Is Wii the first console winning with the worst library?

Going back - PS2, PS1, SNES, NES, Atari 2600 - I don't think any of those had the worst library among their competitors? ... am I missing something or did Nintendo usher us into a new era, where gimmicks > games?

The Wii does have a great library and some of the best exclusives this gen (which is nothing new for Nintendo), but overall I think most gamers would agree it has the worst all around library of the bunch.

I know its all preference at the end of the day anyways, but Wii having the weakest library is pretty much the general consensus.

By now the Wii already ran out of steam while the PS3 and Xbox are still getting new games from 3rd party's (which is non existant on the Wii) and many other exclusives like Halo 4 and Last of Us.

wii didnt have : fallout 3 , oblivion , skyrim , new vegas , bioshock 1 & 2 , mass effect series , dead space 1 & 2 , resident evil 5 , borderlands , arkham asylum & city , gta IV , saints row series , deus X human revolution , soul calibur 4 & 5 , crysis series , red dead redemption , street fighter/tekken , assasins creed series , FFXII 2 , max payne 3 , new mortal kombat , its just what comes to my mind theres lots more and im counting only multiplats of xbox/ps3

it won't have: borderlands 2 , assasins creed 3 , resident evil 6 , crysis 3 , far cry 3 , bioshock infinite , dead space 3 .... wait will it have any new games at all at this point ?

you may praise your wii as much as you want with sales and questionable exclusives , but it shouldnt be even compared to xbox or ps3 because of its unresponsive controls , lacking HD , worse sound quality , no online plattform which is worth mentioning , no patches and additional content (refering to the good ones) , and most importantly it didnt have the best games of this generation , in my opinion it should be disqualified from the gen because it didnt meet the minimal standards of it

All I'm saying is that you were listing all kinds of multiplats that the Wii missed and will continue to miss. Some good, some great, some meh, but all games the Wii will never be able to see. Good points.

But unresponsive controls? If you cant figure out how to properly use very simple controls that even non-gamers figured out in droves then I dont know what to tell you. They never gave me issues in all the years I've owned the console.

I'd say the lack of DLC on the Wii has been great! Games are typically packed with a good amount of content rather than being nickled and dimed down the road for every purchase you make. DLC in concept is a great thing, but in practice its been highly abused by most console devs. And its nice that most Wii games work and work well out the box without developers putting out broken crap to come back and patch down the road. I dont like paying full game price to be a beta tester.

And then you completely dismiss one of the Wiis strengths, which is the fact that it does have great exclusives, some of which are among the best games of the gen. Then you go on to list a handful of last gen games as somehow being the best and follow up with "that speaks for itself" lol. No, no it doesnt at all.

And on the multiplayer front, you make sure we know how bad the online is, but completely ignore the fact that the Wii is outstanding for local multiplayer.

If I were to take your argument style and apply it to the PS3 and 360 I could make those systems sound like sh*t as well. Just lazer focus on all the bad, completely ignore all the good, dismiss the best games on the platform and call it a day.

I'd say so, yes. Wii has some great exclusives, but the lack of 99% of the best multiplat games this gen makes the library worse than PS3 or 360.

unresponsive controls - they were really unresponsive especially in the nunchuck addon , i was shaking like crazy until i get a response ingame , for example the shield dash in zelda was almost impossible to do ontime exactly when i wanted

dlc and patches - although dlc is abused by publishers and milking customers they sometimes provide extended value in games , patches are essential for fixing the game

local multiplayer - i have two sets of tvs and ps3s and good coop games , thats what i call great local multuplayer being able to play locally with lots of other folks online

Well I'd get that control checked man. That sounds like some technical issue. Something is faulty with that nunchuck for sure.

As for the DLC and patches I can agree. The option should be there, but I'm glad the Wii was not bombarded by its ill use. And I do believe (not absolutely sure) that the Wii does infact support patches when necessary. Didn't SS get a patch for some game breaking glitch?

Where you prefer to play local mp is certainly up to preference, but you cant deny the Wii does very well in that respect.

I took it as hating because you did completely dismiss anything good that they system has going for it. The Wii does have a lot of great games that can not be found anywhere else and though it lacks multiplats to a terrible degree it does have a very unique library of its own.

As for previous systems, nothing will ever beat the SNES in my eyes! :P

IMO the Wii is like the 2600. It had a ton of games available on it. Most where not very good. I would equate Colecovision and Intellivision (what's up with all the vision references?) as the HD twins of the time. V twins had better graphics and arguably deeper games but the 2600 won out because it grabbed the mass market appeal.

Yes! The wii had a number of quality games/exclusives, however missing out on the likes of Arkam City, GTA VI, Bioshock.. ect.. ect.. puts it in the toilet IMHO. Sales be damned. OhSnapitz

I personally don't think it necessarily has the worst. Almost all games on the system are exclusive and there were some real gems in there. Little Kings Story is still one of my favorite games of this gen along with Galaxy and Galaxy 2. It had a lot of shovelware, but it also had a lot of good to great games. It may have missed a lot of Multiplats, but I don't think it is the worst or a bad library. I probably played my Wii the least this gen, but some of the games I did play, gave me a better experience than anything on the HD twins did.

The N64 Never recieving a Street Fighter/Virtua Fighter/or Tekken game is my argument.

The N64 Never recieving a proper Racing Sim game is my argument.

The N64 was an Overatted Ninty console IMHO.

And I couldn't give a damn about the FFVII bashing, it was still one of my favorite games that gen..

Hey I agree. Maybe not for the same reasons, but I do agree. I think the N64 is the single most overrated console to come from Nintendo. It wasnt bad, as a matter of fact it was great, but the praise it gets is pretty ridiculous. The only console I could say is even more overrated than the N64 would be the Dreamcast.

And I'm not bashing FFVII, it was one of my favorite games ever at the time, but when people try to use it as some trump card against the N64 I cant help but laugh. An N64 fan could just as easily post a pic of OoT to the same effect.

I know there is potential for games to be made on the PC that could not be done on consoles, yet it doesn't happen. Even Crysis, which is probably still the PCs best looking game despite being from 2008, is on consoles now. The majority of PC games are either scaled up 360/PS3 games or games that can easily be scaled down for the consoles. Very few actually take real advantage of the PC. They may look more pretty, but thats the full extent.
