[QUOTE="Blabadon"] You do realize that Nintendo got a huge number of people into gaming through the Wii? A gamer in 2012 may not be a gamer (I use the term loosely) if not for the WIi.Puckhog04

Except most of those aren't "bitting" again...

It seems it's back to the GameCube times for Nintendo.

We'll see. No doubt they're lacking in sales a bit right now, but Nintendo hasn't released any of it's big name games yet either. Either way, they're making a profit on the Console selling so they'll be here the entire generation. This is what happened to the 3DS, No games...and then when they hit, it sold like hotcakes. But, it really is a shame that the GC got a bad reputation because I had so much fun with some of the games back then (RE Zero, Eternal Darkness, Starfox, etc.). It had fantastic games.

Oh, it was a good system.

It just didn't sell that well.

Nintendo actually tried to get the "core" gamer's interest back then but it didn't work out for them, hence the Wii happened.

WiiU is trying to continue Wii's success story but it seems it's not quite working.

Of course they probably still have the chances to turn things around.

I just can't say exactly what is the success recepy.

.... he's right

You're entitled to your opinion...no matter how stupid or moronic it is.

The comparison of sales when all is said and done will be between Wii U, PS4, and the Next Xbox. Hence, all are next generation Consoles. Wii U isn't as powerful as the PS4 for sure, but it's still very powerful, roughly 2x as powerful as the Ps3/360. This is just getting old, generations aren't defined by hardware. They're defined by when a company releases a new Console.

You're entitled to your opinion...no matter how stupid or moronic it is. a console released in 2012 can't even run games better then a consoles released 7 years ago and you call very powerful, not to mention we don't know if 2x powerful cause if it was it would running current gen games at a much better rate rate and nextgen can mean what you want it to mean, if can mean same time frame or a huge leap in tech/power thats why you see on the news sometimes they use the word nextgen for tv's or laptops that have a huge leap in tech.

BS those people that bought wii for motion controls bought it as an impulse buy, they thought it would be a fun way to exercise with family and have fun, most of those people played it, enjoyed it and now are done with gaming, the only games they really enjoy are silly games like wii sports or kinect animals, i could care less for those type of games. and don't care if they cease to exist.

Blabadon

They bought the Wii to play the games on it, played the games on it, and either a) used it for something else besides gaming and/or put it away b) continued playing games like Wii Sports, which is still a damn game and/or went for some other game and system as well. The Wii was an excellent catalyst to gaming for a lot of people.[QUOTE="nameless12345"]

so whats your point?  as you can see by third party support of the wii no matter how many people bought the wii third party's didn't jump in cause they knew gamers werent buying it, people were just buying it for the motion controls and wii sports and now looking at the wiiu nobody is buying cause wii was a fad, get it.

I really don't understand what the Wii U is supposed to achieve or who it's marketed at. It can't even compete with the 360/PS3 never mind next gen consoles.

Nintendo are so far behind the curve with what a modern gaming/entertainment machine should be it's scary.

I will no doubt get one when the 1st party games roll out but other than that I can't see me using it for anything else.

HaRmLeSS_RaGe

Must be aimed at people like you then that are content with buying it for exclusives only.

I think it can compete from a technological standpoint with the ps3 and 360, but whether or not the third party developers wanna pay it any attention is another story. Now we have the ps4 and 720 on the horizon, which present another obstacle for Nintendo. I think they still can survive against the ps4 & 720 with their strong first party team, but I'm really not sure for how long.

The Wii U will not be able run true next gen console games. No that it matters since no one other the Ubisoft is really supporting it any way.

What is a "true next gen game" ?

The games that will be using 4 or 5 GB of memory and use whatever Durango is running as the weakest GPU benchmark. I'm sure the developers could get those games to run on Wii U if it was worth it, but they will be terrible ports.

So,if they don't,they're not "true next gen games"? Only defined by memory used? :|

That seems to be what this generation will be defined by with both the M$ and Sony console having 8 times the memory of the Wii U. I would like find out exactly how much more powerful they are too, but Nintendo is keepiing that on lockdown...

games like witcher 3, watch dogs, battle field 4, and deep down will run and look like crap on wiiu, and we still haven't even seen E3, game that take advantage of ps4/720 hardware, will run and look like crap on wiiu, it just not about gpu, itsa about memory bandwidth speed, size of memory, cpu, all those things add up to a generation in differnce in terms of hardware and wiiu games will suffer, thats if it even gets ports.

I don't think we see any newly developed games that only use 2 Gb of memory. Not including indie or XBLA/PSN/HD remakes.

Yeah, we've seen games massively scaled down from the PC counterparts, with possibly 1/4 the memory usage, just to run on consoles, yet they really don't take a big hit visually. Developers were willing to re-code, optimize, and do that with the big install base of the PS3/360. Doubt it will happen on the WiiU though.Seems like third party companies are avoiding it like the plague.

Yeah Wii U is next-gen. And Ps4 and Xbox 720 are next next-gen consoles.

The 8th gen will be a short one. Cant wait till 9th gen comes when Ps4 and 720 are out.Â
