Is the 360 the more hardcore console?

Okay I've noticed a few things with people who are PS3 only gamers and that's that they seem to complain about difficulty a lot more than 360 gamers (I'm looking at you Demons Soul's) and they also seem to kinda suck at COD. You see I have COD for my Xbox and althought I'm not the best I think I'm above average. I get around 25-35 kills in Domination usually and then when I played COD on my friend's PS3 I was getting around 40-50 kills at around rank 25 versus my 46.

Another problem I had is that I've heard a lot of people say thing about Demon's Souls like, "oh it's so freaking hard", or "I'm scared to even put it in my PS3". So I bought the game for my brother's PS3 and have like 40 hours on it. ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME? This is hard? This game is challenging but no where near the amount that people make it out to be. All of the bosses except Flamelurker, Man Eater, Tower Knight, and King Allant are EASY. I saw a youtube comment on a Dark Souls video saying "Xbox players have no idea what they're getting into" or something with like 40 thumbs up. I LMAO.

Anyone who complains about Demons Soul's should try playing Ninja Gaiden 2 on the XBOX 360. I think Tecmo were on to something when they made Sigma 2. Did any of you know that Sigma 2 is actually substantially easier than the original Ninja Gaiden 2? Also try playing COD 2 on Veteran, that is freaking brutal.

Okay I've come up with a theory about this. The PS3 also doubles as a Blue Ray player and multimedia center in general, and PSN is free. This leads me to believe that the PS3 attracts more casuals while with the 360 since you have to pay for online and it's more online focused that it is the primary console for a hardcore crowd. Not to mention that MLG is mostly on the PC and 360, not really the PS3.

What's your guys take on this?

Edit: So because people are willing to pay for Xbox Live, that makes them more hardcore? Worst logic I've ever heard. If anything it makes them more casual because they're too foolish to realize they can get the same service for free.

I personally wouldn't even worry about it. I really don't think of either console as hardcore anyway.

I'd say its equal. Theres more hardcore fighting, racing, and RPG fans on PS3 for consoles while 360 has the hardcore shooters. In terms of a better community I'd say PS3 by far since kids are too stupid to set-up a PS3 mic that they can scream over and blast their *****y rap music over it.

I can't stand playing Black Ops online. Too many hipsters who learned the n-word when they were young and think that word and rap music are the best things in the world next to CoD and pwning n00bs. It's honestly just a real mess IMO though you don't always get them. Only seen it with MW series on 360 though. PS3 players actually wanna try teamwork and PC...well thats a whole 'nother story.

Anyway, I don't much care for the term "hardcore" or "casual". Each system offers it's own games for both audiences. Why does there have to be a ratio which one is more hardcore? It might be the PC, but then there are social games on Facebook which are mostly played there. It just doesn't matter.

Everybody has a different definition of what is hardcore.

A system is not "hardcore", only the taste of a gamer is.

I played with a friend on American KZ3 servers, and they were not very good at the game compared to on the Aussie servers, maybe all the good Americans are on XBL :p

Altough Demons Souls is great wake me up when 360 games like Mushihimesama Futari , Muchi Muchi Pork , Pink Sweets or Ketsui arrive on the PS3 .

Funny how the casuals from yesterday call themself hardcore now and the non gamers have become the casuals .

Sure but I think it's more accurate to say it's the best all around console covering everything from Kinectimals to Gears of War and everything in between. :P

If it took you 40 hours to beat Demon's Souls it was obviously hard for you.

First, I think you're reaching. Second, how can a console be hardcore, I'm sure you meant the players on the console. Finally, as hinted to already, no I think people just have preferences and chose their system accordingly, some based on the extras of the system (ie. bluray, free internet), while others are based on community (ie. friends who already have their systems). I have both because I have friends that have one or the other andone has more exclusives.

Honestly though, what does it matter? I didn't know there was a hardcore award.

lol, just lol, with millions of systems sold, every system has their *hardcores* and their *causuals*, just because some random guys have problems learning the patterns of enemies in DS it doesn't mean that automatically they are *less hardcore* than x360 players oO One could also argue that the x360 is getting *less hardcore* with the focus on Kinect oO

360 has more SHMUPs,Bullet Hell or otherwise.So 360 is more harcore,hands down.

No... the hardcore audience are those who will play on all systems if possible and if they can't they will want to. Thats how I see it...

Personally, I don't believe a THING can be considered "hardcore". But you seem to imply throughout your post that the 360 audience is what is hardcore. I'm not really sure the 360 audience, who was recently bragging about how awesome and successful Kinect is can be all that "hardcore". I'm not sure referring to a bunch of teenagers who have no jobs and can play online for 30 hours a day can be considered "hardcore" either. They are just teenagers being teenagers. I'm also not sure that a console whose audience primarily cares about shooters to the point that shooters dominate over any other game in their library by far...can be all that hardcore. After all, overly supporting one type of game over all others isn't a sign of a hardcore gamer in my opinion. And I'm also not sure that shooters are all that hardcore to begin with since every casual gamer I have ever known cares about only shooters or Sports games. Games with no story and explosions and little to think about other than how many kills/points you've racked up.

Those would be my thoughts.

"Hardcore" consoles died along with the Dreamcast, they are all casual first with the odd Demon Souls, Ninja Gaiden or Monster Hunter etc... if it wasn't for all the extremely casual gamers MS and Sony wouldn't be interested in the console market.

i own a ps3, 360, and wii. in my opinion, the ps3 has the more hardcore audience of the 3. last generation, the box had a more hardcore selection of games. this generation, the box has become more casual, hence me buying a ps3. all box owners care about is cod. they have no clue about the true essence of gaming. and of course i'm not speaking about every single box owner. also, there is a difference between a casual gamer and a hardcore gamer. i'll explain my definition, if it is warranted. oh yeah, and how can i forget gears.:roll:if u ask a casual gamer about rez, they'll look a u like ur crazy.

The way anything has the title "hardcore"..Its a lable..Just like a "hardcore gamer" or "hardcore sports fan" or anything else for that matter. I dont understand how some people "you" dont see this?? Not attacking you but just always wonder this.

Countless times on these boards ive talked about how the level of competition on XBL is considerably and at the very least noticeably higher compared to PS3. Thats another advantage of a paid subscription service, youre only playing against serious players as opposed to chumps or blu-rayers who "might as well sign up cause its free". Plus I believe in the first place X360 draws a more serious online crowd. Ex. all major console tournaments are on X360shadow8585

lol perfect, consoles are for casual gaming. THey are simple and easy to use and for the most part the games are simple and easy to finish.
