Golden age I think lasted in 1998. And their was a Major Golden Age threw 2004-2005
that ws when the big hitters game out like Half Life 2, Halo 2, God of War and such.

Eh. That's just nostalgia talking.
Nope. Even with the inflated review scores of this gen, it still is better.
There was no element in a game back in those days as sophisticated and well realized as the Rapture in BioShock, or as unique and atmospheric as S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Well according to the majority gamers the PS1 would have to disagree...But the N64 did have some of my favorite games ever. Diddy Kong Racing-best Kart(not to mention plane and hovercrafts)racing game EVER:P
hell no. games are getting sucker and sucker by the minute. Games are doing less now then they did in the past. ReaperV7
ya where are games like Fallout 1 and 2 and Max Payne:cry:

Well, IMO, Max Payne 2 was the better game. As far as Fallout 1 and 2, well, Troika is long gone, so I guess your only other outlet for those old Interplay RPGs is Obsidian, which has really put out solid expansions after that disastrous NWN2 core game, or so I've heard. Mask of the Betrayer was very well received.

RPGs this gen pale in comparison to their 2D counterparts.

Crash Team Racing says HELLO!

SSCyborg
Okay, I'll give you that as far as Computer RPGs is concerned, but then again, only the Baldur's Gate, the Fallout, and Planescape could be considered as true classics. As for Japanese RPGs, I think that if we plugged the current games into the past and the past into the current gen, we'd feel the same way.
On that note though, strategy games and shooters and even action-adventure games have all evolved and become better realized than before

Oh come off it, that is obviously nostalgia. And calling the current review system "inflated" even more proves that. -_- *sigh*.
