There are many reasons I like the PS3 and would cheerfully engage any of my friends/coworkers as to why I think it's the best console this gen. This isn't one of them. This is far from anything worth discussing in the real world and anything related to business when talking about the PS3 will inherently backfire.

No, the 70.6 mil included PS2 sales. PS3 was said to have sold 70.2. I doubt Sony is gonna say we sold 70 mil PS3s only for some of them to be PS2s. Wouldn't sit right with investors ya know?

Released at half to less than half of the price of the HD twins. I think that was a big factor. Oh, and the fact that it appealed to casuals with the motion control gimmick. You should know this with all the grandparents playing Wii bowling. I don't have a crystal ball, but Wii U will not have the same success.
