When I bought it, I bought it solely because of Blu-Ray, I had no intention of buying games for it. Ever. Then the POS decided it didn't like to read any of my disk... so I had to get my money back. I lost around $100 considering I couldn't replace it -- thank Sony and their all mighty wisdom of creating so many ****ing SKUs and then discontinue them after a little while.
I got mine to buy multiplats on (obviously only the ones that score the same or better). My 360 broke twice, and I got sick of waiting for my console to show up and the paranoia that maybe this was the day that it will break again.
I actually own 7 PS3 games (mostly sports titles), and only 2 360 games at this point. The 360 has better exclusives though IMO.

this, but mainly for games 35 blue-ray disc GAMES, and 14 psn titles since APril...the only people who don't buy games for it are the lems who bought it for 1 game... and bash it on these forums.... PS3 has great games and I always see people at gamestop buying games! I should know I am in there buying games for ps3/psp/pc/ds at least 1-2x a week!

It's absolutely abysmal for video games, but the PS3 does make a fine Blu Ray player. It plays so many movies, like The Dark Knight, Wall-E and Metal Gear Solid 4.

I'm pretty sure people buying PS3s is better than people not buying PS3s, sure they wont make a profit but it's better than it sitting on a store shelf.
Oh and also, the people who bought it only for blu-ray are purchasing blu-rays.

If you are buying Blu-Rays, you may or may not be supporting Sony through money, since Sony makes very little money, if any, off Blu-Rays that are not from one of their studios.
I dont have a ps3, but option number 2 if I had one.
Ps3 is actually pretty underrated games wise (imo it has good games), and it's cheap for a blu ray player.

I wouldn't say it's cheap for a BD player.....You can get a BD player for half it's price. Anyway, I bought my PS3 for MGS4.....I was soo boosted for it. I saved money, and bought one, then I bought MGS4 at launch, was kinda dissappointed, and I used it for Blu-Ray. I then sold my 40GB, and bought a 60GB off a guy on craigslist, and I have been fine since I can play PS2 games also.

I expected these results. But if we can't get proof from this forum to use for this argument, why argue about it at all in this forum? And im sure the PS3 hasn't gotten Sony any money, because they profit from software as I said earlier.

Most bought it to play games despite what fanboys would like you to think. Resistance 1 = Over 3 million copies. Uncharted = Over 2 million copies. Resistance 2 = now around 1.5 million copies. LBP = Over 1 million copies (was around 1.3 million). Motorstorm = 3 million copies. etc etc. I could go on.
People buy these to play games. A very small minority buy them to watch movies. Fanboys like to say otherwise but they're wrong. It helps them feel better though so, heh, let them think it.
I'm guessing more than half of the 19 million who bought it did so for the games not the Bloo-Ray. That's why I bought it.Floppy_Jim
I think its the other way around. Many old foggies bought it for the bluray, many parents bought it for the bluray, and non gamers got it for the bluray also. Only the kids and hardcore gamers stuck on PS brand name bought it for the games. I mean, we all know its not the most popular gaming console on the market. (for games)
