PS3 is more like a fast minivan, built for all kinds of functions, but the 360 is made from the ground up to be a GAME console, like a purpose built race car.

If you still believe the lies from E305...please let me know. I'd like to know why (and get a good laugh in the process).

They did say a lot of weird things but nothing that is really a lie. I mean if they said PS3 will cost $299 then released it for $599 that would be a huge lie.

Yeah I remeber back in those days people were bashing PS3 almost more than now. It was going to cost at least $800, the hardware is actually way worse than 360, Sony will lock each game to a system (no rentals/used games)....tons of BS rumors brought up by fanboys.

Dual HDMI would be cool and if they ran games at 1080p 120fps...then that would be even better. but sadly the PS3 can't even run most games as good as the 360 does. So much for all that power.

Also IMPROVING the system isn't a lie...like losing the power brick. But telling you it will have features just to keep people from buying a 360 til they can get their garbage launched is alie. Everyone was expecting the PS3 to blow away the 360. And most now realize that the 360 is slightly more powerful. But there are still a few that only go on faith based on what sony has lied/told them....however, there is still not one bit of proof that the PS3 is even slightly more powerful than the 360 yet alone 2 times more powerful in gaming power.

Yea I agree, if it looks amazing it better be playable or else it will be the same thing all over again.

You know, I haven't committed to either of the next-gen machines yet, and I'm feeling better about that non-choice every day. I have a feeling PS3 will become a lot more viable sometime within the next six months. 360 is viable now, or it would be, if it didn't have that weird self-destruct fetish going on. MS never said that 360 wouldn't have a habit of melting itself, so it doesn't count as a lie... but...

I guess I'm looking at it this way: 360 would be a no-brainer if it didn't suicide--hopefully MS will make some changes soon to protect consumers from this. PS3 would be a no-brainer if it had more games (and it will) and if it saw a major price drop (>$100, which, someday, it should). So it's a race: will 360 stop melting first, or will PS3 build up a good library and see a MSRP under $500? Meantime, promises from two years ago seem less and less important by the second. I don't care about Velocity Girl and trading dolly-dresses with her or whatever, and I think we've all had enough time to get over Sony's E3 lies. I mean, have you guys seen Uncharted? Maybe they were just, you know, white lies.

Well, there is some debate on this issue. However, I believe the confusion is that we aren't speaking specs. MS called the 360 a true HD gaming experience. But then the PS3 came out with BR and 1080p capabilities. So it's hard to say that the 360 offers a true HD experience when another console offers more.

So people are talking more about the comparison and the so-called "experience" than actual TV type specs.

If you waited this long...just wait for the 65nm chips to come out. That should fix it.

Yes, you're right, the new fab should definitely take care of the problem--but when will the new design become available? I don't know. That's the point of my post; both systems have a shot at becoming the no-brainer purchase, and they both need to reach a condition that they're certain to reach, but which one will come first? I don't know.

There have been several lies and broken promises proven in this thread. For one...the KZ2 footage being realtime. Plus the 2 links that were posted is PROOF even though you both choose to ignore it. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him smart.

Do I believe that product statements made by Sony exist DESPITE their obvious absence from the system? No. Clearly. They aren't there. But I would argue that they didn't "lie". They previewed features that at the time were going into a product that was in development. They changed their mind due to cost, availability of components, whatever. E3 offers a glimpse of the development at it's current stage,a positionthat is never really static.

The point was brought up that the other consoles "lied", changing the stats they'd earlier stated as well. To which, you replied, that wasn't the focus of this post. They should make their OWN post.Well, that's rather underhanded of you.

Because CLEARLY ifinaccuracy in preliminary product reports isa problem that extends to other consoles, then it's a general gaming problem that should be addressed as such. And WOULD be addressed as such, unless it were a topic put together by a fanboy of an opposing system. So is this a fanboy rant, or do you genuinely dislike the gaming industry's penchant for overselling their product prior to release?
