I'm still going back and forth about this one. I have been a long time supporter of Nintendo through their NES, Super NES, N64, and Gamecube, but is the Wii going to keep getting the multi platform backing that they were lacking with the GC? That is honestly the only thing holding me back because I love me some Zelda, Mario, and Metroid games.

My concern is, how hard is it to play Madden on the Wii? I like sports games.

It's actually not too hard, except for defense. That takes a little getting used to. Otherwise, I think the gameplay is definitely superior for the Wii version.

I havent played it but the reviews say the controls are great. but I would play it first because I bet it really comes down to prefference on that kind of thing.

At this point the Wii has not gotten much 3rd party support compared to the other two current generation consoles out there so if you want to maybe wait and find out if the sales will keep on going the way they are for another six to twelve months then that will drive alot of 3rd party support. But remember in terms of multiplatform games alot of them will be very tacked on you cannot put a game like Saint's Row with a downgraded presentation and paste motion support on it and think it will turn out just as good as the 360 version.

Yes, but you might want to wait until the big 3 gets nearer their release dates. There aren't a lot of great games for the Wii yet, but I couldn't be happier to own one.

The Wii is a very different system.  i am sure it will have better 3rd party support then its predecessors but I dont think it will be amazing.  Its a system with hardware and control limitations which prevent devs from porting games with the PS3/360 hardware in mind and visa versa.  It also appeals to different audiences.  The Wii will lack many popular franchises because of its different controls but may get some exclusives in return built for the Wii and its audience.  If you enjoy the kind of games that are out for the Wii like its mini games, party games, and 1st party franchises then its the system for you but if your a fan of bigger 3rd party franchises the way you are used to playing them like Call of Duty, Need for Speed, RE, and others, you might be dissappointed.

Minus the slight issue of it being, you know, illegal and all. 'Sides which, I'd rather play those games the way they were supposed to be played, with the original, fully accurate sound, graphics, and controls. Whatever floats your boat though. Even if it does fly a skull and crossbones flag.

lol the wii controls put shame to the 360 and ps3 controls, but the whole getting a wii and 360 thing still semms like a good idea.

The Godfather Wii was the best version out of all the reiterations. This was due mostly to the controls. I don't see how Saint's Row with Wii controls can't be superior to the 360 version. Madden Wii was superior to the others based on the controls. You shouldn't assume that for multiplatform games the Wii version wouldn't hold up against the other ones.

True, it's graphical power is lacking, and a lot of developers cut corners with the motion sensing. However, as for 3rd party support, there have been indications that developers are noticing how the Wii is selling compared to its competitor, and are now looking to develop games for it, exclusive or not. Sega's been supporting it heavily from the start, and apparently Hideo Kojima (MGS series), Goichi Suda (killer7) and Shinji Mikami (Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, God Hand) are already developing titles for it collaboratively. That's just so far, I'm sure E3 will bring a lot more names to the table. In my opinion of course.

pc gamers have been enjoying nes,snes,n64 for years now! and for free....

Its milkage if you don't have any friends to play with. The VC will allow you and your FRIENDS to play the multiplayer games like Mario Kart 64, Contra III ect. like they where supposed to played.  I truly doubt people want to gather around a PC and play.  It really comes down to a personal preference and if you really think 5 to 10 bucks is to expensive for some classic gaming.

I think this is a pretty accurate statement. Recently, my friend bought Mario Kart 64 from the VC and we were having a party. It was so much fun playing 4 player Mario Kart and this experience can't be easily duplicated over the PC.

All you get with the Wii that's new in comparison to the last-gen Gamecube is a new controller. The graphical improvement is minimal at best and so far, there's no real online experience (I'd wait for that). The Mii's are a fun concept, granted, but limited in what you can do with them in terms of playability and creation. The software available for the system so far is really just what you'd see on the gamecube or any other Nintendo system and garbage. Seriously, the only title close to being considered AAA on the Wii is Zelda. Aside from that, you've got a WiiSports and Wario Ware that are good games, but you better have company or a few brothers and/or sisters to make those games fun.

And what's the year's biggest releases for the Wii? Why, none other than Mario, Super Smash Bros. and Metroid. Sorry, but you know that Smash Bros. will just be the same game it was on gamecube outside of the controls and the same goes for Metroid. As for Mario, how much more can you take? His last 3D console platformer (Sunshine) was a bust.....and there's Strikers, Doctor, Tennis, Golf, Kart, blah blah blah.....and you know that just like Gamecube, Mario will be the only thing worth buying on this system eventually.

I don't think it's worth your money to pay for something you may already have. It is really just a gamecube with a motion sensivitive controller and trust me, for the hours I've played it with my friends, that motion sensor does not like work very well all the time. Say what you want about the PS3, but its sixaxis functions lightyears ahead of the Wii remote for reliability. Sorry, but the Wii's not worth it unless you've got a constant flow of people coming in and out of your house and all you really want to play is multiplayer. Outside of that, I really think people are wasting their money and time with this system. I'm not saying go buy a PS3 either, cause everyone and their mother should wait until at least Lair to even think about that to see if Sony finally lives up to their promises. I really do think the X360 is the only system worth the buy still even though the other two have been in existance for 6 months plus already.....

Wii has Zelda TP, SSBB, Mario Party, Super paper Mario, RE chronicles, RE4 wii edition and.....wait....to come and think of it, there aren't that many games....

I say if a gamer is an FPS gamer, the 360 is a good system and if the gamers a single player adventurer, the Wii's good.

I don't know about the PS3 that much so no comment there...

Well, I should have used "imo" for Godfather, so that was my fault. As for Saint's row, although the difficulty in porting it over to the Wii is true, it doesn't necessarily mean it'll be an inferior game. It really does depend on the dev though. If they put as much effort into multiplatform efforts as EA seems to be doing, then Saint's Row can be successful.

Like I said, it really depends on the devs. And in a way, you mention that yourself. Ubisoft has made some bad ports. That doesn't mean that games like Saint's Row would automatically be bad as you have assumed. It really depends on the devs. And like you said, it depends on the proper amount of time spent working on the game. If devs do that, then games like Saint's Row should be good.

The system is amazing fun if you have a faimly, I own all 4 last gen systems but me and my son were the only ones who played them. But with the Wii my whole family plays games and I have never had has much fun playing games before. It great playing with you wife who looks at halo or Mario Kart like they are from another world.

I am not sure where you get the Godfather for the Wii being the best version. According to Gamespot the Wii version got a 7.6 just like the PS3 vesion. The 360 version got a 7.9 and the PS2 version got an 8.1. The godfather was also a game that was ported to the next gen consoles from the PS2. SO it is a last gen. game ported to next gen, which the Wii has no problem doing since it has many sucessful PS2 ports but Saints Row is a next gen game which would have to be downgraded for the Wii, not so easily and successfully done.

Zhengi

What he said + I am not saying the Wii will always get crappy multiplats i am just saying alot of them have been crappy because devs are simply pasteing the controls on, i can name companies (specifically Ubisoft) that are not using the motion sensing too it's best. I'm just saying Nintendo owners should not be happy about PS2 ports, to get the best out of the Wii you need to really spend a proper amount of time to show what the Wii can do, there is just alot of comotion with porting games to the Wii.

Indeed it does depend on the devs but i am calling out a problem alot of Wii games have, tacked on ports and just expect  companies like Ubisoft to keep on giving Nintendo crap.

Yes,the Wii is worth buying right now. Some of the big titles are coming out later this year, and I'm sure you'll find some games right now that will keep you interested while those titles come out, along with Virtual Console titles.

One thing is for sure, currently...the Wii has practically no sport games apart from Tiger woods and Madden. Madden is pretty sweet, and I can't wait for 08'. Also theirs The Bigs...so a bit of baseball.

The software available for the system so far is really just what you'd see on the gamecube or any other Nintendo systemand garbage.

I really do think the X360 is the only system worth the buy still even though the other two have been in existance for 6 months plus already.....

god your just a sad fanboy got no prove or no development kit on wii :| go do something better than predicting crap

I've got a Wii and I couldn't be happier. It doesn't have a ton of great games, but the great games it has are simply amazing.

Also, in terms of 3rd party, don't look for the Wii to get a bunch of multiplatform support with the 360 and PS3. Instead, look for more 3rd party exclusives.

Soon it will be, I would hold off for some better games and you will have a better selection to choose from. Right now Super Paper Mario and Zelda are the only two solid great games, SSX Blur is average and Wario Ware wont keep you interested without playing with friends.

I hope you enjoy spending some time in jail for piracy then. Not to mention controls for N64 games suck since they cant be done on a conventional gamepad or a keyboard and mouse.

Funny I can play online with mario kart.... and my pc...

Well I can play online with every n64 game that has multi.

i have a wii and honestly it doesnt occupy me much. i think im just not a real big fan of waving my arms around for everything. im playing a video game cuz i dont want to move. it is loads of fun if you have other people there, but sitting alone waving your arms gets old. so think about how you will use your wii. the $250 price tag does tend to suck you in

I think the Wii is worth buying if they can bring over the talents that the DS has like iNis and others.

I think right now, sure, it has a good summer ahead with Pokemon, Mario Party, and Mario Strikers Charged.Â
