[QUOTE="DaViD_99"]A little off topic, but did you play Majoras yet? foxhound_fox

Nope. I've got quite a bit on my plate now, and I'm starting work next week. Plus the N64 is packed away right now.

No I haven't ether. I'm currently trying to get a hold of a friend who has it though. It seems a lot of people like bringing up Majoras mask in this topic. Was its story so different from the other games stories?

The story has become common knowledge to most gamers, even those who haven't played them.

I'm no sure if they "intend" for it to be good, but merely fill the gap where a good story should be. The Zelda world is rife with material that cries out for a complex and deep story... but it shamefully is hardly ever given one (except for possibly Majora's Mask).

Majora's mask is the deepest of all the zelda games, but it then leaves so many questions unanswered that you will be right back to square one.

if you are into timeline and all that.. zeldas story is really complicated as it is a story told through many games.. if you just look at each individual game it is pretty standard stuff

[QUOTE="DaViD_99"][QUOTE="skrat_01"]Twilight Princess a masterpiece from a design standpoint? Oh wow. Lol, just lol. No, no TC it isn't.

As far as the design for dungeons/bosses, I thought it is by far the best in a Zelda game. But it does it feels like something was missing, and that is mainly why i enjoyed Wind Waker/ Majoras Mask a lot more.

yeah people forget that majoras mask and wind waker have like 4 (very boring) dungeons while TP has like 10 of em.. (and the individual dungeons are way more interesting)

I'd rather have fewer but more challenging and difficult dungeons (Maybe not WW but MM for sure) than a lot of underwhelming and easy as pie dungeons. Stone Temple in MM was PURE hell, almost as bad as Water Temple in OoT.

you can say that again. I hated the Stone Temple. I had to bust out my Guide book it was horrible.

but other than that most of the dungeons in Majora's Mask were easy!! (the Goron Ice Temple place as hard too but the Stone Temple was the hardest.)

Besides, Twilight Princess had the best Dungeons.

You may find one story or another to be somewhat weak but to be honest there's no questionning the fact that Zelda has got to have the most interesting universe in all of video games history (or at least one of the best). Every stories connect to each others to form a timeline which gets so many people to debate about. I haven't seen many game series having that effect on gamers.

I thought WindWaker had a pretty decent story by Zelda standards, especially when you visit places underwater. Haven't played Majora's Mask yet, but its next on my list

Zelda games were never really about the plot.

The stories are pretty simple, but the Zelda games do have good story-telling(as in how the story is told). It does help you feel apart of the legend and makes your quest all the more epic imo.

Really? I loved Stone Temple, and the fact that it remains an intimidating task no matter how many times I play through MM is a testament of its difficult greatness. Just like the Water Temple, but without the tedium. I also hate underwater levels, in any game.

[QUOTE="jethrovegas"]

Zelda games are often chock full of moments of subtle poetry, and sublime beauty that no other series in gaming has ever managed to top, or even to come close to topping. Even some of the least introspective and spiritual Zelda games (OoT, for instance) are very satisfying on a artistic level, and when you take the cream of the crop (Majora's Mask, easily) and compare it with, well, any video game ever made, you'll start to see what I'm talking about.

samusarmada

Case in point:

Agreed.

And I'd also like to add OoT's ending, where Link places the Master Sword back into it's pedestal and walks away as the bells chime. I felt it was an awesome and powerful way of saying that "your long journey is now over."

The story in Zelda games normally aren't all that great, although not bad by any means and their gold compared to the stories of other Nintendo games. But yeah in short all Nintendo games aren't big on story and Zelda is no exception, its the game we love, not the average story.

Replayed Majora's Mask now, and I just beat the Stone Temple yesterday. I was dreading it, well from past memories of the temple. But when I got there, I actually did not have to use a guide! It was difficult though, but not as bad as I thought it was.
