I would rather have a virtual prize grabber machine to play instead of having set things to win. You get to play 1 try the first level and then 3,5,7, etc.

Open your eyes. The microsoft points are worth a few bucks...A dashboard theme/special gaming picture? You should be able to get that anyway, its just weak. XBL Contra game? Hermits could get that on an emulator for ages. A crappy party game (even you would admit its bad)..And a t-shirt that you probably wouldnt want to be seen wearing. How in all hell is that meant to beat mods? Its pretty damn weak, espicially if your going to look at it from a gameplay perspective...One retro game, one bad game and like $4 worth of MS points is all your getting compared to endless amounts of game content.

first of all a lot of great Pc games cost below 50$. EU3( 8.7 at GS) and Burngine crusade (9.2) debuted at 40$, Race wttc(8.8) debuted at 30$. Second..in Europe majority of 360 games cost 30$ more than PC ones. and third...we pay for lenghty experience, you pay 60$ for 6hrs games. Achievements or not we are getting a better deal

I'd rather get free games (in the form of mods) than free gamer images for my console, but that's just me.

I mean, if I had a choice between spending $10 on either Thief 2 on PC (with the truly epic mod - Shadows of the Metal Age), or the imaginary Thief 2 on the 360 (with achievements and potentially free faceplates/tee-shirts, if I buy a whole lot of other games), I'd pick the PC version. Hell, that one mod alone pretty much doubles the game's playtime, and adds many awesome and innovative features.

My response would be the same for pretty much every game - HL2 with Garrysmod; Oblivion with some interesting quests and content (only found in player-made mods, as it is generally agreed upon that vanila Oblivion sucked); KOTOR II + the Restoration Mod; GTA's with the various online multiplayer mods; Doom 3 with the co-op and multiplayer mods; to name but a few mutliplatform games.

So, Pikachu, my question to you is: Why on earth do you hate mods so much? Wouldn't you rather get the most out of your (favourite?) games, than a tee-shirt and two old arcade games?

*Update* Oh, and after reading that site, your post is rather pointless. The achievement point challenge is only open to Americans, and only lasts 2 months (while stocks last - so probably less than that).
Would you rather have many hundreds of hours of extra playing time, or a crappy competition to win a tee-shirt every six or so months?

It got 7.0, and its a party game. Looks like even thug pikachu agrees with me, he said mabye you could trade it in for a gift voucher. Flaming troll? Point out the part of that post where I was flaming, it was more civil then a lot of the posts here in SW...

It's a far cry from what you originally suggested you'd be able to get from this, ie free food, store credit etc. Really, most of this stuff is a gimmick, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a 360 t-shirt in public (I suppose you could use it for sleeping or work outs if your desperate) and games you can download on PC.

I would say it diffrently. If I had a chance to get thief2 for pc and then download SotMA for free or get imaginary THifef2 for free and then get eough achievements t download Thief3 for free I would get PC version anyday

Actually, the Japanese were as bad as the Nazis in many ways. The Rape of Nanking, war brides, prisoner death marches were all up there with the Holocaust and Russian gulags.

I disagree, the Holocaust was a lot worse. Those death marches were soldiers who surrended (something was complete disgraceful to their culture), the Holocaust took a lot more lives and it was mostly civilians..6 million was only topped by the russians

I don't thing numbers matter when you look at the tenacity of action, I'm sure the Japanese would have been just as ruthless had they got the opportunity to kill that many. I don't mean the Japanese did more damage, I mean that they were just as ruthless. As for the death marches, it really wasn't the fault of captured soldiers that Japanese culture viewed it shameful to surrender, and I really can't reconcile it being less serious because of that.

actualy Japanese version of holocaust killedr over 30mln people, more than Nazis ever did, altough obviously Nazis would pass that number easily if they had as much time as japanese to do it

I dont even need to of played a major PC game (featuring mods) to know that Mods>Achievements. While they are both cool, Mods can make a game entirely new. While Achievements as just for bragging rights. It isnt official that Microsoft will be awarding people for having a high Gamescore yet.

EDIT: Nvm, it is official, but still, you need games to get a Gamerscore, and some games just dont give enough points. U need quite a bit of games to get some of those prizes.

I HATE FIFA.
But EA bought out MOST of the licenses.
And PES6 in its original form has VERY few licensed teams/stadiums/chants/leagues.

This is a joke right.. 200 points for having a score of 10,000. I have to buy at least 10 games ($600) and complete all the BS achievments for that (not my deal) to get 200 MS points? WTH can I get with 200 MS points?

Mods are the ability to take a game add new content, gameplay or completely make a new game from that games own engine.

The oblivion stream mod is a perfect example of modding at its finest, no loading anywhere!

Mods don't just give you the ability to change a game, they give you the ability to enhance it.

Saying achievements >> Mods?

Your blind an deluded to believe that and that those rewards microsoft are offering you are of equal value to the amount you will spend to get them, its 10 dollars worth of content for wasting your money to be an achievement whore.

This is like playing into the hands of the devil!

Microsoft is already laugh all the way to the bank and you think we should give them more money for these kind of lame rewards?

Mods > Achievements/Trophies any day. This is coming from a console gamer. Stop being such a fanboy. Having to pay for add-ons here while PC gamers get things like COD4 add-ons free, and then some, is better than getting an achievement/trophy. Cut the crap.
