anyone notice steam is a little slow right now in loading pages?

must be because of all the downloading taking place

Decrate

It's going to crash. I think I'll get the Oddboxx Collection. That's really hard to resist and I have a 500GB drive.

Ok, what the crap is this. I'm trying to make a Steam account (Never used it before :P) and I cant make an account. Every single name I've tried is taken. I even tried random letters and that is taken. I've tried their suggestions and those are taken. What's going on :/

Oddworld collection is $4. :D

The pages are crashing a lot but I'm still making my list. Who needs groceries?

tagyhag

huh? Thought that was $13

That's the Oddbox. :P But that seems like a better deal. :D

Remember folks! Only buy the daily deals, and don't buy anything else until the last day of the sales.

Oh ok.

Oddworld Munch & Strager...here I come!
Also getting Deus Ex Collection.
They messed up with the Indie Packs, they're downright horrible. Half of the packs aren't even available to us in Europe and the other half consist of 1 or 2 good games and 3 really mediocre ones.

[QUOTE="ferret-gamer"][QUOTE="blackace"] I believe they tried teaching the metrics system to Americans, but everyone hated it, so they stopped. Our measuresments are absolute. A meter is a little more then a yard (3.2808399 feet), but a yard is 3 feet exactly. 1 Mile is exactly 5280 ft. 1 kilometer, while 1 kilometer = 3 280.8399 feet. This is why no one wanted to learn that crap. haberman13

we should drop the crappy empirical system altogether and go to metric, who cares if it might create a bit of culture shock for few years, the metric system is superior in every way.

No it isn't. It's a mess. Trying to convert it to normal measurements is a nightmare. (1 foot = 30.48 centimeters), (Kilometer = 0.61 miles) lol!! I'll stick with inches, feet and yards. Lot easier to remember. Thank god I finished High School just before they started trying to teach that crap to kids.

What is easier to remember? If we switched to metric your new standard would be "1:1", you would stop doing conversions in your head after a few months and suddenly you would say "I was driving at 140kph" without even thinking about it.

The world has adopted a standard, we are only hurting ourselves by sticking with the Imperial units.

America didn't adobt squat. Why learn something we'll never use. We don't see other countries trying to learn the American measurements. More foreigners come to America then any place else it seems. I'll never waste my time learning the stupid metrics, as I'll never need it.

No.... I've never had a sig. Never cared much for them, personally. *shrug*Unnatural101

You had USA = #1 in your sig area. Unless it was an intentional part of your post. Regardless, the incredibly asinine statement *was* there.

Absolutely. As an American I want to adopt the metric system.

"but everyone hated it, so they stopped" They didn't "try" teaching it, as if we COULDN'T learn basic math, we had decades of construction under the imperial system. You don't just flip a switch and change. Please tell me that wasn't a sleight against Americans, because honestly, I'm probably a lot smarter than you are and have a more advanced degree... and consider myself average amongst my peers.

It wasn't a sleight against Americans, i am one. Presenting a change like that will provide a shock to many people, and probably take a few years to reorient as a whole to metric There are other options than just force switching however.. We already have metric measurement on nearly all of the items that you buy and such next to the empirical measurements. If we started having our schools primarily teach metric over empirical then that in itself would be a great help in familiarizing our overall society towards metric, and the change may be made by itself through that change in education or can be helped along by various changes. For example imports and exports could be moved to dealing with primarily metric systems, which would also be a small relief to the business itself sine they have to exercise money to convert metric to empirical and vise versa. And you really don't need to flaunt your "degree" and such, because I'm in high school, I sure hope you have a more advanced degree than I :P

Do you not ever measure something? Are you not ever planning to weigh yourself, or read a temperature, or measure the height of a Christmas tree for your house? I doubt it. I am completely sure that you will need to measure something in some form.

Would you like to know why other counties dont try to learn empirical/imperial measurements? Because they are inferior to "stupid metrics", as you call them. If you bothered to put aside your apparently extreme biasand you know, bothered to learn the metric system, you would find that it makes a heck of alot more sense, and is a lot easier to use then empirical.

I am an American teenage, however I have been taught in both metric and empirical. There is absolutely no contest in which is the better measurement system.

Oh ok.

What happens if you wait? (This is my first steam holiday sale)

shutdown_202

Basically:

The ones that aren't in the daily deal (Just the first page) are going to be on sale until January 2nd.

We are getting new daily deals every day until January 2nd.

So for example: If a game was $20, maybe in one of those daily deals left, it will become a daily deal for $5, and you'll want to kick yourself for buying it for $20. :P

Sooooooooo, if you wait until the absolute last day to buy the games that are NOT daily deals, you'll have all those opportunities to make sure they don't become daily deals AFTER you bought them for a higher price.

That's why it's best to just buy daily deals games until Jan 2nd. Then on Jan 2nd buy the games that were never daily deals that you wanted. I guarantee you, you will have a smaller list, since some of the games you originally wanted will have been part of a daily deal.

Some good sales here. But I buy from a site where you can get some of the games for cheaper - such as Fallout 3 for $14.

TQ can last you ... forever. It's like Diablo 2, but better, IMO.
