Yes.
1. Awesome lineup of games.
2. PS3's ability to turn it into a next-gen PC.
3. PSN is getting better and better.
4. Good online games.
5. Home is coming soon enough.
sorry but i hate these comments do you buy a next gen system to play last gen games seriously.[QUOTE="shoeman12"]with no backwards compatibility? no.daveg1
ps i even redid your misspellings:)
i don't own a ps2 so if i were to ever get a ps3, i would want it to be backwards compatible so i could play all the games i missed out on.
p.s i even redid your grammar mistakes :P
[QUOTE="saolin323"]I have all systems, the ONLY worthy 100% system is 360 for me, in short i would never suggest getting a PS3, if you do not have a 360 and all its best games first
If you do have a 360, then by all means get a PS3 too, if you have cash to spare

You dont have all systems...
You spout hate on the PS3, Wii and PC all the time. If you even have (which I doubt) a next gen system its deffo the 360. Your 'My PS3, is gathering dust' threads are abviously fake.
Your a fan boi hater that tells lies in every post and everyone knows your a joke in system wars, you have actualy beaten Wok7. Congrats.
He actually does have a ps3, he even posted pictures of it on a thread. Just please don't get him started on his favorite franchise this first thread I've seen him in with no tree pictures.
BluRay Player? Yes
Great Games? Yes
How could it not be worth it. I am getting one next month since BluRay won and MGS4 will kill ALL!!

If you're looking for the strongest selection of games go with the Xbox 360. Not only is the game selection quite a bit larger but a lot of the launch games are dirt cheap. You can build a decent library with $120 on the Xbox 360. The same $120 would only get you 2-4 good games on the PS3. If you don't have a gaming PC the Xbox 360 has some great exclusives right now. Gears of War, Forza 2, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey. That's just naming a few, too.
Of course, Sony's first party development team is amazing and the PS3 is due to get some great looking exclusive titles. PS3 owners have MGS4, Little Big Planet, GT 5: Prologue, Haze, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Final Fantasy 13 and 13 VS, and many more should all be released in less than one year.
You should really look at all the games avaliable for both systems and then look at all the games that are coming out. See what interests you. Most games are multiplat this generation anyways.
If you're interested in MP you should factor in the cost of XBL. $50/year isn't a huge deal, but when I was younger something like that may have been a deal breaker due to limited funds.
The Xbox 360 is notorious for the RROD which is covered for 3 years. It also is prone to many other issues that are only covered for one year. The PS3's biggest issue seems to be with the optic drive which is covered for one year. All in all, it seems like the PS3 is much more dependable and I could see mine lasting for many, many years. It's really hard to say that about the Xbox 360 which will probably not make it past it's warranty.
If you own or plan to own an HDTV the PS3's BD playback may be a factor. In five years I imagine BD will have almost completely replaced DVD. The PS3 can also upscale DVDs to 1080p which makes a big difference if you're watching on an HDTV.
The PS3 can also stream media from a PC which makes it a very nice multimedia hub. It's great to be able to stream music, movies, and pictures to a television. You can also use a PS3 to stream media to a PSP. It's very cool to have your entire multimedia selections avaliable anywhere with wifi.
Really, it depends on what you're looking for. I think the PS3 is a much better value compared to the Xbox 360, though.
