These are just off the top of my head, feel free to add.

  • Online DRM
  • Forced online check ins every 24 hours
  • Used game restrictions / policies
  • Kinect required / mandatory
  • $499
  • Xbox Live required to play games online and use media features like Netflix
  • Controllers use AA batteries (lol)
  • You rent games rather than buy games yet still pay full price
  • You're forced to trade in games to Gamestop
  • Can't lend games to friends
  • No headset included
  • No accessory backwards compatibility
  • No backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games
  • Arcade Games from the Xbox 360 don't carry over to the Xbox One
  • The Xbox One will become a brick in 10+ years
  • Games will be unplayable in the future and become the equivalent of old PC games with no CD-Keys
  • The system is huge and ugly
  • The Kinect is huge and ugly
  • Privacy is an issue - Always Watching, Always Listening
  • The Xbox One will use Region Locking to lock games down geographically

Seems like you covered most of it. Could add no game rentals, online check in every 1 hour if playing your games on another console, less powerful GPU than the PS4, slower RAM and more RAM reserved for multimedia functions than the PS4, no self publishing for indie developers etc. Sure there must be some more, can't think of any right now.

The controller still uses AA batteries? Jeez, Microsoft.

Another bad thing, a bloody terrible name. Xbox ONE! What the hell were they thinking?

These are good additions.  I would also add the 3 operating systems as someone else mentioned.  What a boneheaded idea.

Very bad rep with indies. No self publishing. To be honest, it'd be easier to least the things it's done right. 1. Some great looking exclusives. 2. ....? Blu Ray I guess?

I think I've heard that the Xbox One uses an external power supply as known as a "power brick"?

If it's true, there's another bad thing about it. The list just keeps growing, and there are maniacs on here who defends the console. Only God knows what's wrong with them.

Nickel Metal Hydride rechargable AA batteries are awesome.

You can buy them at any shop, you can get chargers for them all over the place. I am very happy that I can use AA batteries in Wiimote, Xbox 360 controllers etc. I keep a bunch charged at all times - they're on rotation.

After a while, any battery loses it's capacity for charge - when this happens I repurpose the batteries into less voltage intensive applications such as for remote controls, clocks, handheld EC meters etc. With other devices you might need to source a specific battery, or even in some cases do some soldering.

To prevent piracy.

Microsoft is making an attempt at providing an all-digital Xbox One while acknowledging that the retail market still exists in the console industry.

Unlike the PC market though, Microsoft still wants to give you the ability to trade in games.

If there were no 24 hour check-in someone could buy a game, install the game (which let's them play any time), disconnect their console from the internet, and give that game to a friend to do the same thing, and that could be repeated thousands of times over which is essentially piracy at that point.

They could just require a one time activation over the internet. That's how it has been on PC for some time, and nobody has a problem with it...

But the PC doesn't allow you to trade in your games. That's the problem.

If you could do a one time activation on the internet, and then disconnect your console from the internet, and then give the game to a friend and they could install the game, and do the same thing, and then they give the game to someone, and so on, and so forth, forever and ever

Eventually you end up with hundreds of people using one single copy of a game, yet at the same time every one of those users has full access to the game. That's piracy at that point.

The 24 hour check in prevents that type of abuse with this system. Microsoft is going to provide the awesomeness of the all-digital PC gaming age, but with the ability to still trade in the games you purchase, and potentially rent/lend them at some point.

In all honesty, my gripe with XBXONE is lack of longevity. I have a habbit of playing games from 10-20 years ago, how can I possibly play XBXONE games lets say Halo 6 in 15 years? Servers will likely be down and there's absolutely no way of playing it.

I don't like paying to play online, but money was never an issue, it's more about principles, and since PSN+ on PS4 is now required, there's no difference anymore, and had XBOXONE stayed at the same formula as 360 did, I would have gone easily with XBOXONE as the choice (I also love the new controller).

But again, lack of Longevity is the reason behind my XBOXONE gripe.

I also usually buy NEW games, so that's no issue, neither is staying online which i'm always on.

Mandatory Kinect is a joke. The price is a joke. Live fees are a joke. No backwards compatibility even with online-bought games is a joke. Still using AA batteries is a joke. The online stuff doesn't bother me. I prefer online and digital distribution, personally. Still doubt I'll buy one because of the above listed things, plus I really like PS4's potential with Gakai. Strong chance you'll be able to stream a **** load of old games when they finally launch it. Shame to miss out on Forza and Halo, but it just aint worth it for those two games.

I understand the issues with it but let's not make stuff up. Forcing to use Gamespot? You can Turn Kinect off. You can lend games to friends, once. Huge and ugly? Did you see the PS4? it looks worse. They both look bad though. MS has not answered region locks yet. Again, privacy is not an issue, Kinect can be turned off.

Wait, Live fees are a joke and no BC is a joke, yet you want to go to PS4 ignoring these two issues?
