Thats because you are a real Lemming !
Its non 360 owning Cows that seem to have the most red light problems here in systemwars .
 that's quite a feat!

Dude, I swear. I hit the power button on the remote and......it came on!!!!!!!!
This is great because you never hear of the 360's that aren't broken. You only hear about the ones that break and everyone assumes that they are crappy hardware.
Mine still works like the day I got it. I guess I just know how to take care of consoles. :D
It'd be exceedingly ironic if it fell victim to the Ring of Death next time you turned it on.Jagazaar
For some reason, I really doubt that. I have played it for 12 hours straight then left it on for another 6 to download demos. If anybody has put a 360 truly to the test, its me.

omg that is so uber cool. like wow same thing happens to my 360 when i turn it on. its amazing. technology these days.
Theirs obviously something wrong with the 360, I think it was the glue or something that held something in place, But anyways ive had mine since Pal launch which puts it at 15 months but i treat it well and keep it in a well ventilated area and besides just get a three year warranty with it because thats what i did, But i still think that the Ps3 leaves the 360 dead in terms of build quality.
So Blue-Ray dosent add $200 to the Ps3 it the better build quality:shock:.

No no no! You guys are not listening. Take your fanboy ears off and listen!!!! I hit the power button, inserted a disk, closed the disc tray and.........PLAYED A GAME!!!!
You really shouldn't be celebrating that your console hasn't broken after 19 months when tons of NES's and Atari's are still working too, after 20+ years.jim1029
Oooooooh. Im assuming you did not detect the sarcasm in these posts? Nope you didnt....
:O its been 19 months already!?! Mikerules868
Well technically for me its 18 months (didnt get mine till christmas). But was manufactured in Nov 05.
I was playing yesterday and well....I was playing my 360 because....it works and its been working since launch. :shock:Magical_Zebra
Well done. It's been 67 months and my PS2 has no problems either.;)

sigh i was agreeing with you in a non serious way. sigh most of the claims about 360s breaking down in SW are made up lies by fanboys. the things they do amaze me for their loyalty to a certain brand.

My point was proven. Im not saying that the 360 does not break down. Some of these claims are a bit outrageous. Quite often its "Operator Error." Not to mention the fanboys of course who will make a thread to say "teh lites attacked me oh noes!!" I only personally know 3 people with 360's. My brother, my boy (he also has a PS3) and the "braniac" that caused his own console to fail (sitting ice cold beers on the damn thing). No problems from any except for the braniac. Not saying it doesnt happen but anyone can make a thread about how they are on their 12th 360 and it makes it look like all 360's are doomed.
ive had mine for 9 months and im on my 2nd
the first one lasted 3 weeks :O had to speak to someone on the helpline that didnt speak good english for 30-45 mins which is a joke and go through al lthe procedures to try and fix it that i tryed on the xbox.com help section grrr
total till replacement 7 days
i know someone on there 7th 360!?!?! people that are still on there 1st since launch are lucky
MS shouldnt be in this situation where we have to pray that our consoles dont break...make a reliable console dam it we are the ones forking out hundreds of pounds buying it.
Here's the real shame about the hardware problems in the 360:
1) Most obviously, there are many people that are punished, and people who are the most punished are those with the most faith in microsoft. Microsoft has notoriously bad support staff and they'll never give you money if they are not legally obligated. People on this site rarely include the price of a long term warrenty into the cost of the 360. People who bought the 360atlaunchare the most loyal customers and get screwed over the worst.
2) Perhaps most importantly, even if your console doesn't break down (the vast majority) you still have to live in fear. What happens when you hear sounds coming out ofthe machine? I have a launch wii that made weird ticking noises a few times, and it froze once, but I dont really sweat it too much because nintendo has a reputation for good hardware. I dont have to be afraid of the ps3 either. If I owned a 360, every little tick would make me fear the worst, like I would be one of the unlucky ones. Not only that, but the 360's overheating is the source of the problem, which means that I couldn't play for long periods of time without constantly checking to make sure it isn't overheating. The impression I get is that if i buy the 360 it will break down eventually, like I'll have to buy another one at least once from now until the end of the gen and knowing microsoft it would happen after my warrenty expired. If you dont take these hardware concerns seriously and if you dont fear your 360, you're a fool.

I had the same one since 11/22/2005
Still works perfect.
Because I take precautions.
I need it to at least last another 5 years.

Dude, my DVR ticks when Im fast forwarding through a recorded program. My 360 makes a whirring noise when the disk inside is spinning and then it suddenly comes to an abrupt stop. Anything that has electricity going through it can fail. Any chip or transistor can fail at any time on anything electric to include your microwave or toaster.
I have never got an answer to this. How the hell do you check to see if your 360 is overheating?? Hot air comes from my 40' lcd tv, hot air comes from my pc, hell hot air comes from my laptop. How am I suppose to "check" m y 360 to see if the hot air, is to hot, or not hot enough?

Tons? How about a handful. If you compared the number of NES' and SNES' that work to those that are broken... yeah.
And besides, the technology in them is much, much more simplistic than today's consoles.

Bingo! Nor do they generate the enormous amounts of heat that consoles these days do.

I dont have a 360, but if I did I would find a way to check it. If it was noisy, I would develop an ear for hearing something out of the ordinary. If you cant tell if its overheating that's a bad sign, which means that its always hot. Still, I imagine I would gain a sensitivity for detecting unusually bad heat. I think the guy with the legos has it right, btw, if he can't put it vertical. That's great, my 360 never shown the red lights, but has broken down on me a couple of times now(it's out for repairs at the moment), and I was just getting ready to go out and get Forza 2.:(
Gotcha, so your speaking on things on which you have no knowledge of? Magical_Zebrajust like everyone here! LOL
also, I think my post was a good assessment from the outside, and I dont pretend to know everything about the 360. I do know that people here post about it dying all the time and that consumer watchdogs in the UK are threatening microsoft with penalties if they dont improve their tech and their tech support. I wish I had the link for that one, I'll look for it now...

I never said the 360's DIDNT fail. They do fail and they fail more often then they should IMO. But the failure rate seems well...."exaggerated".
