Is the PS3 worth $400?

IS IT? I am extremely interested in the PS3 but I do hear that it isnt worth the cost. I want PS3 owners to tell me, does the PS3 have good online and offline multiplayer, do they have any problems like the Xbox(RROD), are the games worth $60 a pop, will i be able to buy a decent game for it that i can play with my good teen friends and do the controllers have rumble. I want a PS3 to go with my awsome Wii but i want faqs before i spend alot of money.wiidog

It's worth every penny in my opinion.

-The online is what you'd expect for free, very good service.

-There are problems. Disc read errors and the yellow light, but they are somewhat rare.

-The games are worth $60 a pop easily.

-The controllers do not have rumble, but they will very soon.

Xbox 360 fans say that $50 dollars a year is worth the money to get a p2p online service...seing as how PS3's online service is free...I think it's at least woth that.

40GB, free on-line, bluray player, excellent dvd player, built in wifi, but u cant play ps2 games u would have to buy the 80GB if u care its $500, and u have to buy hdmi cable best deals are on-line u can find them from about $5 and up. yes the ps3 has good on-line games but dont know offline multilayer games.the ps3 has rumble controls but only in Japan right now but shortly they will release it in the USA in April i think. as far as i know the ps3 doesn't have any problems like the x360 1% failure rate that's what i heard.

since i dont know what kind of games u like i will name just few online and singel player games u might like or not.

uncharted, hevenly sword, rent them i would say they are short and singel player games too.

buy UT3 great online games and the mods are awesome you will be playing this game for a while, wharhawk, motorstorm, call of duty 4,games i am looking forward to this year if they come out MGS4, LitteBigPlanet,Motorstorm2, Haze,Killzone and Resinstents2

IF..and only IF, the PS3 original design (60gb) were to be priced at $400 then perhaps I would be interested in getting it. The original design had the hardware compatibility to play all PS2 and PS1 games. The 80gb version only has a software compatability (emulation) which means that some games wont play. The 40gb has no backwards compatibility would would be one of the major selling points for me.

It's original release was absolutely rediculous and I still think that $400 is too much for a proprietary gaming platform when you can get a fairly decent computer at that price.

i do too! but i still cant afford to shell out that much, what with bills, gas money, food, clothes, etc.
i'll just stick with my awesome PS2 for the next 3 years.:D

if you like blu-ray movies then yes it is, if you just strictly play games then not really..

The fact that online is free and offers up a good service as LIVE is a benifit.

It also plays blu ray movies.

I have all systems, the ONLY worthy 100% system is 360 for me, in short i would never suggest getting a PS3, if you do not have a 360 and all its best games first
