Stop with that nonsense :P. If you said MGS1 is better I could accept that (though I disagree). The other two are not ;). MGS4 > MGS1 > MGS3 > MGS2.
I know this is arguably the most overdone thread besides graphics, ___ is dying, etc. But with all these new and old users, I feel like we should hear everyone's favorite game of all time again. Also, if you can, POST A PICTURE OF THE GAME! :D Unfortunately I can't. :P The greatest game of all time: Shadow of the Colossus! :twisted:Blabadon
Flight Simulator X
Too many to pick from:
Sonic Adventure DX
Guardian Heroes
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Monkey Ball 2
Mario Kart Wii
Pikmin 2
Diablo II: Lord of Destruction
Star Ocean Second Evolution
Castlevainia Symphony of the Night
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
Planetside
Ragnarok Online
SSX Tricky
Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
etc.
I just can't do it...

Badosh I always knew you had your head screwed on right and made sense.
Definitely the best game in the whole series and one of the best games period. It's not even close

Horrible main villain and main villain fight (though the very ending made up for it) and some annoying food aspects hindered an otherwise second best (I think) MGS. MGS1 is better and MGS4 is best.

MGS4 is a horrible example of an MGS game. It took away all the freedom and exploration along with quirks and easter eggs in favour of a much more streamlined game that aimed to wrap everything up rather than be a proper game.
It lost much of the spirit of what an MGS game should be like. No more hiding in lockers to avoid patrols and seeing funny nudey pics and saying "Oh koj you old dog" and no switching controller ports because Psycho mantis could read your mind, all that cool stuff was taken away.
The games were always full of cliches and melodrama but at least the older ones had a tonne of gameplay in them and were actual stealth games. This time it's cutscene heavy and has more of them than actual gameplay (One of them is 45 mins long FFS) and it was easier to play all guns blazing than sneak because enemies respawned and ruined the progression and satisfaction of sneaking.
If anyone ever asked me how to showcase what an MGS game was all about I would never ever show them MGS4 first.
It is not perfect, but I have so much fun with Borderlands.

This was a fricken great game and would be so much better if it didn't get so repetitive and mundane after a while. Looking forward to the sequel though
Halo 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
GTA San Andreas
Max Payne 1/2/3
Mortal Kombat II/Deception/9
Red Dead Redemption
Resident Evil 2
Pikmin 2... It transported me to a new world better than any other game and the funny thing is, that new world was Earth through the eyes of a 1 inch tall alien astronaut.

Meh. There was so many other things in MGS4. You act like they didn't add a lot and substitute those things for other things. I played each of them from 1 - 4 in order a few years ago and 4 is my favorite. 2 was too drab and similar the whole time (though an awesome game) cause you basically stay in the same place the whole time. 3 had the worst villain and some poor things like the food mechanic, though had some of the best bosses and gameplay. 1 is just a bit archiac in ways but mind blowing how good it is today and very good in every aspect. 4 is just amazing. I will need to play it agian, but it has so much to do and there is plenty of ways to tackle many situations.

Boom.

Gotta agree, Half-Life is my pick. Immersive, varied, polished, lengthy and just plain awesome all the way through. This game had epic set pieces before Uncharted and Call of Duty made set pieces such a big deal, it had you surviving and fighting against various hostiles (that sometimes fought each other), and it was just an amazing game with great presentation and an impossible to forget campaign.
For now, Planescape Torment gets my vote:
I can write paragraphs upon paragraphs on why this game is so marvellous, but I'll just sum it up in a quick sentence: You know how people say that its got the best story ever created in video game history? They aren't lying. Even after all these years there is not one game that can top it in the story department.
[QUOTE="TheOtherTheoG"][QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]For lack of a better thing to post, what he said. What is this game? Looks like Black Ops.

It may not have the best individual dungeons in the series (tho the Stone Tower dungeon is one of the series best), but as a whole package, I agree with you 100%. It has atmosphere out the ass.
