"It's almost like printing money": Former Sony exec says PC ports of PlayStation games are too valuable to ignore

@icrackurnuts: Xbox is tanking because the console is completely redundant. They lost many of their users to PlayStation in the PS4/Xbox One generation but now they are migrating to PC.

This would be catastrophic for the PlayStation brand and here's why.

Over 80% of PlayStation's game sales are third party games. Sony gets a 30% cut of all 3rd party sales. If people move from PlayStation that cut goes to Steam. Selling a few extra copies of your first party software isn't worth that. The only counter any of you Xbots have is " people won't leave "PlayStation" when the fact is YES THEY WILL! They left Xbox for the same reason so why the **** wouldn't they leave PlayStation?

PS brand has already sealed their own fate. The end of PS is near.

If that percentage on PlayStation starts dropping significantly they would need to sell a shitload of first party software to make up for it. They are already seeing a drop off and if they go day and date it will become much worse. Steam will eat PlayStation because most users will migrate to the PC.

Again.. learn how these companies make money and you will realize how oblivious you are.

As long as they avoid day and date on single player games they will stay relevant..They would be better off if they abandoned single player games on PC all together and allowed live service to be day and date.

They are already doing day and date.

Only with live service... which makes sense since live service games are more likely to be successful with larger player counts.

Singleplayer games should never come to PC.

Playstation makes most of it's money off 3rd party sales. That is a fact.

Lemmings have this assumption that if Playstation releases all titles day and date on PC that will have no effect on Playstation sales and no impact on 3rd party sales. That is what I would call a retarded assumption since Xbox sales absolutely tanked.

@icrackurnuts: They are simply looking at the revenue the first party games are making on PC and ignoring the possible sales they are losing to customers who are making the PC their primary gaming platform.

Xbox fanboys keep saying Sony needs to bring everything day and date while completely ignoring the fact it would kill their third party sales as gamers will simply just move to PC.

Avowed is a good game.
