Foxhound, I still do not understand how Dead Space is not atmospheric. I don't think the monsters are easy to kill, but that is probably because I played it on Hard my first go. It is what I do with most horror games. How is cliche not scary? And running does not always work for me. I remember running to a different room only to have the yellow tumor necromorphs enter the room through the vents. Are you saying that only unique equals scary now? I found Dead Space to be an all around scary game. It get's even better when you have voices from the game whispering in your ear, but people using their TV for their audio are **** out of luck for that effect.

To each his own I guess. I just found Dead Space to have an very intriguing story, bad execution and too much copying of Doom 3. I don't find gore, dark places and jump-out-at-you monsters to be scary. Dead Space is a decent game, but it definitely does not represent the survival/horror genre very well.
Not if it's done artificially via purposefully bad control. That's just aggravating, not scary.topgunmv
