Outside the character models...not really.

[QUOTE="Slambo86"]lets nit pick, shall we? Character model-wise....SURE, but thats because the enviromental textures are horrible, when viewed up close...NO bump mapping, I'm talking RE4 like textures. You won't see textures like Gears/K2/uncharted. When you say best looking you should consider everything, and those games are K2, Uncharted, Gears 2. bioshock...etc. Slambo86
And KZ's aren't? seriously RE5 is very good at pretty much everything including environmental textures.
Most of the time K2 shows high detailed bump mapped textures, along with the natural low rez ones here and there..but RE5 has NONE of those detailed one, just flat blurry ones. Capcom as usual put most of the effort on the characters. Reason being they look so good.Thats not true. The textures in KZ2 lack alot of detail in alot of areas. the blur in the game trys to cover this up alot.
 you haven't played KZ2 have you cuz if you did you would know that most textures except the ground are flat and ugly,[QUOTE="Slambo86"]lets nit pick, shall we? KZ2's amazing graphics comes from other elements, not textures
and I don't know what version you played but RE5 does have bump mapping, and good textures
LMFAO, you my friend haven't played K2. The building, walls and overall ground textures most of the time are highly detailed bump mapped textures, mainly cover and destructable parts are low rez. RE5 doesn't have detailed textures on the level of gears, K2 or uncharted...LEARN THE DIFFERENCE. pop in the game and get a closer look. Its a blurry low detailed mess. they just look okay from a distance. Most of the time K2 shows high detailed bump mapped textures, along with the natural low rez ones here and there..but RE5 has NONE of those detailed one, just flat blurry ones. LOL, you just copying what haters are saying....priceless. Its called MOTION BLURR. how do they cover up textures....stay still and look around...where is this BLURR?? haters are in serious denial. K2 is the graphics console king right now.....let it go.Yeah, well, my character does take up 50 percent of the screen, anyway. :P Also, I thought the environments were nice and detailed. Certain ones. There were two areas in particular that blew me away. This one level with a bunch of boats, and another one where you are top of a giant cliff. I know the latter is chapter 2-2. I'm only on chapter 5-1, so I'm hoping there's something else to blow me away! :D Chapter 4-3 didn't look too good for the environments, but it definitely was exceptional. The shadows are also pretty good.I loved RE5, but it wasn't the best looking game, and still isn't. It's strengths were in character models, which is essentially what your entire post is based on. Outside of that, it wasn't exceptional.

But sense in a game like KZ2 were your are moving constaintly the blur covers these textures up. And yes I know what Motion Blur is, You don't need to type it in caps:roll: But really does all this console graphics debate really matter in the end? Is it really that impressive for a game to look the best on the console when their are better looking games out their say STALKER or Crysis? Its not like anyone would notice unless you told them about it:roll: And in the end no one is really gonna care:|yep you played the ps3 version has missing textures unlike the 360 version

looks pretty sharp in these screens to me (but these are screen grabs from the new map pack trailer i think, are they in game?)

Oh wow where did you get those screenshots for the PS3? Is that even with HDMI?
I'm sitting here right now with RE5 turned on at the same location (chapter 1-1 just before the ledge where you drop off), and I can tell several glaring differences: the buttons on the sheath of the knife is non-existent in the shot, yet I can see it on my TV, the textures of Chris' short sleeve more resembles the left side (I can see each of the little bumps), and the hair is not a blurred mess like the right side.
Are you sure those are not screenshots from demo or something?

On reading your post, I actually booted up the game, and went to that exact spot, and you're actually right. Why are you posting bullshots? There is no need since OP stated on consoles :P But I believe it is pretty much a consensus that KZ2 is the console graphics king right now, atleast until Uncharted 2 comes out I guess.in be4 hermits cry "crysis!"
anyways, RE5 is 2nd place in graphics. killzone 2 is better. i thought that this was resolved a long time ago.

Im guessing you never played RE4.....i got bored playing RE5 on chapter 5 onwards.. c'mon a zombie with a gatling gun??

I was gonna say the same thing. RE5 DOES NOT look like that on my PS3. It looks like they're taking a low res shot for the ps3 and a high res 1 for the 360. If you believe that comparison is accurate, well, there's just no helping you. games running side by side, at the same resolution, in the same spot, and on the same tv would have very little differences. most people wouldn't even be able to tell with the screens side by side.
Stop posting bullshots.
As for being on topic. KZ 2 looks better imo for 1 reason. I like the coloring better. in RE5 everything is this sunny yellow mess. while in KZ2 everything is a blue darker mess. The blue is better on the eyes, imo.

Resident Evil 5 is definately looker, but I think it's edged out of 1st by KZ2.... KZ2, though I've never played the game myself seems more ambitious in its effects, lighting, etc.
I think Lost Planet 2 might take the #1 place for visuals on consoles when it releases..... but who knows, there might be another contender I don't know about..... Alan Wake, maybe... or something else we don't even know about yet.

Not sure what you're getting at, but compare your screenshot against the PS3 one the other guy posted and you can see a world of difference. Not claiming which one's the superior version, but a lot of people who say the 360 has the better version usually post bullshots to back it up, thereby losing all credibility.
TC, you have only experienced RE5's best visual parts, and K2's worst (if you only played the demo of Killzone 2, you havne't seen what the game can put out).
The last few chapters on RE5 are just bad. The environments are just lazy and are not inspiring at all, while chapter 3 + on Kllzone are some of the best visuals you will see on a console game thus far. Plus, there is a hell of a lot more action happening in Killzone than RE5, so I'd have to say Killzone win visually and technically.

its called MOTION BLUR. you know the stuff that happens in real life when you move real fast....YEEESH! WOW, systemwars has hit a new low. Yup, the guy is being an idiot. He posted the three worst pics he could find to try and claim ownage... lol... everything about KZ2 destroys RE5. The only people that claim otherwise are desperate 360 fanboys, pissed off at the fact that all the console graphic kings are on the PS3. Hell, every major game publication STATED that KZ2 looked better than anything they had seen before on consoles... and now that is being pushed further with Uncharted 2... You know, KZ2 is not just considered to be the best graphics on SW... its a universal thing... so im sorry, you can enjoy RE5... and you can WISH it was the best the consoles can offer visually, but ALL the evidence shows you are wrong... even the poll on this very thread has a huge majority of people saying KZ2 looks better. lol...I don't really find RE5 or KZ2 to be that impressive looking. Textures in KZ2 aren't great and Environments in RE5 feel very static. I'm just spoiled by the PC though.AAllxxjjnnyeah, if you have a great PC KZ2 looks nice but is not a jaw dropper... but for the consoles, it is easily leading the pack. That said, i think if you could play KZ at true 1080 res on a nice PC monitor, it would look very lovely.

^^ For which game? If you are referring to Killzone 2, I felt there was a great mix of indoor and outdoor level design. The first couple levels seemed a little hazy for me ,but the rest of the game stood out.
*Possible spoiler warning*
If you are referring to RE5's last few chapters, than yes, I didn't care for them at all. I will say I was impressed with the Ruins in RE5, but other than that, I didn't like the whole factory levels. Most of the design for the levels were random pieces of cover to turn the game into a (poorly executed) Gears of War type game. Not to mention the level on Wesker's ship...didn't care for it, but it could just be me.

Yeah the indoor levels were a little bit claustrophobic, and the duck behind cover deal combined with the tank-like movement system of RE (which I like) makes for some awkward moments. Not to mention one of the "harder" boss is in that area.
RE5 = better screenshots
KZ2 = best graphics while actually playing.
A plethora of PC games make this argument rather moot.
