Glad you enjoyed it. I think a lot of the hate for VR does come from people who view it similarly to the Kinect/motion controls fad. I think people don't realize just how much VR changes the feeling of immersion in a game world, and what a radical change it is from flat screen gaming. This is not just waggling your hands, although that is possible in many VR games. Some of my favorite VR games actually use a standard DS4 controller.

Everything feels different with the headset on. When I play the Battlefront X-Wing demo, it actually feels like I am IN a spacecraft, not just playing a flight simulator. This also has a funny effect when playing Re7 - the game is absolutely frightening in VR, and I need to take breaks not because of motion sickness but because there's a limit to what my heart can handle from all the jump scares, which really feel like they're happening to ME.

It's a lot of fun and I hope the tech continues to grow and develop. It will require support from people like us.

Yes, absolutely. If you need to take a break for whatever reason in VR, then do so immediately. Your body/brain knows its limits at any given time, and if it's telling you to take a break--take a break! As an aside, this is why I don't think little kids should be using VR, at least not with stuff like RE7. It could definitely be traumatizing.

I'm always surprised on how people can get so overwhelmingly positive about PSVR when clearly the technology is not there yet, at least on console.

And he clearly enjoyed it. So who gives a ****? Oh noes, he's not allowed to like it!!!1

Right now there are those Playstation Days of Play Sales or whatever it's called and the complete VR bundle (VR headset, camera, 2 move controllers and PSVR Worlds) was up for 450 so I thought "Oh, what the hell" and ordered it. Don't actually know if it's even part of the sale and usually more expensive but I was in the mood to spend some money. Can't wait to finally get my hands on Resident Evil in VR and Farpoint. Also ordered Trackmania Turbo and Here They Lie and plan to get Bound, Thumper , Wayward Sky and Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes from PSN. Should be enough for a start.

I tried PSVR twice last summer before it was released. I think it was really good. I was very impressed, and that was just on the base PS4 hardware, PS4 Pro wasn't out at the time.

I can only imagine the VR experience being quite a lot better using a high spec gaming PC with Oculus Rift or Vive.

When VR is implemented to use the same controller, without loss of image quality compared to non-vr titles I will take more notice.

VR is also expensive. When it costs as much as my PS4 Pro, it is going to be a hard sell to me.

VR is definitely something that I'm interested in, but the cost and small library of games is just too much for me to justify buying in right now.

@nethernova: Nowhere did I said that there was anything wrong with enjoying it. Just that I find weird how positive one can be with a product that has some obvious problems. This is based on my own experience, so it will not apply to everyone but, owning a PS Pro and a PSVR , my first thoughts were "this feeling of presence is something else" followed by "the image quality sucks". And I not talking about graphics -that are not impressive at all- just can't understand how someone can ignore the poor image quality.

It's a nice product with a accessible price point but it is also just slightly above being a prototype. Feels exactly what it is. A budget product of a technology not yet matured. But I can say that last year one of my top 5 games was a PSVR game.

All this to say that we should be able to be critical of our own likes.

VR is great, but it needs better games and better resolutions on the headsets.

I tried PS VR and loved it. The Battlefront VR mission and Until Dawn roller coaster game were my favorites. With the current selection of VR games, I'm not in any rush to buy it right now though.

I haven't tried VR yet, but definitely want to... but I'm sceptical. I'm sure it's fun to begin with, but once the novelty factor wears off, is it still as good & will people go back to it?

My biggest question is for using VR headsets for long periods, like with the upcoming Fallout & Skyrim VR. I can't imagine wearing them for hours on end. I think my eyes/brain would melt.

thanks, I've always read stuff about vr but I could never really grasp how it would feel, but it's actually quite simple , it does feel like you're in another world and you forget your surroundings pretty much immediately, It's striking how much we rely on eyesight, I was barely a minute in and I was already grabbing at stuff that wasn't actually there lol.

I won't say this will replace tv but it's a lot better than tv, that's for sure. tv didn't replace radio either , but 3d games did replace 2d games for a major part.

If it will ever replace tv it will have to be a lot lighter, it didn't bother me at all, but I can't imagine binge watch any series with a pound of electronics on your head (you could be laying sideways in bed while watching this though. and let the weight of the headset rest on the bed )

I didn't feel any eye strain whatsoever, but from what I've heard how the tech works, I do think your eyes will tire more quickly.

can't see how your eyes or brain would melt without applying heat, if the light intensity is too strong you will just shut your eyes automatically

If you were amazed by PSVR, you would be even more amazed when you try room-scale VR on the Vive. I always say that anybody that calls VR a gimmick has not tried room-scale VR on the Vive because I have never heard of anybody that has tried it then call VR a gimmick after experiencing room-scale VR on the Vive.

I have Rift and Vive. Also have one of those cheap phone VR things which is more akin to the PSVR in terms of lenses and a single display. My stepson in law has a PSVR. I think the problem for most is it's not as streamlined, both in terms of gameplay and hardware/peripherals, as typical couch gaming goes. The other being that 4k seems to be the big buzz right now and VR is a long ways off from that due to performance hurdles. PSVR, just like PS Pro in 4k, just tends to fake everything due to weaker hardware. It's hard enough on a 1080 GTX with a Core i7 to do a proper VR with good graphics but like phone VR's, they seem to make it passable despite the hardware.

For myself, I prefer the Rift over everything else. I play regular games on it too since I can make the screen look massive and sometimes in 3D if not a fake VR like mode of some sort. Most people seem to prefer Vive. Everyone else are basically just haters and you are not allowed to enjoy stuff like that.

What? It's 2017, $500 is nothing these days. I mean you do work and can properly budget right? If gaming isn't your favorite hobby then certainly no need to spring for the best experiences but it is a very cheap hobby as far as adult hobbies go.

So I just played Farpoint with the aim controller the first time. Wow!

The PSVR tracking "drift" is still a serious issue. I swear if Sony could fix that, PSVR would be perfect. The aim controller is VERY cool too. It looks pretty dumb irl, but in Farpoint it's freakin awesome. Then again, I watched videos of Farpoint on YouTube and was very underwhelmed. In VR though, there are plenty of jaw dropping moments. VR is even harder to showcase than HDR to folks that don't have the hardware. TV and VR manufacturers have their work cut out for them. Which sucks because both HDR and VR are amazing, but neither really play in videos or stage demos.

Yeah, TC wasn't talking about 360 video it's one of the thingies on the PSVR Worlds. A video is just that, but in the shark cage you can move freely as if you were in let's say maybe 3'x3' or a little bigger. I made my mom do that it freaked her the eff out. People scoff at PSVR specs just citing graphs they've seen on system wars but you don't notice this screen door effect you read about and on my Pro (admittedly depending on software of course) it's freaking beautiful. Can't wait for Skyrim PSVR- with hands!! Having hands in VR is so cool. If you haven't tried Batman or Star Trek do so immediately. Until Dawn RoB is great. RE7 is 10/10 but my God you need a brass set. Farpoint is like you are IN Starship Troopers. The Wife and cats get smacked around a bit with the move controllers, but small price to pay. For people on the fence, just jump over its worth every penny.

But the problem is, all this time it's still tech demos. It works great for them. Until there's actual games it's a gimmick. I know it works in survival horror.

Had my Vive over a year now and still use it pretty much every day; VR isn't going away and it will become a bigger industry. Most of the naysayers have never tried VR except for a 360 video on their mobile phone, which isn't even VR.

Its hard to explain what VR is like, you have to try it on something like the Facebook Rift, PSVR or Vive to get a good feel for it. Though the shortfall for PSVR is the abysmal tracking when using Move controllers which can put people off right from the start if they experience it.

The best way I can explain it: its like you're in the game world instead of watching it through a TV screen and no matter how unrealistic the graphics are, its like your brain makes it feel real.

It's funny how everything Nintendo does is considered a gimmick on this forum, but Sony's PSVR seems to be immune from this judgement even though it lacks quality compared to better VR sets like the Vive.

Having tried and own a VR system and even demo it in my classes the novelty wears off pretty quickly. Its niche and the niche group loves to pretend that its not and assumes that anyone who doesn't see specifically PSVR becoming the next big thing as someone who has not experience VR. VR in its current state is expensive and clumsy to operate. Until manufacturers figure out a way to make it more user friendly and accessible it will remain in the niche market.

What VR system do you own? There are many VR systems that I would agree with you that they just offer novelty that wears off pretty quickly. Then, on the other hand, there is room-scale VR on the Vive which is in another league and is absolutely amazing and never stops being amazing even after using it every day for a year.

If you have not experienced full room-scale on the Vive then you have not experienced how incredible VR can really be.

Hope VR comes soon.

I expect it's the normal in games in 2 decades.

I'd be happy enough with VR, 60 FPS in an openworld that looks like Zero Dawn or anime like Persona.

A Persona VR game might be too much for me to take. I'd love it so much that I would likely explode/implode, either/or.

Yes I finally got to try it a couple weeks ago and I had a similar experience, as did pretty much everyone else who tried it. It's not a fad and yes it is here to stay; That is pretty much the take away from the experience. It is very much like seeing a glimpse of the future.
