same logic, PS3 for 400 and CoD4 for 30, and 360 for 300 and COD4 for 30. You have limitless play for 430 dollars and limited play for 330 dollars. See what I did there? Your out of the box logic is illogical.

I guess everyone who buys games buys them to play online, and still ... I can play Call of Duty's rather short campaign repeately in HD.. can ya do that with the ps3?

yea i can play in HD and if HD is your only concern I feel sorry for you, you really don't enjoy your games to the fullest; i have a bunch of HDMI cables lying around, they're pretty cheap, but thats not the point. The point is that the out of the box comparison is pointless. A person who purchases a 360 without XBL, is definitely not getting the fullest out of his/ her system, where as a a person who purchases a PS3 without HDMI cables is not getting the fullest out of his or her system (I don't understand why sony doesn't put it in the box) but the point remains the same.

As it stands right now with the 360 Pro (299 - The Arcade is imo gimped, and the Elite is overpriced) and the PS3 are about even when you encompass all the other things xbl, games etc. If you need to choose I'd look at the games and base your decisions off that, both systems have some really high quality titles out right now and both have a bunch being released in the forseeable future.

I think it all depends on what you wanna do, like if u wanna play online the ps3 is the better deal, cause for the 360 you have to pay for live and a wireless router, but yea blu ray with the ps3 is also a great deal.

and if you look around ull be able to get a ps3 with an HDMI cable, i did and i got very lucjy lol

jerkface96
You don't have to buy a wireless router. Anyways, a wired connection would give you better latency and such.

Oh yeah the 360 is a better deal if you consider having to pay to play online, no rechageable controller, and the rate of system failures it's steal go for it.

So all the single player experiences on the 360 are not worth buying the system for? If having XBL is your only concern I truely feel sorry for you. Online game play is whats ruining this generation, as games that don't have it are considered not as good as games that do.

Yup thats exactly what I said :roll:Of course their worth it. Single player games are awesome. Most of my favourite games this gen are single player only or I only like their single player component. But if the game has online and its implemented really well (burnout, cod4 etc), and you don't have XBL, your not getting the most out of the game, thats all I'm saying!

This isnt going anywhere. Seriously even if you bought a ps3 or 360 your still going to buy some accessories which is up to ones decision.

No. Considering what you get for the money, PS3 is better value(hardware wise). Counting software, though, xbox 360 is a highly more effective video game system.

The 360 is cheaper if you don't play online. If you do, you have to pay $50 a year for Xbox Live, and if you can't do a wired connection, then the wireless adapter for the 360 costs $100. Also, the wireless controllers used 2 AA batteries each, and hard-drive space is way overpriced.

Even if you don't need a hard drive and use a wired connection to play online, the $200 Xbox Arcade ends up costing $400 after 4 years of paying for Xbox Live. After 5+ years, the $400 PS3 will have ended up being cheaper, with an 80GB hard drive and the ability to play Blu-Ray as bonuses.

But hey, it depends on your preferences.

If you get the Pro, I'd say the 2 consoles are of equal value. Not the crappy Arcade and not the Elite. It's not worth all the extra money for just another 60GB of HDD space.Floppy_Jim
But the only difference between the Pro and the Arcade is the 60GB of HDD space. :? Or am I missing something?

To answer your question no the 360 doesn't come with the same stuff as the PS3. Blu-ray, Wi fi, free online, Hard drive (depends on the sku), and hdmi hook ups.

Its up to you to decide which one is the better deal. There is a price difference for all that extra stuff. But if you think your getting the same stuff from a 360 for cheaper your not.

All 360 models come with HDMI hook ups and free xbox live accounts.

You are... Arcade model has internal memory where as the Pro doesn't :) Arcade doesn't come with any sort of external memory.

If hardware sales and software sales tells anything, then it should tell you the answer to that question.
