Isn't it a little heartbreaking to remember the launch expectations The Ps3 had

I just ran into this article while looking info about the new Killzone maps, and it made me remember everything I expected from the Ps3, MGS4, FFXIII, Devil May Cry, A new Ace Combat, Star Ocean 4, Armored Core, Monster Hunter, Gran Turismo 5, that new game they were showing, Resistance? Also looks kinda cool, all of them exclusive and top notch games with cutting edge graphics that put all other consoles to shame, a fast selling monster console that will leave the wii and the 360 in the dust in a couple of years Lol, Online Mp for the first time on a console (I Had never played online with a console before except the Ds but that one is a handheld)

I dont know what other Launch or very early Ps3 adopters where expecting but back in 2006 I wasn't expecting to see Fall 2009 with most of those games listed above gone multiplatform as they were supposed to be only possible on the Ps3, lost entirely meaning they are now Exclusive for other consoles or whats worse than all other miseries to be waiting for release dates like Gran Turismo and FFXIII. One of the most promising games on the system back then was Lair and its very funny to think about it, Back then I expected that game to be the Ps3 version of Gladiator in terms of Epic feeling but featuring Dragons instead of Russel Crowe.

Isn't it a little sad that the Ps3 fell so short to deliver what it was blindly hyped for? Its all too strange but in a way im still very happy about my purchase, not in the way I was expecting and I certainly didnt get what I thought I was buying but maybe the only place I could get a close feeling to what I wanted from this gen is on the Ps3?

Just dusted off the Box my 60 GIG Ps3 came on and took out the Gamestop Ps3 launch guide to laugh a little, the last time I held that little magazine everything was so different that it is now.

Anybody feels the same?

u serious..... this happens with everything your so excited to buy.. then you buy, then you get it then there's nothing to be excited about. Its not the ps3 fault....yeah it had a rocky start, but meh..stop living in the past

And you're STILL telling people to look ahead?

So in 2006 you were saying "in 4 years this library is going to have something worth playing, the first three will be bad but in 2010 it'll turn heads"?

Launch expectations were mighty high but got off to a rocky start. The PS3 is really looking good now and only in year 3. I think it's going to continue it's momentum for the rest of this generation and should not be judged until the very end imo.

PS2 did the same thing. Only difference was that there was no competition at that point. Sega was out of money and Microsoft and Nintendo were two years away so people waited while programmers finally figured out how to program the PS2

Both 360 and PS3 launch were bad, though I prefer 360 because of Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo.:P

actually I got alot more than I expected it was well worth it in my mind, I use about every feature

Meh, its not really heartbreaking to remember unless you were under the assumption that no one could beat Sony. With that the arogance would follow and the disappointment afterwards. Generally speaking though, its an alright console. I still find it really odd though that there is no exclusive on the console that is calling me to be played. They all scream "eh whatever" for me. Just a taste thing I guess.

i think the ps3 has great potential but it requires sony to pay developers more, quit expecting so much and for people to quit defending what's wrong. as long as excuses keep getting made and accepted then sony has no reason to improve anything or hurry with top games.

i'm still waiting for the first game to run dual 1080p monitors at 120 fps with real time weapon changes and the 4D element thrown in to sweeten the deal. :( Wow....talk about some massive lies. :|Nedemis

All of those are avaliable in the setup menu. My PS3 does all of those.

I'm not disappointed because I didn't drink the Kool-Aid that Sony was serving prior to the PS3's launch.

It's always wise to take promises of that nature with a grain of salt, and that goes for every hardware manufacturer and developer out there.
