Japan: 360 Takes the Cake, Wii and PS3 Fight for Crumbs

just because it doesn't play dumbed down FPS games like halo?

hate for wii from players that play PS3 and xbox is REALLY REALLY ironic, even when so many are making crap games that actually sell, the same can be said for xbox/ps3... just not so many people have been buying crappy games for those consoles as much as they have been for wii atm.

well a halo RTS game just came out, so obviously that isnt enough of "crappy game/s milking it" for xbox fanboys

QQ more imo, again, hugely ironic coming from ps3/xbox fanboys, only really PC players can be justified at making fun at wii, and only if they know all consoles are bad money-milking machines anyway.

Looks like Japan might be going HD...or this is just a little funny week.

With the PS3 outselling the 360 almost all the time in Japan, should the COWS make these threads everyweek? It seems when the 360 does this, it's the greatest thing ever, but we don't see these thread for Wii or PS3.

It's only news if it's good M$ news in Japan, I guess. Year Four, still reaching for that One Million install base.

I think the Lemms should be a bit more humble, this isn't the finish line in Japan, lol.

It's very obvious this is due to Star Ocean 4, and the SO4 bundle. This isn't Xmas, so this may last a few weeks or so.

In any event, M$ buying all these JRPG's at the cost of 1st party studios seems to be working.

You know, I like you and all, I think that you are valuable contributor, but I'm sick and tired of seeing Microsoft spelt "M$". It stopped being funny after a while, especially when one overuses it.

Pretty good numbers for the 360, looks like Star Ocean will get them over 1 million, which is pretty good news for MS. I'm sure their plan was not to win Japan, but to get a foothold there. With the 720 (or what ever is the name of the new one) they'll probably have a bit of an easier time in Japan.

actually when discussing sales in Japan thats the usual BS lemmings come out with... apparently Japan doesnt matter for most of the hardcore lemmings, but oddly enough lately they flooded SW with a game coming from a JAPANESE dev in a desperate move to claim its 'TEH new graphics king' :)

Also Considering 360 only in a couple of occasions did outsell PS3 and just this once the Wii its nothing to brag about... (mind you i like my 360 and think its a great console, just looks stupid making such a big noise, we all know it will fall back to last place in Japan sales in a couple of weeks)

never acted like that and never hidden behind 'IMO' cards... i got both PS3 & 360 but i prefare PS3... why should i hide in saying so, everyone has preferences mine is PS3... with that i dont bash exclusives for 360, heck i try and get most of those i'm interested in and enjoy them..

But you cannot really defend sales or 360 fanboys when the thread is about Japan Sales... you know 360 sales are mediocre in Japan.... Am i happy with this situation? NO... Can this situation change in Japan? Don't think so..

UHmmm...this is one single week and by no means is the 360 starting to overcome the giant gap in sales. As for what is going on? Probably some big RPG came out for 360. This isn't the first time the 360 has done well in Japan in a certain week. What matters is whether or not the 360 can maintain that position for more than one single week.

The Wii has been purchased by most Japan gamers......why is it surprising to see the sales drop? It's not like there is a new Wii hardware revision to keep the sales up. Eventually everyone owns one. darthogre

Seriously though when the PS3 outsold the 360 in the US that was HUGE and the 360 outselling the Wii in Japan is big news too (even for just 1 week!). As long as people don't get carried away and start proclaiming a 360 victory in Japan or the death of the PS3 (which almost outsold the Wii itself) then I don't see a big deal as long as the board doesn't get spammed with multiple threads.

Let's be honest here with out comparisons. THe PS3 outsold the 360 for 5 or 6 months in 2008. This story has the 360 outselling the competition for just one single week. Hardly the same thing. But I agree with the rest of your sentiment. It is still good news for 360 but far from evidence of a trend.
