To all of those defending SMG's sales by saying Mario 64 sold less in its first week, wasn't it a launch title? Most likely a lot of people didn't buy the game then because they didn't have a 64 yet.

The sales for Galaxy are good, but I really thought it'd be better. I'm sure it'll sellmore in the U.S. in its first week.

Actually Oldschoolgamer, I think you failed to realize that those are the sales numbers for the first half a week. You should multiply those by about 1.5 to get the first real week of sales. That was said at least once in this post.

Even if you don't do that, however, the sales numbers for SMG for Japan only are fantastic. I really can't see selling 250,000 games in 3 or 4 days in a country that makes up only a small amount of your market, as bad. SMG will probably be, by far, the best selling Wii game yet. However, we won't know until we see the reviews. Either way, compare it to the next closest game on the list. Do you really think anyone is dissapointed with those numbers? Do you think that all the Sheep on here are like "Oh man, we didn't sell 300k, so this game is a flop."

Come on guys, get real.

Also, I know I don't need to mention this, but I know at least 3 posters who have commented don't realize it.

These sales numbers are for JAPAN ONLY.

Sorry everyone else who knew, lol, some people don't get subelties that require reading of the OP, when it is in chart form, their primative eyes just skip over the non-numeric based information, and their common sense fails to put it together.

PS2 11,000

You see The PS3 isn't the only Playstation selling software. So when a Lem sayseach PS3 owner averages 4 games compared to each 360 owner averaging 7 it doesn't mean that MS is winning.

You see lemmings? When the Xbox 360 actually gets a good appealing game for the Japanese audience it sells well. Do this on a regular basis like the PSP and despite the systems horribel localization and advertising it might actually sell a few units.

Those SMG numbers ****. I'm hoping it will have legs but I'm starting to have doubts about that. 1st day was 130k and 3 more days only did an extra 120k!?!?!? And the stores shipment was 700k btw. Seriously**** Japan! Go Europe and NA, buy this game.

I dont think its pathetic. 360 overall sales are outselling the ps3 by alot worldwide. Whats pathetic is the fact the Ps3 owners keep saying "Atleast we ownz u in Japan lolz" and now the 360 with barely any games that appeal to the Japanese audience is outselling the PS3 in sales this week.

the 360 and the ps3 have been toe to toe this year..last year obviously the 360 had a tremendous time.....but if you look at the chart no ps3 game was on there right?.... so atleast the 360 has a wider apeal to different regions now

If you checked the numbers you would know that the PS3 outsells the 360 in every region outside NA.

Anyways that does seem like a whole hell of a lot of copys of SMG. I am interest in seeing how it does stateside. Their are just so many wii's, I would think maybe 1.5 million in the first week.

I wonder how many Wiis are really in the market. At my retailer, probably over half of it's Wii sells are going to diverters. Wonder how many Wiis are getting shipped over seas? It's region free isn't it?

no it is not region free. The only reason a person in the US may want it would be to download Japan VC games.

He was talking about NA and so was I. *Shrug*, Like I said for one retailer with about 130 stores, about half of their Wii's are going to diverters. Maybe they are just stockpiling for xmas shortages.

I think the title will have great legs. I'm expecting it to break a million easily. Whether it reaches 2+ million is another story. It's possible that the game catches on through word of mouth. Only time will tell.

You mean 2million in japan right?i can assure you SMG will do well over 2million worldwide.....Even Sunshine for GC did 5.5million worldwide...

Well I wouldn't say that Blue Dragon was a "good game" but many seem to disagree with me. The problem with the 360 is that it gets these games extremely far and few inbetween. What was the last good appealing Japanese game on the platform? Eternal Sonata? That was months and even seasons ago in Japan and what was the last before that? Blue Dragon? If Microsoft wants the 360 to break into the Japanese market place, it needs to get these games at a regular basis. The PS3 has an excuse because the Playstation brand is very well known there, the Wii accomplishes what it does, the "XBox" name however if entirely unknown to the Japanese market place. So if Microsoft wants to break into their they have to do better then their competitors.

Final Fantasy will stop that momentum when it's released for the PS3 which is some time in 08 for Japan,you know this and I know this.
