I would think so thanks to the new $150 nVidia GPU that can max out Titanfall.

It's virtually the same tech as the PS4. Is the PS4 outdated?

The PS4 at least makes use of the latest and greatest RAM outside of the GPU. PCs aren't even using DDR5 as system RAM.

I didn't say the PS4 is identical. I said they are virtually the same, which they are.

Everything is obsolete compared to PC as the PC will always get better. But the One and PS4 will continue to be optimized and dev tools ill continue to mature. Look at PS2 launch games and then what was there 5 years later. Look at PS3/360 launch games and then Halo 4 or The Last of Us. PS4/One will be the same way.

The PS3/Xbox 360 were both way more advanced for their time than the PS4/Xbone, though. Sure, later gen games will look better, but I wouldn't expect a huge difference in quality.

Just don't get why so many people keep making out like X1 is crap and PS4 is gold. X1 is crap but PS4 is far from being a powerful console in its own right. It's just more powerful than X1, not much of an accomplishment. In the grand scheme of things they are both weak consoles considering they launched in late 2013.

I don't think anyone expected them to be on par with high-end gaming PCs since those cost an arm and a leg but they should have been 2.5 tflops. I would have been very happy with that. But 1.8 tflops is disappointing and 1.3 tflops is a joke.

@bforrester420: GDDR5 is not the latest and greatest though and has been on pc for years now. It's also on the way out and will be old tech in a year or two.

Yeah, but what he meant is that it isn't being used for system RAM on PC, just for graphics.

Not to me, because of the exclusives you can't play on PC.

Well, no. 750ti is actually a 1.3tflops card, basically outputting similar performance as Xbox One but still is weaker than PS4 (1.8tflops).

Oh, that ain't true. The GPU in 360 was right up there with high-end PC graphics cards when it launched. These new machines weren't close to what high-end gaming PCs of the time were doing but that hasn't always been the case.

You people put too much faith in simple math. The XBox was 2x-4x times more powerful than the PS2, that didn't make the PS2 a POS or a bad console. The PS4 is, when you add it all up, about 30%-40% more powerful than the XB1.

Didn't say there was. I was disputing the "new tech" line but i was obviously mistaken since you said latest and greatest and not new.

I thought even at launch a console's tech is always obsolete. Maybe when they start planning it 2-3 years earlier the tech looks good, but at launch the PC snobs are always quick to point out their platforms superiority.

This will never change.

If 50% more GPU power, is that your definition of "virtually the same"?

Lems are delusional as always.

The PS4 at least makes use of the latest and greatest RAM outside of the GPU. PCs aren't even using DDR5 as system RAM.

I didn't say the PS4 is identical. I said they are virtually the same, which they are.

If 50% more GPU power, is that your definition of "virtually the same"?

Lems are delusional as always.

...sigh...

You know nothing of computer hardware performance. Moore's law says that the number of integrated circuits doubles every two years. By you "50% means so much" principle, that would mean that a high-end, two year old PC is now a piece of crap, because that new high end PC is twice as fast, and 100% extra processing power means 100% extra performance.

Oops... that's not reality. New PCs are a bit faster, but not dramatically faster. That's because to really see a performance difference, you have to increase the PCs power by more than a factor of 2, it's really 3 or 4.
