Jack Tretton: 'We Are Happy With The PS Vita'

The hardware is outstanding, but they NEED to get games out on it, great ones, on a consistent basis. It looks like they have some heavy hitters coming this fall, so that's good.

What they really need to do is deliver on the promises they had before launch. Supposedly Vita would be able to play scaled own versions of PS3 games -- so where's THAT feature? Do they not realize that would make Vita an immediate, necessary purchase for the vast majority of PS3 owners? And how could PS1 classics compatibility not be available out of the gate? Some really frustrating aspects to Vita, but if they can get those straightened out very quickly, and keep the games coming in, I think they it can be a pretty successful little handheld.

They wont pull the plug , I think once they drop the price of it , comeout with the PS4 and integrate it with the new console it will be fine.

Timing is everything, i would not expect a price drop untill this holiday season which would be the perfect time, I say around November.

the vita will be dead by 2013 , there is nothing i want on the thing and to make matters worst even people who want one wont buy 1 until there is a game or two cause that 250.00 price tag is heck of expensive

He cant say anything else. He knows the Vita is dying, but Sony is already hemorrhaging cash so going about and telling the truth will only make it worse.

The feature are pretty darn good as well I think. Overall, it just feels like a much better system. But it's the games that matter in the end, and if we don't see the heavy hitters soon then PSvita is fvcked.

This is the Game Gear versus Game Boy all over again. The Vita is a far better system than the 3DS on just about every level, but the library support just isn't there! *face palms*JustPlainLucas

I don't know why people always think it will turn out differently. This isn't the console market where the balance of power can shift at any given moment. As long as Nintendo come up with good handhelds they will always come out on top, even if Sony change their approach. Cows need to accept that Sony is past it's prime and they are only going downhill from here. They will never rise to the dominance they had with PS2 again. They are a different company now.

That's my problem with it. Why am I going to get a Vita when I could gat a PS3 for slightly less. While the Vita will probably have lots of dumbed down PS3 games.

It's part of the reason.When a corporation comes clean,and shows some honesty by admiting their shortcomings,that's a big plus in my book as a consumer.Nintendo saw 3DS shortcomings,admitted them,and started fixing them...

Sweeping issues under the rug isn't a good idea,and that's exactly what Sony is doing with Vita.I don't care about handheld gaming at all,so whatever happens,doesn't affect me in any way,but I expect to see Vita discountinued by the end of the year,dropping out of the map like PSP GO...

I think its too early to say if its "another PSP Go". It will depend how much things pick up at Christmas I guess. If you ask me what Sony need is a price drop. I don't care what is under the hood of the system. Its obvious handheld consumers say "£150 maximum or stick it where the sun don't shine". At least for gaming dedicated handhelds.

If they drop the price they will see them fly off the shelves. And I think a memory card is a requirement if some games won't work without one.

There's hardly any games out and a number of the early titles feel a bit slapdash (I'm looking at you Mortal Kombat) it's hard to see how someone could have expected it to sell like hotcakes. Charizard has issues, he is obsessed with this.

The Vita needs more games, a price drop would be nice too. Especially on those memory cards.

But Sony did make a great handheld all things considered, it's design and tech destroys the 3DS, it's such a far better experience playing on a Vita over a 3DS. It just feels better, it's comfortable, the screen is so nice. But 3DS wins because it has more games.

I am happy with my PS Vita as well.

With the 3DS already having a great list of games I dont seen many people buying Vitas over the 3DS this holiday season.

I personally know a few people who wanted a Vita but are now looking into getting a 3DS.

We will see.
