On sales we can't be sure but some tracker sites have xbox360 with their year head start at 11 million, Wii 5.5 million and PS3 at 3 million. But is that the end of the story, which console are people putting their money into? I used Uk price because its easier for me but it would be about:-

xbox360 11,000,000 units x £280 = £3,080,000,000

wii 5,500,000 x £180 = £990,000,000

ps3 3,000,000 x £425 = £1,275,000,000

so Sony has taken more money back from its consoles then Nintendo have, maybe the world just hasn't got the other £1.3billion needed to match the wii's sales. as for Microsoft, 3billion in a year, why does bill gates bother, chump change.

lets say that the first 4 million of xbox 360 where sold at an average loss of $15 a piece...that is - $60,000,000

then they profited an average of 50 bucks per console after...............................................thats $300,000,000

so lets say they end up with $240,000,000

wii is profiting from the start...i would guess at 50 bucks and .............................................thats $250,000,000

right now PS3 is way in the negative...

Needs a net profit margin really.

Aside from that, its software which will push console sales and software comes to consoles with high attach rates and large amounts of units in homes.

i didn't mean it about profit taken. i meant more families might be buying wii's but i think gamers as a whole are still more confident to but their money in sony

Uh, Sony loses lots of money on every system sold, Nintendo makes about $50, and MS started losing money but now makes about $75 per system (not factoring in the new Elite stuff).

That arguement is terrible. The Wii has sold more systems than the PS3, therefore more gamers own that system. Simple as that.

If more people thought the PS3 was actually worth the price, then more people would be buying it. It's clear right now that to most people the Wii is a better value than the PS3. The revenue is really a meaningless statistic in all ways.
