No Nintendo mentioned that there approach was not toward making a next gen console. They are focusing on the casual market this time around. People are buying Wii for the wrong reasons IMO. Its cheap and looks fun for the kiddies so lets get it for christmas. PASSInfinityMugen

yeah, people are only getting for xmas... apparently xmaslasts for 365 days

[QUOTE="MaTt345"]IMO the Wii's a joke. Sure it's fun to play and has decent games but Nintendo sold out and made a cheap system just to make money. I have lost all respect for Nintendo. I love the ds though. So in other words a big fat NO.whodeysay85
QFT

I second that.

The X360 and PS3 may be next gen in graphics and sound, but developers are still writing the same old stories but placing fancier covers on them. The Wii is next gen not in graphics but in User Interface.

I'm pretty sure next-gen means an upgrade in everything (even the PS3 controller and the Xbox 360 controller had an upgrade) Therefore the Wii is not next-gen because graphics and sound are not next-gen

Upgrade in everything, you say? It seems the Wii most certainly is upgraded when compared to the GameCube. Don't be silly. The PS3 and the 360 are not next-gen because they don't have next-gen controllers, omg.

All next-gen means is that it's the system that comes out after the present system. No matter how weak or strong the system is, it will still be next-gen. Live with it.

it is every gen each console makers upgrade the graphics, and this is why there is alot of graphics lovers they grew up with graphics evolving, but Nintendo decide to upgrade the graphics by a little(not by much by much as i can and i seen super mario galaxy its nice detailed but people prefer the graphics like gears and halo)and upgraded controls tremendouslywhile sony and m$ upgraded graphics wiith more powere but controls to minimal and sony did nothing really just addd stuff to it and took off the wire but back to the point when Nintendo did a good thing upgrade something that needs much more upgrading. Nintendo knows video gamings wont last forever with button tapping wont last forever.

Next gen defintion for me is upgrade from their last console.

Anyone who votes no is in straight denial.

Wii comes the generation after the GC so by definition its next gen.

The Wii IS next gen, by the simple criteria of second word in that term - gen. It's the generational successor to the Gamecube and Nintendo's newest product model, just as the PS3 is the generational successor to the PS2 and is Sony's newest product model.

It may not be as powerful it's other next gen competitors (Xbox 360 and PS3), but that fact is irrelevant to defining "next gen". That is simply a discussion of comparative performance, where there will always be diffrences in each system operating in the same time frame which is what the generations are. The Xbox being more powerful than the PS2 did not make the latter "last gen", so the same principle applies here.

Performance comparisons have nothing to do with generations, only which is the most current model that replaces the previous one.

Brilliant explanation. You owned this fanboy fool.
