I’m going to go with no because I’m hoping that it continues. The first was a very good game and the second one was even better.
No but the online space is extremely competitive these days. As a fan of shooters and Sci-fi stuff, and I really enjoyed TF1, I am the target audience for TF2. Loved the campaign but I had a hard time getting into the online for TF2 for some reason. It's not so much that I did not like it, but I often prefer to play something else. I think it is a great series and I would buy a sequel day 1 if it came out.
It failed so hard that EA bought the studio and IP for $400 million after the first game sold over 10 million copies.
Certainly seems like a failure to me...
Tough to say, Titanfall 1 sold well but Titanfall 2 sold like shit despite being a critically acclaimed game.
We'll see what happens if EA decides to do more with the franchise but knowing EA its future prospects aren't looking too hot right now.
The first had amazing Multi player but no campaign. The second had a really, really good campaign but multi player just wasn't that fun.
Hope they keep at it and find a way to combine the best of both worlds into the next one. No need to hate it's Multi Plat.
2 did not do well at launch for a lot of reasons. Bad launch date, and idiots in marketing at Respawn throwing shade at Xbox and it's fans,(Even though they had a marketing deal with Xbox) causing many to decide to skip it, and over estimating the amount of PS4 sales they thought they were going to get.
2. was really good but I am glad I got to play it on EA Access free.
Just need to ditch singleplayer next time and put all focus on multiplayer and expand it more. So much wasted on singleplayer when multiplayer was the selling point of the game and ripe for more after the success of TF1.
First one was really good, second game was better all around IMO.
If they did anything really wrong the second time around it wasn't having any Frontier Defense mode available right away.
Unfortunately yes. It was the flagship title for X1's launch and - among everything that happened to malign MS - Titanfall was collateral damage.
First game sucked.
Second game is awesome.
I look forward to the 3rd game.
It's hard to say whether or not it will happen. If it does, I'm not expecting it to be handled by Respawn (appears they're working on Star Wars games for EA now).
Titanfall 2 is a pretty damn Good SP FPS.
hope for Titanfall 3 to be more focus on its SP. its a SP franchise that EA market as MP franchise and thats why it failed.

SP is only good thing comes out of Titanfall. otherwise MP is basically COD with mechs.

Loved the first one online, only played 2-3 games of the second online. Campaign was badass though.
@stuff238: First game sucked.
Second game is awesome.
This post perfect sums up the attitude of most gamers these days. Games either suck or are awesome.
@ghosts4ever: The first get didn't even have SP, so how in the hell can it be a sp franchise?!? Lol, you must have taken a lot of blows to the head.
so what first game didnot? first game was half game sold at full price.
they made Titanfall 2 a single player game and its single player is actually only thing that turn out good. its SP portion is better than its MP.
Loved the TF2 SP, didn't even really play the MP
Same here. I really enjoy the single player campaign and I hardly ever bother with the MP on PC. The first Titanfall was fun, but get's old very quickly.
Thats the thing. TF2 SP was actually unique and it was my biggest surprised this gen. as i thought it was going to be bad.
i just bought it as it was on sale for $6 on xbox.. i liked the campaign
the multiplayer changes were garbage, i'm really tired of devs picking loadouts for me instead of letting me pick and choose weapon/perk combinations.. Destiny, COD, Titanfall.. get the **** out with that
Absolutely not.
I enjoyed Titanfall a lot from the moment I first tried the open beta.
The flow of the game was unlike any other online FPS, with the good being it was COD/MOHAA/arcade FPS gameplay perfected and the bad being the bots at times.
Titanfall 2 was a sequel that did everything right... well most of it.
The campaign was a great improvement, not only a solid FPS campaign but actually one of the best singleplayer FPS campaigns in recent years.
The multiplayer did improve in places, but on the other hand I feel they retooled the original Titanfall gameplay too much.
And sometimes Titans felt really throwaway, get one, it dies, get another one, it dies.
I think the singleplayer campaign told the bond between Titan and Pilot best of all, better than Titanfall 2's MP did.
But hey it had a free season pass / DLC. So that's great !
I wouldn't say "failed" per se, even though not a commercial hit, Titanfall is well received by the gamers, especially the second one, which I did play. TF2 was a real hidden gem and breath of fresh air amidst the shooter market with it's compelling campaign (albeit short) and fluid mechanics of combined gunplay & mobility.
But I would say it sure as hell was squandered by EA by being released right in between two of their own shooter juggernauts, Battlefield 1 and Star Wars Battlefront. As if it wasn't bad enough to be competing against the latest COD of the time. TF2 is a fantastic example of game design in FPS that deserved so much more opportunity to be experienced, but... EA's moronic mismanagement impeded the game's potential, hence the poor commercial standing.
If you wanna go with failure, it's because EA set it up to fail.
@ghosts4ever: Titanfall has more depth in multiplayer. You had ai grunts, you could clone yourself and sneak into objectives with ai and surprise people, you could hack spectres to fight along aide of you. Just a lot more could be done if they focused more on multiplayer.
The art books mentioned of giant creatures and would be cool to have that dynamic moment of fighting and the some beast comes in taking people off guard. More ai grunts with different levels besides the two and add in the ability to command them like a rts.
Ill take that over one and done singleplayer campaign.
