I'd actually take the 360 over the PC for multiplayer, although that may be because of my bad experiences with PC multiplayer gaming circa 2001, where you had to have a different account for seemingly every game. I still have nightmares about the bunch of sticky notes I had that I think had 14 or 15 different accounts and passwords on them.

Pro_wrestler

I have had way more nasty experiences on XBL than I ever have on the PC. Too many immature kids. In my experience, the PC has a much broader player base, usually older. It's funny, the editors at 1up, IGN, and a whole host of other sites speak of this as well.

Overall though, as far as consoles goes, MS did a great job. And also don't forget, this month, Live comes to the PC as well, but I like Xfire for my PC gaming hands down. Xfire's been doing what XBL does for years.

Exactly, further backing my claims as to why PC gaming/online play is a bit more complex than console gaming/online play. Just look at the user base, mindless immature kids on live. Tech savvy older adults on PC/Xfire etc..

Way to try to turn a negative to a positive....

LMAO! I was'nt bashing PC games/online play or am I bashing Console online play or its users, there is an abundance of immature kids on live though, especially Gears Of War.. This is why Bungie spearheaded the idea of the "Shut the hell up" but in Halo 3 online.

have you ever played CS S covered in porn sprays?

How do you get Live for free?  Also PC will have Live anywhere and you can play on a unified service for free with pc games sporting the games for windows logo.  You only pay for Live anywhere if you are gonna play cross platform like Shadowrun.

"bu bu you need a $3000 computer to play online" I personally think Live made it much easier to play games with your friends over highspeed connections. In my opinion, for gaming in general, PCs have way to many variables.

I built a pc for $553.74 and I can play BF2 with 64 players. You 360 owners can eat that:lol:

The PC has mics, and like said previously, all multiplayer games have voice support. The PC is a wide open platform, hence why it isn't unified,  and there are different options for the user, which in turn allows for people to use mic if they choose. But also saying that, every game is unified on their own, since they have built in voice chat. Also, by using an app like Xifire, you can chat at anytime.  I do, and so do my buddies, so voice chat is something I'm used to on PC.

I wouldn't say that everyone cheats, that is far from true. There are cheaters, but there are easy ways to avoid them. Infinity Ward is coming out with their own system much like VAC is used on Steam, which works very effeciently. PunkBuster is great as well, and is used in many games. Not to mention, it's not hard for people to get caught cheating, and once that's uncovered, they are almost always insta-banned from the service and/or server. It's one of the trade offs of having a wide open system.

Teamkilling is only a problem when you enter a server where there are a bunch of &*&holes, but I haven't had that many problems. An easy way to aviod that is to go on servers where Friendly Fire is off, which is the majority of servers I have played on, so that's not an issue for me.

Like I said, for consoles, MS hit a home run with their service, but at the same time, I don't think anyone should have to pay for P2P online play, as I'm used to having it for free and it doesn't cost MS a penny.  I think in due time, MS will enable their service for free, as they already make money through selling content, movies, and whatever. This should be plenty to support their service. But at this time, that's only speculation, but it would give a definite edge over their competition.

thats not what I asked, I asked how many people in a 64 player room in BF2 have mics. The correct answer would be about Zero, I hardly ever see rooms with people in it with mics.

Xbox Live is so nice and polished, I acutally prefer it over PC online, because of the friends factor. Between all my friends in real life who have their Xbox 360s or who are waiting for Halo 3 to get them plus the friends I meet on Live, theres always friends to play with and its easy to get in a game and chat and have fun with them. One of the prime reasons Xbox 360 is the most fun and best overall console this gen.

you can never tell for sure since the game purposefully only lets you communicate with your squadmates...or 5 other people max.

many do have mics....especially if you join a clan...where almost everybody uses one.

What is the purpose of a Mic?

To let 9 years old scream..and ask mommy for chocolate milk..come on.

I only used the Mic to trash talk (I admit :) when I had Xbox-Live...and never once heard anybody use the Mic in a beneficial way..

I play CS:S, they are alot of people that are the same way but they are also people that use the Mic as a strategic tool..most clan won't let you join without a mic..because without that you limited your chances of winning..Now really think of how many times on Xbox Live someone used the mic in a beneficial way and the people actually followed..not once with my time on it.

PC will always have the edge on consoles for their ability to upgrade with the times. XBOX LIVE is the most unified online service though and works wonders. If I could wish for one thing though it would be more dedicated servers... *cough*cough*Gears of War*cough*...

Mic can be very useful, at the same time annoying. In Gears, you can win when you communicate, if you don't, most likely you'll lose unless you have so much skillz to do otherwise. gnutux
