The game will run 1080p / 30fps on both consoles.

Fallout 4 will ship with bundled Falout 3 on Xbone.

Xbone will get mod support first, supposedly at the beginning of 2016. We don't know when and IF PS4 is going to get it.

If you aren't confined to a singular platform, is there a reason to get it on #4theplayers machine?

In this case? No.

FO4 is likely going to be more cpu intensive then CPU intensive, so might end up running better on the X1, the mod support? I am fairly confident that we will see that on the PS4 aswell, but it is true that we will see it on the x1 first.

I can not understand why you would pick it for any of the consoles to begin with. But if I were to pick one, the X1 seems the better candidate for this game.

Is there a reason to buy Fallout 4 on console period unless you have a PC build that is more than 3 years old?

I don't think so

I already preordered the XB1 version. I already own the Fallout 3 GOTY version on the XBox 360.

@frank_castle: True and you'll get unrestrained mod community, not filtered by MS or Sony. That can however have its downsides too, though. But mostly it's for the better.

Besides you can use a command console and when something gets broken you can fix it.

Recently the last Witcher 3 patch reversed one of my quest decisions and I couldn't do anything about it since it retroactively infected even previous saves upon reloading. This wouldn't have happened with console command.

Yes: you don't have an X1 or PC.

If you don't have a PC and own a PS4, I don't think the market is going to heavily prioritize picking up an X1 as opposed to getting a PC as a second system. But I could very well be wrong about that - the PC sticker price isn't something to look past.

Maybe it may have better LoD/framerate/shadows/etc. if both have a target of 1080p/capped 30fps.

If not, then I'm going to rent first on XB1 and when I can find a $ 15 sale on PC, I'll get the PC version.

Only if you don't have a PC. Even then, I'd still recommend that PS4 owners spend their money on a different game.

Mods will be the only thing that will redeem The Bethesda Game, as per usual.

#4theplayers in your post is a little much. MS shelled out some money for all the perks coming with FO4.

Not like Sony was like "We hate FO and we don't care what our gamers want".

Is there a reason to get Street Figher on Xbone? Oh right.

Doubt it would run well on my two year old laptop, so it's between PS4 and X1. Will probably get on X1.

@Salt_The_Fries: I don't believe the PR about the targeted resolution and framerate. That's just talk to sell their game.

Rocksteady said the same thing about their game for the last year and then Batman AK shipped at 900p for Xbone, 1080p PS4, and broken on PC. Longstory short, we can't assume anything about the final product of Fallout for Xbone or PS4.

The mods for Fallout seem cool, but we had that with Unreal on PS3 and not on 360 and in the end it wasn't a big deal, and that's assuming that the PS4 won't have mods which is a big assumption.

"While the developer has expressed their intent to also make Fallout 4 mods available on the PlayStation 4, the feature has not yet been officially confirmed for Sony’s current-gen platform." http://www.inquisitr.com/2199915/fallout-4-mods-still-need-sonys-approval-before-coming-to-ps4/

I don't see Sony not allowing mods as they've always been pretty lenient.

That said, Bethesda games are always glitchy and like all of Bethesda's games, this upcoming Fallout is best served on PC for sure. As a collector avoiding as much DRM as possible, I'm getting a physical C.E. on console, but I'm not sure version which yet until it releases. I'm not dying for it or anything.

most gamers are just on ps4 and will buy the game on ps4 bethseda should build the game on ps4 for the playerbase that matters the most and port it to bone and try to do dynamic res tricks or whatever they can and some gimpy mods that only work on pc

You are a lot better when you are being yourself instead of a corpo-whore shill :<

With mods I didn't mean the fact if Sony would have objections or not, rather the capacity to make them work on their consoles.

And I didn't assume MODS WON'T COME TO PS4. I assumed they MIGHT or MIGHT NOT(despite the claim that MAYBE THEY WILL AT LATER POINT) COME.

I am perfectly aware Unreal Tournament had mod support for PS3, but in case of Fallout or any Bethesda games mods are the single most important feature that drives sales and builds community on PC. So this is not an obscure feature.

I have no reason to discredit their 1080p/30fps claim as they said it in a very specific way that it is 1080p/30fps, plus Creation engine isn't a very taxing engine anyway.

How many Xbox One games actually launch at the same resolution and framerate as the PS4 version?

I'm curious. I mean triple A games wise. Because beyond that my question is why would one settle to play a Bethesda game at launch.

-It's guaranteed to be buggy
-it won't run properly
-it won't have good gameplay, that's a given
-glitches out the ass

Later versions will be patches, and if you own a PC, that game screams Steam Sale, 75%off, single digits. Especially if you are relatively well versed in PC rpgs, because you've gotten way the **** better than a Bethesda game.

:) Corpo-whore shill? Funny....haha. I thought that's the game you were playing when you created the thread regarding Fallout, eh? I was just playing along, lol. Devil's Advocate and whatnot, especially that whole bit with you declaring PR parity with games that aren't finished. I win either way since I have the consoles and can play any of the games I desire. It is you that cannot make the same claims, amigo. Whatever console version is better, you will be forced to buy it on Xbox, so good luck to you, I say.

My point about any game, Fallout or otherwise, is that is it unwise to declare parity before the game releases which is what you are banking on regarding Fallout. It just so happens we got a year+ of that same type of Parity PR hogwash (to not anger their fans and sell as many games as possible across multiple platforms) from Rocksteady and WB regarding Batman, only to see them fail to deliver parity with the final product. In fact, WB and Rocksteady were VERY quiet about the end result and seemed hopeful people wouldn't uncover the truth. WB certainly wasn't straightforward to the gamers. Anyways, why would gamers want a deliberately gimped version released? They wouldn't. I have all the machines, if one machine is better than another, then I think devs should exploit the hardware. It doesn't matter the game, I've said this about the freakin' Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS1, SNES, and other consoles before but it's the same today. Push the Xbone, the PS4, the Wii U, the PC as far as they can and want. The only reason these companies keep saying "parity" is to not piss off fanboys and not lose any sales.

Hey, it's certainly possible Fallout 4 will be 1080p/30fps across both machines...but maybe it won't. I certainly am not going to be believe the corpo-whore shills selling their game with their silly PR. Which is sort of what you did, didn't you? We've come full circle. Bottom-line, we just don't know the score until it's out.

It just so happens Bethesda make very buggy games as well. That also could be a factor in the purchasing of these games. Assuming the games are actually the same then we gamers with multiple machines might ask, "Which console version of fallout 4 will be less buggy?" Again though, the joke of "parity" and PR is a reoccurring pattern.

Company A tells us they will achieve parity, game fans don't worry, and buy their game!!!

Company A releases a game that in fact is better on one of the machines.

It's a pattern.

Solution: Stop believing the PR every time a new game is announced. People get excited, I get that. However, what you want to believe about their game is what they are telling you before it's out. It's not a coincidence. They want that excitement from fans and companies aren't going to tarnish that by saying people should buy a PS4 or Xbone since it will be better for the other machine. They want big sales on BOTH machines and more.

I do agree mods are pretty slick and if for some strange, odd reason the PS4 doesn't support mods, that might be a bonus for Xbone...but it's too early again to declare that the PS4 won't have that either as I cited above with a link (there are many). If Sony doesn't sign off, then that's going to be a nice bonus for Xbone.

That said, I am still unsure which console version I'm getting, but despite the DRM issues I have as a collector, PC seems the safest bet. Thing is, I was never a huge Bethesda fan, but this forum is, I get that, but I just don't see the glory in their games but I enjoy them.

You think because RockStaedy did a shitty job and made PC version of Batman AK a complete screw-up, now every PC ports are doomed to share the same fate?!

No, I never said that. That is silly and I am surprised that's what you gathered quite honestly. I'm actually floored as I re-read my comment. I even said at the end that this upcoming Fallout was best served on PC...

PC ports are fine, Batman experience is more an outlier. I own four gaming PCs, I have no horse in any race or want to make broad, sweeping generalizations using anecdotal evidence.

I wasn't speaking on PC other to point out we shouldn't trust PR designed to sell games and we should judge a game when it RELEASES and NOT BEFORE. That's it. For months, people have been saying BATMAN WAS TO BE BEST ON PC!!!! No one expected what happened, and that's my point. Until these games we speak of release, we shouldn't automatically assume, especially in the case of the Xbone and PS4, the games will be 1080p/30fps.

In the case of Fallout, like all Bethesda's products, it should be best on PC....but it will still be buggy because Bethesda.

Also, besides confusing my point entirely, you misspelled Rocksteady. I'm starting to wonder if your native tongue is English.

tl;dr?

Don't trust PR. Games are measured when they are done.

That's clearly not what he said. What he means is don't believe all the pr speak from devs. Why are trying twist his words.

Thank you.

I thought it was simple too. We can't trust PR, but we can hope for the best.

The wisest thing to do is to measure a game's final release instead of assuming XYZ PR is better than ABC PR. Both XYZ and ABC are just trying to sell me games.

And we have a winner!

I pre-ordered on ps4.... I played fallout 3 on 360 and dumped hundreds of hours into it. I think mods are great, pc is a wonderful platform for this game series, but I just don't care, I wanted it on my next gen console so I went with the ps4 edition. When I pick up an xone, perhaps I'll snag a cheap copy and play it again, but chances are, I'll be light-years away on my next games.

PC is the only real answer. If you can't play it on PC, then just buy it for the console you own (assuming performance is equal on both, if not, then the one that plays better).

PS4 is 50% more powerful

xbone version will drop frames or the game will run at higher settings on ps4

due to hardware u should never buy a game ever on xbone period no matter what even if theres dlc or mods

LOL you just sound dumb. It's 1080p 30fps on both systems so what are you talking about.

You release it on the PS4 cause there's probably 25 million PS4's sold out there, that's an easy question to answer.

@ProtossX: Presumably, the fallout 3 that's comes bundle is still the 360 version. They've never said it was remastered or remade. If this is the case, then you're getting fallout 3 for FREE as you're ONLY paying for Fallout 4. BC is free for games you CURRENTLY OWN, not games you played once and traded in. So, by bundling Falout 3 with Fallout 4, it gives people the ability to use it for BC.

I doubt the mod support will be open on X1. I bet they will restrict a lot.

Sry I wasn’t trying to twist his words but batman is really a bad example in this case and comparing Betheda to RockSteady is really wrong since PS4 was RockStaedy’s first priority, not to mention the deal they made with sony to keep some of the content exclusive for PS4.

the whole mods thing is likely a 6 mo deal or something. The fact that they are saying they are waiting for Sony approval is a joke because Sony has always been open to developer options when making games whether free stuff, mods or cross platform.

Clearly, especially giving the fact that they were on MS's stage at E3, MS punched a deal to have mods first on xbox, but the fact that they even mention that they are willing to do it on PS4 means they just have to wait until their timed deal with MS ends whenever that is.

No reason whatsoever. Plus the game will be heavy CPU bound. Say goodbye to those 30fps.

"But mah superior version!"
