A few months ago, if I told you that the PSP and PS3 would be dominating Japan's sales charts, with just the PSP selling nearly as much as the Wii, DSi, and DS combined (not to mention the PS3 dwarfing Wii in sales), I would have been the laughing stock of the System Wars (though it's not like I'm unfamiliar with such a situation-- but that was back when I was still a Nintendo fanboy). However, perhaps I should let the link below speak for itself:

For a while now, it's been pretty common to see the Playstation family of products bumping the Wii out of first place, but this month is proving to be quite a doozy. In Japan, I think it's safe to say that the pandamonium for Nintendo is ending-- that is, if it hasn't already ended. Is it really that hard to understand why, though? The PS3 has actually been getting some very good games lately, and the Wii has been getting a steady stream of shovelware.
And that brings me to item number 2: if Wii's own country of origin is getting bored of it, is the rest of the world far behind? Sure, Nintendo just raised the price of the Wii in the UK, but that was more due to inflation than actual demand for the system. It's still fairly hard to find a Wii at a Wal-Mart, but it's not like the store shelves are barren like they were at this time in 2008. It's not at immediate risk for being passed by the Xbox 360 in the US (or PS3 in Europe), but if Wii lost its dominion in Japan, it won't be long before the west follows suit.
I think the reason for all this should be fairly clear: Nintendo did not build the Wii on a business model that will stand the test of time. What they did was make a very compelling "must have Christmas present." I do not want to sound fanboyish here, but the Wii basically sold like it was a fancy toy, like Tickle Me Elmo or Furby. Once everyone who wants one has one, rekindling the flames is not going to be easy by any means. Lighting doesn't strike the same spot twice, and if Nintendo tries to repeat the Wii strategy next generation, it's going to hurt them. The Wii's days in the #1 spot are numbered, and it's all a question of when gamers in the Western hemesphere start to grow tired of waggleware in the same way as their counterparts in the east have.

1 your threads misleading - they arent bored of wii , just because you see less wiis being sold dont mean japans getting bored of wii ,
2 its because of yakuza, how many threads are you cows gonna post, of the same thing when we know ps3 will have its good times , and it will have its bad times
3 no , united states will not follow because 1 we dont have yakuza we dont have the same taste in games and
4 we are bigger market then japan , there for if sony only leads there but fails else where, it will not hurt nintendo , and what is people saying nintendo is at fault, they release 1 game am onth last year in the us , and more in japan we didnt get like re0 -we are just now getting it in q4 09
5 like i said , japan sales wont help sony catch nintendo , because they sold 2 to 1, for 2 weeks, i gurantee you it will go back to normal,
6 also , since japan is smaller, has it ever occured to you that mostly every one probably already owns a wii in japan it did sell 15 thousand each week , so thats 30 thousand, thats still a hefty number when you consider 3 yrs worth selling millions and millions of units
you get your hopes up, i said this same thing when gamecube was behind, boy i gave my hopes up, no one title wont help sony catch nintendo ,
your just adding more feul to the fire started by many cows, who think they know it all,
remember nintendo came 2nd, -after atari, ,
there for if you havent played a nes in your life time, i fell sorry for ya,
and ya wait til nintendos big hitters come, to japan
for sure sales will go back up ,
remember punchout !
sin and punish ment 2
dragon quest
final fantasy series
as some one said theres other games aimed at japan , for wii , that have yet to be released ,
dont count out excite bots trick racing either or wii sports resort,
i guess you forgot that one to,
with wii motion plus
and with the newly announced re uc2 ,
even more fun coming along, then you got klonoa,
i dont think its remotely possible that ps3 will keep selling, or at least catch wiis overall japan numbers, their to far into this generation to come back ,
3 yrs is to long, and ds is still selling good so what you talkin about ds for, dsi and dslite count you know and thats to far ahead for sure, 2004- 2008 for years of total domination pft, your on a losing case,
this gens winner has long been decided, remember wii sold over 2million in the holidays alone, in one month,
and another 1 million and somthing the prvieous month in 08 so , how you say its nintendo fault,
i think japanese pick their days, for say, theyll support nintendo as long as they are around , no questions asked,
just release one game talored to them , thats all it takes,
i dont think sony has anything left up its sleeve for them to because they dont release games like nintendo does,
1 a month, or more, remember there is wii makes ,like pikmin
so ya, japanesse gamers for the most part own a wii already what do you expect a small country to continue to buy wiis, and ps3s for ever,
look at ps2s numbers, 6 thousand,
shows you japan has already bought ps2s , ,
theyll do the same for wii
and this could also be the reason 2,664,366ps3 sold as of dec 08 from wikipedia thats the total of japan ps3 sells is 2 million wii is nearly 11 million according to wiki ,
so ya its a far stretch for sony to sell enough to catch wii in japan alone,
you definatelly have gotten ahead of your self,
wii is also the leading selling console elsewhere,
including us
so ya good luck on your post of the same thing posted 5 times,
heres the hand held side of sales
psp 50 million
ds 100 million you see
pft it will be a miracle for psp to catch up to a handheld that should have its successor very soon
