Home is not a game... it's not cool to hang out in a virtual world either. You either play a game or you don't. There shouldn't be any middle ground besides a main menu.

without cross-invites? hmmmm

:P

But The main body of PSN is rock solid now with trophies and XMB. Cross Invites will be implemented some time after, you re not denying that ms has nothing to counter Home btw...

I'm being honest, but Home to me seems like a way of deadening the fact that there are a lack of games for the PS3. I have no interest in Home, it looks like the Sims. I hate the Sims.

a distraction?

and the sims owns

.shudders.

I bought the Sims thinking it was gonna be awesome. Twenty minutes in, I was trying to find ways to kill my Sim.

Ok, lets think here a second. How much is $50 to people these days? It fills up my car with a tank of gas. Almost buys me a new game. Gives me access to my friends and online haven for gamers.

My point is, if you don't like the idea of paying for a service, then don't. If you are really that broke, then just....don't get it. Stick with the lackluster PSN. New in-game XMB and all, PSN still doesn't stack up well against XBL. Sitting on here complaining about XBL fees aren't going to stop MS. Personally, I don't run for shelter everytime I have to shell out a measly 50 bucks. I guess everyone that complains on here must be broke as hell.

MadExponent

It's not the amount of money it cost it is the principal of the whole thing. Why pay for something that's just as good everywhere else and the service is being paid for by advertisers just like it is on the PC and PS3. Even TV broadcast programs are paid for this way. When we pay for a TV service we're paying the provider for the service and not the networks.

That's the only fun thing to do with the Sims. Lock them in a room and set the house on fire, lol. Who would really want to have to monitor the life of virtual people in a normal world? I guess a lot of people, but it's pretty annoying to me.

You realize there are servers that are paid for with that $50 right? On PSN, it's left up to third party producers to hold up their end of multiplayer. Like COD4, do you think it's Sony supporting the games and connecting the P2P, or is it Activision? It's Activision. To make everything on XBL connected and intertwined, MS pays to connect Live members to other Live members. Sure, it's P2P, but broadband speeds are only getting faster. During a 2-3 hour gaming session I can count on one hand how many times I experience lag on XBL. I CANNOT say the same for PSN.

It's a perfectly valid point. I could show up at your door once a year and demand 50 dollars. Just because you can afford it and it isn't that much money doesn't mean you should give it to me. And that's how i feel with xbox live. Sure i can afford it, no problem, but i hand over my money every year, completely oblivious as to what it is i'm even paying for.

It's as simple as; if you can afford a $350+ console, you should be able to easily afford $50 a year.

Yes. Excellent service, excellent options for multiplayer. My friends have it. There's many reasons I pay that fee every year and will continue to do so. It is good to see that PSN is getting some of the features that have been holding it back now. I don't have a PS3, but this is good for those who do. While I still don't think PSN will make it to the level that Xbox Live is, I think it will be a good learning experience for Sony who will be able to utilize what they've learned this gen for next gen.

...and?? Who pays for free stuff?

Try again.

people that don't own a PS3 and want to play 360 games online

seriously dude 4$ a month, how is that a big deal to anybody? i smoke that much a day

Until you can actually pay for one month that marketing stuff is bs. It's not 4$ a month because you can't buy a month.

I don't get it.

Ingame XMB is not a PSN feature. In game dashboard is not an xbox live feature.

Why does an update to the actual console software have to do with their online services

Maybe it's a ripoff but in the scheme of things it's a pretty small ripoff. When I look at the rest of the money I blow on everything from dogfood to the mortgage XBL is a drop in a very large bucket.

At this point I am still happy to pay...

I was really really looking forward to private chat...I am not going to private text my friends in a COD game...

I can't see how that would work..telling my friend not to go around that corner..

Damn to late..

Ha everyone knows if PSN had a fee people would pay for it so cows need to stop this whole "well you guys pay $50" crap cause when sony starts to charge for PSN their gonna fell really stupid.

And as far as the new update they still dont even have cross game inv and chat so PSN isnt even equal to xbl yet.I mean PSN SOME of what xbl had 2 years ago and cows are running around talking about PSN is better lol.

It takes 10 to 15 mins just to get on MGS4 online that would not happen on LIVE. Does PSN have cross-game invites? Didn't think so. Not to mention the fact that almost everyone on LIVE has a mic which helps to cooperate in team-based games. I have a few games for the PS3 and no one ever talks. I like the PS3, but the online is still trash compared to LIVE.

Why would you continue to pay for XBL? Only viable reason I can think of is to game with already familiar friends.

It took Sony time, 2 years but then again Microsoft has been working on XBL since the first Xbox. What could you be possible paying for after July 2nd that is totally worth it?

GoonVSGoblin

it took them 1.5 years, but yeah its not worth paying for ever

its worth money, but not 50 bucks, 20 or 30 would be about right, i really think that m$ should just cough up another billion so that xbox live can be free, they did it with the rrod (it still does exist xbox fans) so why not do it with something else that a big part of the user base for xbox live doesnt like

Honestly, I never thought XBL was worth $50, but you need it to play online so you pretty much don't have a choice if you want to play w/ your friends. That's the reason I have XBL.

Sony hasn't given my friends a PS3 to play on yet, so $50 is still worth it. If all my friends had a PS3 I would not pay for LIVE.

Honestly, both have their ups and downs.

The only positive thing for the PSN though is the fact thats its free.

There are more features for the XBL, but since most of my friends are too cheap to pay for the service, I don't have many people to talk to. =/ So, some of those features become useless to me.

Plus, the hugely negative thing about XBL is the fact that there are always idiots cussing people out. It degrades the value of XBL by a lot, in my opinion. If I'm going to pay for a service, I want to be treated with respect. If you go to a restaurant, and you paid for your food, would you like it to be thrown at you and it become not edible? It totally defeats the "coolness" of the Xbox360.

Not saying that the PSN is much better, but I know more people there and its easier to socialize and get an actual conversation going instead of just a bunch of people making strange noises and yelling strange things at me because they have the freedom of cussing at me.

But, thats just my opinion.

Trying to get a game goin on psn is aggrevating experience.First off it takes for ever just to get into a game on mgs4.Once your in a game its hard getting my friends in that i wanna play with. When were finally in a room we can barley chat with each other.People can barley hear me and i cant hardly hear anyone either.Xbox live is great because its loaded with features and its easy to use were with the ps3 u have to jump through so many hurdles just to almost get what u want out of the service.Id gladly pay 50 a year for psn if it worked like xboxlive. We triend playing mgs4 for a couple of hours the other night just to end up getting so aggrevated that we went back and played some cod4 on the 360.I wanna play games online on the ps3 but at this point it just annoys me to much.It may be free but its just not user friendly and u spend more time getting annoyed than actually playing the games.

Its not like MS is forcing anyone to pay the money. If you dont want to pay then dont. Its as simple as that.
