The gameplay does suck and it definately not fun, and theres nothing to get good at, you just Grind and Grind, then you hook up with your friends and grind some more then you buy and sell some crap, then go back and do some more grinding. Everybody's good at that.

You can look at the games success and come to the conclusion that it is in fact a masterpiece.

It has how many subscribers in a market that has pretty much went FTP?

WoW has set the standard for what is expected of MMO's now and no other game has been able to deliver the entire package that WoW did!! Closest competitor is GW2!

I hate WoW and MMOs in general, but that doesn't hide the fact Blizzard did marvelous things with this game.

TBC brought flying, WotLK brought vehicle combat. The least Cata could do to innovate is underwater combat, and MoP maybe flying combat. I atleast appreciate the revamped 1-60 content but for the rest Cata and MoP brought hardly anything new to keep the game fresh, unlike TBC and WotLK did. WoD so far seems to bring hardly anything new either, only Garrisons and updated player models. The expansion will be boring very quick

Mhh I never could get into it. I wish I did cus I bought the battle chest with the first 2 dlc's included.

Maybe it was cus of the expensive membership.

WoW is an amazing game for what it was. It may not appeal particulary well to my style, but it was highly successful and knew exactly what it wanted to be. I dont play WoW anymore but I respect it for that alone. Especially in an age where pretty much every mmo released has serious identity issues, and bad habits of trying to include everything and everyone only to appeal to no one in the end.

Yes it is , or at least original WOW was . After ten years , the game still have 7+ million subscribers and when WOD expansion hits , it'll once again climb up to 10 million . No MMO was ever as successful as WOW . It made more money than any game out there . More than COD , more than GTA V , period .

Yes WOW is masterpiece . MMOs might not be your thing just like me and it is OK , but that doesn't change the fact that it is most successful MMO and one of the best games out there . Anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant . Some ignorant people here have already started to post things like "It is shit" , "gameplay is shit" bla bla bla in this thread , which clearly proves that they either haven't played it or didn't do their homework before taking BS .

It's popular because of two reasons: A) It's blizzard, they could sell a turd with their name on it B) It landed in a time where the MMO market was not as big and harder to be as accessible as WoW was.

I don't call it a masterpiece, I think the game is incredibly boring and stale, it just happened to have the right setting and company in the right time
