Is the 360 the more hardcore console?

As for the topic, I disagree. There's so many people who own a 360 for just halo/cod and that's it. They don't even know about other games like Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption, etc.

360 owners have been throwing around the term "hardcore" for years now, and I really have no idea what that means. You even heard it from IGN and Gamespot about how the 360 was the system of choice for hardcore gamers. Yet, millions of PS3 owners were playing basically the same games LOL. Even compared to the Wii, what is hardcore? Most gamers have owned a Nintendo system at some point. Wii has the platforming and adventure series we all played anyway. If you still like those kinds of games instead of all Halo/Gears/COD, then Wii beats the pants off of 360. So then, is someone less "hardcore" for playing Super Mario Galaxy or Little Big Planet? If those are casual, then why stop there? Why not add in every RPG or Action/Adventure game that isn't dark, grizzly, and full of blood and gore? Maybe we could add in racing games too because they are straight forward to play the way casual gamers like it. You know...forget all that..."hardcore" = shooters!!! There. Done. I have argued OR should I say...DEBATED this topic a 100x. To me hardcore is someone who takes his or hers hobby,job,lifestyle to an extreme. That person knows this "hobby" front,back and insideout. Michael Jordan was a hardcore bballer. Michael Jackson was a hardcore performer. I use to be a hardcore gamer as I knew everything about the game. Use to be tops of OGL boards ect.. A 50 year old mom can be a hardcore Wii gamer playing Mario or Wii Yoga...DOnt matter as long as thats what you do and you do it with your whole heart..

Wait... so now "hardcore" has to do with playing difficult games?

If that's the case, then... go play Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Wii.

I don't think any console is hardcore. I've had a 360 for a few years and all of the people on my friends list only played CoD, GTA and Halo and nothing else. I'm the only person I know who bought Alan Wake (then again, who did? :P) and most people I've met don't ever play games outside of FPS or Sandbox genres.

If anything I'd say the 360 is more casual, because from what I've experienced most players only use it for a couple of games and know virtually nothing about games outside of those genres. I can't really comment on the Ps3 community as I don't play online and only have a few gamers on my list.

I think it's the gamers who are hardcore or not, rather than the system they are playing. And I think the hardcore players in general don't restrict themselves to one platform, but will rather play a variety of genres on handhelds, consoles and PCs.

Honestly, the most hardcore game I've played in a while was Mirror's Edge. Trying to break the top 10 on the leaderboards on every speedrun and time trial was gruelling, but incredibly addicting as well. If you're tying to say that 360 players are superior to PS3 players in terms of skill, I would have to disagree. They're virtually identical in that respect. It just comes down to a matter of personal taste, nothing more, nothing less.

Okay I've noticed a few things with people who are PS3 only gamers and that's that they seem to complain about difficulty a lot more than 360 gamers (I'm looking at you Demons Soul's) and they also seem to kinda suck at COD. You see I have COD for my Xbox and althought I'm not the best I think I'm above average. I get around 25-35 kills in Domination usually and then when I played COD on my friend's PS3 I was getting around 40-50 kills at around rank 25 versus my 46.

Another problem I had is that I've heard a lot of people say thing about Demon's Souls like, "oh it's so freaking hard", or "I'm scared to even put it in my PS3". So I bought the game for my brother's PS3 and have like 40 hours on it. ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME? This is hard? This game is challenging but no where near the amount that people make it out to be. All of the bosses except Flamelurker, Man Eater, Tower Knight, and King Allant are EASY. I saw a youtube comment on a Dark Souls video saying "Xbox players have no idea what they're getting into" or something with like 40 thumbs up. I LMAO.

Anyone who complains about Demons Soul's should try playing Ninja Gaiden 2 on the XBOX 360. I think Tecmo were on to something when they made Sigma 2. Did any of you know that Sigma 2 is actually substantially easier than the original Ninja Gaiden 2? Also try playing COD 2 on Veteran, that is freaking brutal.

Okay I've come up with a theory about this. The PS3 also doubles as a Blue Ray player and multimedia center in general, and PSN is free. This leads me to believe that the PS3 attracts more casuals while with the 360 since you have to pay for online and it's more online focused that it is the primary console for a hardcore crowd. Not to mention that MLG is mostly on the PC and 360, not really the PS3.

What's your guys take on this?

Ok 1st of all theres no skill COD so I don't even think of it as hard core game.Try playing SC2 or SSF4.Now those are hardcore games that take a lot of effort to get good at.

2nd. Demons Souls is hard if you figure things out for yourself.A lot trial and error.If you just looked thigs up on demon souls wiki (and you did I would imagine) the game is quite easy.

Also theres much more challenge in DS PvP than in CoDs MP.
