the wii is the dominant console in sales worldwide and even tho most of the content havent been great, its still findin a way to sell. has nintendo redeemed they self?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
it does have more high scoring exclusives than either the 360 or the ps3.

please dont say this fanboys are going to come in here and talk about multiplats which will have nothing to do with your post just because the wii is superior then the other 2 consoles in something:P.

Plus, anything below 9.0 is automatically unplayable garbage... Unless it's on the HD consoles, then it's a cool AA game.

I second this
The Wii only redeemed Nintendo in the stock holders eyes. Frankly, I think the GC was a better console.
So much fail in the title alone...
Anyway, I guess the Wii is better considering it has GCN backward compatibility built in. If you own a Wii go buy Gamecube games for cheap and play those.
as far big exclusive games (since that what most of the people who come to these kind of websites probably think more about, including myself)
Nintendo screwed the pooch on the latter half of 2008 and most of 2009, i think if they had filled that time with as many games that are coming out this year back then it would be seen in a better light
Well, the Wii helped make up for GC's not so impressive sales, yes.
I for one like both Nintendo consoles, though.
The VC and GC backwards compatibility had more to do with my purchase than Wii software itself did. So I'm not so sure.

thats what i would tell the ps3 owners as well , because the ps2 games were so much better. but i forgot that the ps3 dosent play any of them at all :/
still better then the xbox360 though, which dosent play any as well, atlast the ps3 can play ps1 games.
even if there isnt really a loss on the xbox side, becouse it didnt have many great games.

This, Sony and Microsoft can't even do this right...[QUOTE="PatchMaster"]

xbox 360 has backwards compatibility
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm
just not full B/C, so there's some titles that didn't make the cut (like my copy of MGS2 for xbox)
but anyways i'm appreciating my Wii's B/C as i missed out on a lot of gamecube games that i'm playing atm on it
[QUOTE="SteveTabernacle"]This, Sony and Microsoft can't even do this right... Well, Sony did it right for a few months, anyway. MS has DECENT backwards compatibility. Not great, but they did manage to get some notable games supported even if they didn't light the world ablaze with sales. Though why they deemed Kabuki Warriors worthy of BC support, I will never know. The VC and GC backwards compatibility had more to do with my purchase than Wii software itself did. So I'm not so sure.

Where the hell is the xbox support now? Its gone..This is true, unfortunately games like cooking mama dont cater to my personal taste though.it does have more high scoring exclusives than either the 360 or the ps3.

SCEA is blatantly incompetent about PSone games. They support the feature, sure. But the last few weeks worth of additions are grade A garbage, steaming hot dog crap. Games that were bad when they came out, and haven't exactly aged well since then. They have no idea what a "PSone classic" is. PS2 games are coming. I expect a reveal at E3. It's one of the things left to come to fruition from those leaked notes for a Sega/Sony meeting. (also expect to see more digital download Dreamcast games, aside from the already known Sonic Adventure XBLA port) Those leaked notes were legit. Hopefully they can use that feature better than the abysmal misuse of digital PSone games.

The EU PlayStation Store is particularly bad. I can't believe anybody in their right mind would pay to download Hardcore 4X4 and Creatures 2.
I've always loved every Nintendo console until the Wii. Ironically I didn't consider myself a full-on ''sheep'' until the start of this gen, when I got a Wii on launch day. Then I started... to turn... :evil:So every non-sheep who liked the Gamecube is a hypocrite now? Sound logic.

??I agree about Gamecube having a better library, but the bolded part? No, just no. Sure, it's their lowest system (lower than NES), but it soils Nintendo's name? Really. :|The Gamecube was an excellent console for its generation and still has a better library than the Wii. If anything the Wii has soiled Nintendo's name, even if its their greatest financial success in many years.tomarlyn
From nintendo's side i'd say they never had to redeem at all.
The 3rd parties haven't redeemed themselves no.
(At least, most of them.)

Although there's always people asking if the Wii is your last Nintendo console (I wouldn't be a party to that though), so I'm not the only one that thinks its damaged Nintendo's image.[QUOTE="tomarlyn"]??

just remember we on these forums are very few to the gaming population
The Gamecube was awesome, what are you talking about?Willy105
Indeed, look at these awesome games with awesome standards
Throw in Metroid Prime, Zelda TP and Smash Bro's as well if you want (none of which I owned for the Gamecube).
Then look at the Wii's library, where would it be without Mario Galaxy?

We may not make up the entire market, but we are the bread and butter customers. I really couldn't care less what soccer mom and little timmy thinks about the direction of the gaming industry, call me arrogant if you want.[QUOTE="Mario1331"]

your not arrogant you have your own opinion but many people love the wii, and im betting 8/10 does not think their image is soiled especially since they produce high quality games still.
I still love my purple lunchbox! It and the saturn are my two favorite systems ever! Seriously radiant silver gun and cubivore still get tons of play time in my house!
