Cloud is the more human of all FF and overall general characters IMO, he is a 21 years old trying to be a man who made mistakes, lied to be liked, had to face a lot of pain, anger, anguish, sorrow,..etc. Who idiolized someone but had to face the fact that he won't ever be like him in Sepiroth(a lot of us are in that situation) than realizing that that "idol" is just a regular person with a lot of bad in him.

I don't think some of you understand the emotional roller-coaster Cloud have been through in the game, it would have made any "tough" guy look emo.

I think many identify with him in Japan or elsewhere, which makes him so likeable. Which made him a great "character"(a character has to be someone that make people feel like they can be him).

cloud is nothing but an overrated crying baby-anime-cliche character with nothing better to do than whinning all day long about his "lack of strengh"

Btw, I found this.

I thinkit may be something wrong in the OP.

You just won the thread.

They only polled 1000 people. Come back when a poll has been done on 1,000,000 between the ages of 18 and 25.

You think they'll vote Cloud over Mario? Really?

its not suprising, but that doesn't make cloud a good character. It just reafirms my belief of the uselessness of final fantasy after 6.

More like confirms your hate of it when it moved to the Playstation. Cloud is a great character with an interesting back story of desperation, longing, and respect with loss and love thrown in.

That says a lot about Japanese maging preferences. Too much depth and they lose interest.

And what would Americans say that would be different? Master Chief? Marcus Fenix? Even Mario's character lacks depth.

I guess it all depends on how you can relate to the character. For me, Cloud seemed like the crazy EMO guy that keeps cutting himself and talks to no one.... Just really don't see what so great about his character.

I enjoyed Zidane's character much more. Probably because I just relate more with a character like that.

I expected the most popular to be Sephiroth (unless they mean main character)

Either way neither of them is the best character in FFVII much less in all the FF.

It's funny how I found Cloud to be the least interesting character out of all of them in FFVII...

Same went for FFVIII. Both Cloud and Squall were nothing more than dudes with identity crises.
