It sure seems like Xbox One demand is higher than PS4 demand in North America.

As someone who does a ton of analysis, it is starting to seem like Sony is running away with it in NA. There are a few factors to consider, but it seems like Sony may have a strong year 1 lead.

Right now, I have a roadmap for the next 18 months and how this stuff might work out. MS probably won't become a major player in the space until their 1st hardware revision, where they will have a new APU die for manufacturing. That'll come with a $100 dollar price cut, new form factor, and a new marketting push. That'll be MS's chance. The faster their R&D can get that hardware revision and manufacturing price drop done, the faster they'll be in the running with Sony.

[QUOTE="Mr-Kutaragi"][QUOTE="darkspineslayer"][QUOTE="ShaineTheNerd"] When you hold a grudge against a business, you are the only one who loses. Don Mattrick was taken out of context with the "it's called an Xbox 360," comment, don't take it to heart.

What exactly was out of context? He said that If you didn't have a good enough network connection, you weren't invited to the next gen party at Microsoft's house. What would have been the proper way to interpret that?

What was Adam Orth guy quote again? "why would anyone want to live there"??? Guess he means japan also, since is "tier 2" country. Even though oure internet systems are much more develop.

You're a tier 2 because Xbox is virtually non-existant in your country.

He said if you are unable to play Xbox One due the inability to connect to an Internet connection, you should buy an Xbox 360. That's it. "You weren't invited to the next gen party at Microsoft's house." ... Dear god.

Embellishment. My interpretation still stands. If you didn't meet their requirements, they expected you to buy an aging console with already dwindling support? Not bloody likely, not while the competition offered differently.

You are certainly right to have your own opinion as am I. We interpret things differently. I hope you enjoy your PS4.

That will be the downfall of Xflop 1. If Sony builds a huge lead worldwide even moneyhatting won't get them timed exclusives or anything else to keep them relevant. Xbox brand is not strong enough to climb back up like Sony did with the PS3. We shall see if I am right because they are definitely going to start off in a hole.

A poll with over 350K votes is relevant regardless of where it came from. They use much less than that for Presidential election projections.

It isn't "The Xbox brand isn't strong enough", because the Xbox brand is certainly strong to the audience that it primarily caters to (core, hardcore). The bigger problem is Microsoft's brand isn't 'popular'. They do exceedingly well due to their dominance in the corporate OS services sector, but all other fields are poor to embarrassing. Much of that is due to Steve Balmer, who's corporate direction for MS has always been a "me too" as well as "execution at any cost". MS needs new blood in their corporate chair in order to reinvigorate their brand on a social level. Right now, they are being leap frogged by Google & Apple. Keep in mind, Sony OS' are linux based, as is most Google/Droid OS systems. MS needs to fight to make Windows a 'cool' thing to own and operate outside of the corporate world, and creating subscription models for MS word when your main competitor gives it out for free ain't gonna cut it. Also, I wish people would stop perpetuating the idea that just because MS has a lot of money, they'd be willing to pay anyone however much they wanted for an exclusive window on their software. Understand that MS has a board of investors that their higher ups need to answer to. Signing 250 Million Dollar or more checks to lock up exclusives with no guarantee on R.o.I (Return on Investment) is an easy way to have your board oust you from your executive duties. I see Balmer either retiring or him retiring the Xbox division before he signed that many games/deals that have no guarantee of selling.

The X factor for MS is their media capabilities. I'm not very optimistic about the demand the non-gamer will have for a smart TV box priced at $500 and the investment into Kinect for gaming purposes only stirs up the lolz. The media features aren't bad, but are they going to be worth the extra dough? Generally, the X1 isn't a bad console (it's 90%-95% a PS4 design-wise). But their gamble on Kinect seems like a certain setback. I still think their primary audience and 360 users still recognize strongly with the brand and will pony up the extra $100 to get the console they have a greater affinity toward (just like PS users did when their console was $100-$200 more expensive than the 360). Plus abandoning achievements and fragmenting your friends network are tough hurdles to overcome. MS' greatest concerns shouldn't be their sticker price but their actual price - to actually enjoy many of the consoles design features, you have to have XBL and those little costs begin to add up for the customer analyzing the options (especially when PS+ is giving away free titles each month). Toss on top of that rechargeable battery packs (while PS4s are packed-in) and the tally increases and the differential begins inflating. MS will have to tread warily in that regard because the feeling of being nickel & dimed for things when the competition doesn't do that can erase a good amount of goodwill. The second greatest concern is how MS' exclusive games stack up pound for pound with Sony's. Not sure where Gears stands, but if Judgment is any indicator, the franchise is certainly fatigued and may never perform well again, plus they're going to have to strike a pretty hefty deal with Epic to keep them producing exclusively. Halo is threatened by the same fate but I'm more optimistic there - Halo 4 performed incredibly well and the next iteration on a next-gen console always brings a fair amount of attention (notwithstanding how poor Halo 4's MP turned out to be). The games I'm concerned about for MS are titles like Ryse, Project Spark, Quantum Break, and their Black Tusk Studios' projects. If those games don't deliver, MS will be even more dependent on multiplatform titles and timed-exclusive DLC and I can't imagine championing that as your competitive advantage is going to convince prospective customers away from PS4. I'm more inclined to believe consumers care more about getting access to the broadest library of AAA games possible rather than priority rights to pay for content.

Haven't seen anything to support TC's assertion so far, and as he provided nothing either, I'll assume he's just pulling this out his arse. Honestly, I expected more to head back towards the XB1 after the policy flip flop. Perhaps price is still a turn off. Maybe it's just gonna take more time to put the avalanche of bad press it received to rest.

It is quite simple really. PlayStation is the more popular, established brand. PS4 is more powerful than Xbox One. PS4 is $100 cheaper than Xbox One. You can throw last generation out the window if you think that will have a significant impact on how things will shake out.

More than 3 to 1 in favor of PS4. I can see why you would want to disregard those numbers.

I assume by the end of next gen, Xbox One will be a bigger seller in North America. Xbox One offers a lot more features than PS4.

Well as we have no idea of sales figures and the PS4 seems to be ahead from the rumours and amazon listings I'd say no, but your OP has nothing to do with the title of your thread.
