Itagaki-san : No more ninja gaiden....this is my final swan song

In an interview with kotaku Team ninja's "cough" Tomonobu Itagaki said that Ninja gaiden II on the 360 will be his last Ninja Gaiden as it has reached the point he wanted ninja gaiden to reach.. :

"Personally I think we were able to create the definitive 3D game in this series so I'm not planing on making any other games in the series," Itagaki said through a translator. "So I hope fans treat this as a swan song for the franchise.

"I think we were able to achieve everything we wanted with this game so anything else would be extraneous."

Furthermore he was asked if he will make a Ninja Gaiden swan song for the PS3 he said " NO..That is ridiculous...BUT instead i want to make something new -something totally unrelated to my extending franchises"

He went on to say he wanted to do something with the pacific war and Clint eastwood..intresting.....

He certainly wasn't full of himself here, he's voluntarily finishing his most critically acclaimed franchise. And Itagaki and Team Ninja are the only one's worthy to make NG games imo

That's the kind of developer he is. He starts a series with a certain set of goals in mind, and continues until he achieves them. He also was able to achieve all he wanted with the Dead or Alive franchise when he made Dead or Alive 4, and planned on that being the conclusion to the series.

I'm curious to see what his new projects are.

God of War milking? Please tell me you are joking or just mispoke. It was planned as a trilogy from the get go. I think all of the GoW fans would be pretty pissed if they did not get the third installment on the PS3. I know I sure as hell would be.

Let's see, will you consider Mass Effect as being a milked franchise after the second one releases? How about Gears of War 2? I thought not, therefore, I rest my case.

Ya, I like Ninja Gaiden 2 not just for its brutality, but also the visible organs you can see after slicing ninjas and demons open.

Because I'm sure many other devs would continue to dish out sequels of their best franchise. He hasn't attached his success and future success to one franchise and is willing to delve into unfamiliar territory. I know he's not the only dev that has done this, but still...

NG itself doesn't lend itself to evolving chest physics like their other titles, this is why NG has run it's course. :P-RPGamer-
