It's odd how journalists aren't asking the same questions to Sony.

[QUOTE="PraetorianMan"] What we have here is an issue with reading comprehension with you...that or maybe just blind fanboyism. PS3 has a forced fee as well to play used games online, do you cry about that? Sony hasn't given a straight answer on how they will be dealing with the used game market, so stay tuned. Checking once every 24 hour does not equal to anything close to being always online...so again, Sony failed to give a straight answer to that question as well. Basically, nothing is confirmed and your links didn't prove anything.darkspineslayer

That's a bunch of bull shit.  There is no forced fee for PS3.  Select few games have online passes, but that's it.  And they have given a clear answer, it's up to the publishers.

Exactly, keep the dream alive though, Perch. Daddy gates cares about you.

Nope. Nice try, but I already said I"m not buying either console next gen. I'll be fine with my pc and the Xbox One controller.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/408688/interviews/interview-phil-harrison-on-xbox-one-indies-pre-owned-games-and-more/

There have also been statements this week that Xbox One will require a connection to the internet once every 24 hours in order for offline games to function. Can you give us the full story on this issue?

Xbox One is designed to have an internet connection - it does not require an internet connection to be on at all times, but many of the great features and capabilities of the system are unlocked via a connection to Xbox Live or the cloud so that all of the things you expect become unlocked.

If your internet connection is interrupted because of a local outage many, but not all of the features of the game content you own you will be able to use, but not all because some of them are uniquely online experiences. BBC iPlayer of Netflix won't work if your internet connection goes down, as you would expect.

Blu-ray movies and other single-player games that don't require an internet connection to Xbox Live will work. I think it is pretty rare of an outage of local internet connectivity to be more than a few seconds or minutes, so I don't expect it will ever impact on somebody's ability to use the system.

So would you Cows love to tell us which alternate voice keeps telling you the system must be online all of the time?

Bruce_Benzing
For now everyone already knew that there isn't a literal always online requirement for the XB1. That is, until they actually try persuing this completely useless cloud processing concept. That said, having to log in once every 24 hours is still a bigger pain in the ass than not having any such requirement at all.

I'll bring the boneless skinless chicken and the ribs.

I don't think it is odd. When the Wii U launched no one cared. When the PS4 was revelaed I hardly saw any press on it. The X1 however has recieved a ton of press. Why? The reveal was on live TV and the X1 relates to more people than just games.

How so? The X1 will always be powered up, but in sleep mode. Then at a point in time it will log in without input from a user per say. Much like your computer will check for updates in the back ground. At least that's my understanding of how that would work.

After Gamespot tried to argue that DDR3>GDDR5 and Forbes reached for a conclusion that the MS conference was better than the PS4 conference, you really think that MS is getting the sh!t end of the deal here?

No, the reason Sony isn't getting asked these questions is:

1. They've already given more of an answer on it than Microsoft has, and

2. Microsoft has brought this on themselves.

darkspineslayer

That was a blogger on Forbes, IIRC. Not the site itself.

I would be interested in reading where GS tried to argue that, if you have a link.

I was actually using really bad hyperbole http://www.gamespot.com/call-of-duty-ghosts/videos/xbox-one-vs-ps4-what-we-know-so-far-6408699/?tag=Topslot%3bSlot2 GS wasn't actually trying to justify DDR3 as being better, but they did try slating it out to be some sort of equal [which it isn't]. Also saying that the XB1 has an edge because of Direct X is beyond baffling.

No, I read an article (from IGN i think) where Sony refused to comment further on used games telling us that its up to publishers, that was the only comment they made. Then they apologized.

Gamespot actually tried to say DDR3 is better lol really... you got a link?

I can't stand some of the fanboys in the gaming media who will spin this shit. i just got done listening to the weekend confirmed shack news podcast and Andrea Renee on that was Damage controlling all the complaints about the xbone because "her freinds play the 360 and she likes it more.." she sounded like a typical sys wars lemming.... its sad these people are supposed to take a neatrual stance yet they don't... I was getting mad listening to the podcast as they didn't even mention the DDR difference, just said to read anandtek.. why?

Because it would favor Sony..if they did. If sony did these things that MS is doing everyone would be on them for it even fanboy sites etc.... but m$ gets a free break?

One of the guys was like.. "well people said I was being too negative on the PS4 confrence.. so I am being positvie now.." I was like way to admit to being a fanboy... be negative on sony but positive on MS? lol (think it was that kotaku guy dip-sh$t.)

Sony has said that the ps4 has the ability to block used games. They then say WE won't block used games BUT the game publisher can. So basically we have Sony doing a circle jerk here and shifting the blame to the game publishers. Now you can see why EA claims they are doing away with online passes. It is not that they heard what gamers wanted, they have the xbox1/ps4 that will do a better job than the current DRM.

So all the people bashing the xbox 1 get ready for the ps4 to do the same damn thing.

Phrase which was stolen by Sony from 360 launch, and restolen by the XboxOne. The Phrase is outdated, and if that phrase actually effects people on the internets decisions than I have to question sanity.

Why do I as a gamer care if the PS4 is easier to develop for than the PS3? That's not aimed at me the gamer. That's aimed at the developers who cried about how hard the PS3 was to develop games with. That was smart marketing aimed at 3rd party developers, but for me the gamer I couldn't care less. If the game doesn't release on console X, it will on console Y. Having Bungie on stage is great for Sony and fans who've never owned an Xbox or PC in the last decade, but again for me the gamer who's already enjoyed Bungie games I couldn't care less about them talking about a multiplat game. No different than MS bringing the CoD guy and talk about Ghost, for me. I'll agree it was better than the MS conference overall, but for the fanboys on these forums to claim next gen has been won already because of these conferences should really get their heads examined or maybe watch the Sony one again. Is all I'm saying.

The first hour was a total bore. I respect Mark Cerny, but he just dragged on about the hardware with big words that most people didn't even understand. He could have explained all of that in about 15-20mins at the most. Most of the games didn't have game play either. It wasn't perfect. I gave it a C+.

I could have sworn Sony was allowing both used games and the always online feature to be for the developers to decide.

[QUOTE="percech"][QUOTE="darkspineslayer"][QUOTE="percech"] PS4 can play used games you say? Hmmm that's real interesting because I"m pretty sure that Xbox One can do the same as well. PS4 will not require always online you say? Interesting because neither will the Xbox One.

If you consider a forced fee to be used game support and having to check in every 24 hours to not be online required, you may want to consult a physician to check out that concussion.

What we have here is an issue with reading comprehension with you...that or maybe just blind fanboyism. Basically, nothing is confirmed and your links didn't prove anything.

Wow.. they really are on the attack.. it must really hurt to be so let down my M$..

[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"][QUOTE="Chris_Williams"] ??? they had bungie on stage, they spent a good amount talking about the specs of the ps3, they had Cerny (a industry legend ) on stage, they had developers come out and say how the ps4 is easier to develop for. They showed games, how was it lackluster? It was way better than Microsoft conference

You as a gamer don't care that the ps4 will be easier to develop for??? You mean you don't want good games?? I know I (as a gamer) am VERY happy that the PS4 has great specs and is much easier to develop for than the ps3..

[QUOTE="darkspineslayer"]

[QUOTE="PraetorianMan"]

PraetorianMan

And then they made no mention of the difference in Tflops in the GPUs.

[QUOTE="blackace"][QUOTE="Chutebox"][QUOTE="blackace"] They said you can play used games on their system, but so did Microsoft. lol!! Sony is the one that actually has a patent to block used games. Hhhmmm.. Sony is also notorious for lying before a system launches. So I'm sure they will be asked again at the E3.

So you're ignoring what they said to keep your hopes up. Gotcha. lol!

Sony allso said the PS3 would have 2 HMDI ports and run games at 120FPS. LOL!! That was before the PS3 launched. So yes, I'm defintiely ignoring what they said. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice..... LOL!!

Yes, that is totally comparable.

Sony were asked the exact same questions though On the used games, they say its going to be up to the publishers (So online passes are still going to happen from the same companies at least, including sony) And it isnt going to be always on
