Expect the PS3 to pass the 360 in world wide sales by December 2008.D0013ER
It took you entirely too many words to say, "Just wait."
5 million units shipped does not mean sold to consumers. If that's what you're going by than the Xbox 360 "sold" over 12 million.BreakingPoint8

Do you have some other source besides the guy who said, and I quote, "The next generation doesn't start until we say it does."?

Huh? Should we expect it to do so right now? We have to wait for almost everything to happen in this world. It's called time. Most people don't find such a concept funny.[QUOTE="BreakingPoint8"]5 million units shipped does not mean sold to consumers. Sold to retailers, kid.

Most people don't find such a concept funny.well its true, cows keep just talking about 2008 now. It used to be, just wait until 2007. The 360 seems to be performing similar to the ps1 and ps2, the sales spike has been huge since the price drop and Halo 3. And its just the beginning, how can the ps3 catch up by 2008?
I didnt make the thread sir/mam. Once again, getting into your feelings? :shock:Magical_ZebraThe thread creator didn't laugh at the concept of time.
point is, the 360 is6 million in the lead which means the ps3 is gonna have to start selling twice as much as the 360 on a monthly basis some time soon before the gap becomes too wide if sony wants to catch up.
cows seem to think that once three certain games (GT5, MGS, FF)come out its all gonna be fine and dandy
the ps3 is currently selling at a slower rate than the gamecube, if it keepes up like that, cows can expect third parties to drop like flies and 10 month game droughtsover the next few years.
[QUOTE="-Spock-"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]It's not selling good either.kevy619
The only console that's selling good this generation is the Wii..
The 360 is outselling that atm, atleast in north america. Its also destroying the ps3 in sales atm.
North America is only one region. Worldwide is a different matter - in just half the time on the market, the Wii has almost surpassed the Xbox 360 in total units sold. That's incredible. And a big factor in its success seems to be Japan, which is the 360's biggest weak point. With over 3 million Wii units sold in the region alone, it's hard proof that the Japanese market matters a lot. Face it, the Wii has won.

its already starting, but the ps3 still has decent support in japan. The ps3 feels alot like the sega saturn to me.

Yes, Ill admit it. The wii has won in hardware sales, but the xbox 360 is killing it in software sales. I guess that shows just who is buying both consoles.
the 360 is still outselling the ps3 every single month. plus alot of those sales are from loyal sony fans, ps3 sales have fallen drastically since launch. sony are even getting desperate now, with price drops and new skus within the first year. microsoft will never be desperate, they know they can simply just outlast sony and win by default.kevy619
Nope, Sony is winning now.

I think in this context Sony did actually state the number sold to consumers. I believe this was reported for a while because MS had been creating additional consoles and shipping them to pad numbers, and everyone was surprised that Sony had actually just stated the number actually sold, since we know that they have had plenty of opportunities prior to the price drop to count all of the units sitting on shelves shipped but not sold.

Sony likes to lie, and tell half-truths.
[QUOTE="soldier-dark"]Price drop won't do much, the Wii and 360 are cheaper, and have been advertised a lot better than PS3.shumoc
Well if the price drop ain't enough, then Uncharted sure as hell is.
As long as they get a good enough advertising campaign to get the casuals and hardcore gamers to buy the game, Uncharted will probably help, but one game won't get them ahead. MGS4 will probably be a big booster and maybe the new Final Fantasy, but those are in 2008, and it might be too late to catch up then. Though, we'll see how it does in the holiday season, that's were they'll probably start to catch up if they do at all.Yes, Ill admit it. True, even if the Wii is outselling the Xbox 360, the developers will still be attracted to the high attach rate. Increasing third-party support is the main thing that will keep it afloat throughout this gen.
 Lemmings, they are just mad the 360 isnt selling so well. Who knows if its even at 11 million, this is microsoft wer talking about, heck it could still be at 10, while PS3 is at a stead 5.5 millGarchomPro
You know whats really funny? Cows saying the ps3 is selling well.

It would take a lot to kill the PS3 or classify as a failure in any sense other than successor to the PS2 (I don't think ay console could be a "success" after that). Sony has the largest collection of first party publishers out of any of the console manufacturers and last year they had 80 first party games in developement for the PS3 (of course maybe one in ten will be good and one in twenty great) but that is a large number of exclusives and few of which are likely to be AA or AAA games.

I wouldn't say that exactly, 360 software sales come from having a pretty solid library of quality games. Wii isn't on the quality level yet, though its getting there. This fall is pretty good for Wii, they have a lot of solid games coming out and I expect 2008 to continue the quality trend.
