Is there a game franchise no one hates?

Most popular games get hate. Most people say that it's overrated or not as good as it used to be. So my question to system wars is: Is there something we can all agree is great? Probably not, but I'm gunna try.

My personal contribution would be to say that Castlevania is probably one of the least hated franchises. I'm sure someone will prove me wrong. Anyway, what does SW think?Svarthek

I beat Lament of Innocent for ps2 mainly because I like Casltevania....but it wasn't that great. Not horrenous, but not excellent.

JK, Tetris rocks. Ummm... Half-Life, dude. No one hates Half-Life. At least no one who has the slightest clue what real gaming is all about.

We can't define like without dislike, so there will be people who dislike something. Even godly Tetris faulters at this, I am quite sure there are many individuals who don't like puzzle like themed games such as Tetris.There is no good without evil and no like without hate or dislike.

That seems pretty safe as far as franchises go. As far as one game goes. Super Mario 64 is about as safe as you can get practically. EVERYONE I know loves that game. I've seriously never heard anyone say anything bad about it.

Other votes go to Starcraft, Diablo, DOOM (- DOOM3) and Street Fighter. I have never seen anybody hate on those games, other than the fact that DOOM has aged poorly.

ya know, i'm a big halo fan but i think you're right. Halo has fun multiplayer but Timesplitter's is just amazing. I can't go over to a friends house without us playing a few rounds of timesplitters multiplayer, siberia, bald bots, all dual flare guns. Now when the make timesplitters 4, maybe they can include a better mapmaker.

I would say that a contender for least hated franchise might be earthbound/mother series. If simply that only 2% of gamers outside japan have played it, and all i've ever talked to have at least enjoyed earthbound.

However, if we're talking individual games i'd still like to nominate earthbound and chrono trigger on top of that. There must be a love to hate ratio of 99:1 with that game.

Of course there is ALWAYS going to be some stuck up bastard who dislikes some game or series :D The better question would be is there any franchise/game we can all agree is excellent/well made? I'd like to think so, but it seems some people in SW go by the rule that if they don't enjoy a game it must be becasue the game is actually crap. Please someone tell me its not too hard for gamers to dislike a game while still accepting its accomplishments and greatness.. perhaps you few who've said the mario platformer franchise?
