Is Xenoblade Chronicles overrated?

It's a decent enough JRPG that managed to find its way onto consoles and not handhelds last gen. That feat alone has garnered quite a bit of praise. Personally don't think it'd stand out to be all that special back amongst the SNES/PS1/PS2 rpgs

You bet you sweet bum its overrated.The combat and the world itself was interesting everything els was meh imo escially the characters.

Kinda. It's a great game in its own right that has a few plot stumbles and pacing issues towards the latter half of the game. I just feel that alot of the overwhelming praise comes from the fact that there was a drought in console JRPGs around that time that had the press writing about this being the second coming of Jesus.

I think Xenoblade bitchslaps Xenosaga. I mean, yeah Xenosaga's story is more substantial but it's just so much worse than Xenoblade in terms of being a game. There's something a bit flat about Xenosaga's actual game component whereas Xenoblade has a breathtaking sense of adventure.

I'd say it's better at being a game than Xenogears as well (for one, there's no shitty platforming); the problem is that it doesn't have shit on Xenogears' story.

Last Remnant is better IMO (the PC version).

Don't know. Haven't played it yet to find out. Have played The Last Story either, but since Mistwalker did that game, I'm expecting it to be decent at least.

There's no way to know for sure unless you play it yourself.. How about asking this first, look at some gameplay videos and ask yourself does it seem like something you wanna play and could potentially enjoy? Because if you're just going to ask if something is worth the hype before you attempt to play something you might be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Massively. It´s also pretty much the single player "rpg" for closet MMO fans,they just don´t want to admit it.

well every great game is overrated. its not for everyone. although thats pretty general since every game won't appeal to everyone

Yes and no, I think I left off about 30 hours into it and just stopped playing it. There are some great parts about it, but it does feel kinda boring. I also hate how I have been having to grind a lot just to keep up with the enemies and the side quests are really boring. I'm going to be completely honest, I had way more fun with Lightning returns that I did with xenoblade. So yes I would say it's overrated in my opinion, still a decent game, just I found it a bit boring as well. I like the overall story, but the world is so huge if feels disconnected, if feels like I have to chug through hours of enemies just to get the story to move.
